Just spent two nights here on the way down to the West Country. Extremely well run and neat and tidy in both electric and non electric fields. Mostly motorhomes on site but that's not a problem . Also many visitors from France Germany and the Netherlands so some great conversations had.
Brilliant open space in front - Hudsons Field- more of an open park I would say leading up to the glorious site of Old Sarum. Who could want a better view.
Good 30 minutes walk in Salisbury a lovely town and the reason for all the foreign travellers. Very little to fault. There is plenty of room to park outside if you arrive too early. A great stop off or weekend spot especially for Stonehenge. Oh. And there is a nice Harvester a 10 minutes walk across Hudsons Field.
Will call in again definitely.

Just spent the last weekend here in our new 'van and despite the amount of rain we had a great time. The site's wardens are very friendly and helpful and was happy to assist when choosing a suitable pitch and even helped and advised setting up on the slight slope. The EHU field is slightly sloping with more of a pitch on the non-ehu field. The grounds were well kept and the facilities very clean. Great location as you could walk along a tow path to Salisbury and the dog loved the field adjacent where we could let him off his lead to run. No play area on site but Hudsons Field is great for kids/kids games. Huge thank you, once again, to the warden.

Just returned from a great 10 days at salisbury c&cc site, the toilet block was spotless and the water in the showers were the hottest we have experienced on a c&cc site. There are 2 toilet blocks although 1 closes in off peak times when it isn't needed. These blocks have a very useful info room and indoor washing up areas.
The managers were very friendly and helpful and the site is well run.
Some of the pitches slope slightly but was not a problem as the wardens kindly lent us a block of wood to level up the trailer.
There is a small shop on site for basic essentials such as ice cream and bacon.
The site is situated in walking distance to salisbury altho you can take the bus which cost us £6.60 return for 2 adults and 1 child which is easier than taking the car as the traffic is very heavy in the day. There is a waitrose near the site and tesco 2 miles away, a good butcher is located at amesbury and farmers market at lacock abbey on odd saturdays.
We had car trouble when we arrived which was fixed by the 2 genuine and professional gents at Janspeed which is right next to the site about 2 mins walk away. They had our car fixed in a day and you couldn't fault the service or the price :)highly recommended if you need motor repairs.
Salisbury c&cc site is very well run, well placed for local heritage and highly recommended

Have just returned from staying here over the first May bank holiday. It is a very good site and run very well. The staff are very friendly and extremelly helpful. Although it was bank holiday and the site was full all the amenities were very clean and still lots of hot water. The information room is a great resource and a credit to the site(the best I have seen).
It is very central to Salisbury which is a lovely town and lots to do in the surounding areas.
I would recommend this site to friends and would definitely return to site.

We chose this site because it's close to the centre of Salisbury and we wanted to explore the town, then head up to Stonehenge and Avebury. We did have some problems finding the site, didn't see a single sign to help us out, but that is my only complaint. On arrival the lady was very nice, as was the gentleman who showed us where to pitch. We had severe problems pitching the tent due to high winds and ending up ripping the tent in two places. We headed back to reception to ask if they would sell us a stapler / sewing kit for repairs. They didn't have either to sell us, but the lady went and fetched her sewing box and lent us needle and cotton. We explained the problem and the gentlemen then searched the site for somewhere as sheltered as possible from the wind so we could put up the tent. They were both incredibly kind and helpful.
The location is fantastic, it's easy to walk into the town centre, but there are ample car parks if you wish. Due to tent fiasco we didn't get any time to explore or visit the cathedral, but definitely will next time, as well as Old Sarum.
The facilities on the site were great. There was tons of tourist information to hand if you wanted it. The washing up facilities were great, as were the showers and loos. Everything was clean, the water was hot, and again you're encouraged to clean up after your shower, keeping it nice for the next person.
Overall - I'd recommend this site. It's in a fabulous location, if a little exposed if you're in a tent and it's windy (!), and the staff are lovely and couldn't help us enough! Facilities fabulous too. Will definitely return.

Just returned from a great campsite! Warden and staff very friendly and helpful.
Toilets spotless, showers hot and laundry facilities wonderful! The laundry also doubles as the info centre with all tourist leaflets, books on local restaurants and takeaways.
Great site for visiting Salisbury town centre, Stonehenge, Avebury and other archaeological sites. Old Sarum fort is across Hudson's Field and takes 10 mins to walk.Harvester is also by Old Sarum and does cheap value grub.
Hudson's Field was great plenty of people utilise the field ie Rugby, Football, Kiteflying, Frisbee etc.
Even though the site has a 3 storey block of flats along one side it did not feel intrusive. We felt very relaxed and safe on this site!
Highly recommend this site! We have booked to go back for August Bank holiday weekend for the living history weekend at Old Sarum.

One word says it all - FANTASTIC!
Site well looked after, Wardens extremely efficient and helpful and facilities superb.
Clean and well presented site, wardens accepted no nonsense from troublesome visitors.
Showers and toilets plentiful, lovely hot water and very clean.
Washing up areas roomy - like home from home.
Laundry room spotless and plenty of local information folders for things to do, places to go.
Nearby Harvester pub served good, reasonable food and allowed dogs outside.
Central to town centre, with local market days.
Well done Hudsons Field - would definitely recommend and return when next passing.
We were very impressed.

Spent the week of the Summer Solstice at this site, when the site at times was full to capacity. Both the facilities and staff coped with this very well. The toilet facilities are kept spotlessly clean, even more so than the usual C&CC standards.
The site's hardstanding pitches are the plastic mesh type which allows the grass to grow through, so are not so intrusive as gravel hardstandings
The site is ideally located for visiting Wiltshire and the New Forest. Although not a picturesque country setting, the site is brilliantly located within walking distance of the city centre, and a very large Waitrose.
Although the site is locked from 11pm to 7am (usual C&CC rules), there is space to leave your car on Hudson's field if you are returning to the site late in the evening.

On arriving at the campsite we were quite suprised at the location. Although we knew its central location within the town itself, it was still a little shocking to see so much 'urban' around! The view on 3 sides was houses / flats and on 1 was hillside and the Old Sarum monument! This isnt a negative, just an observation as athough close to a block of flats and residential areas - we didnt find it ruined anything. In fact it's proximity to Salisbury's town centre meant the nice 30 minute walk along a river (which was on the most part beautiful) was an interesting twist to camping in the great outdoors!
The area is split into two fields, which are separated by a hedge. The first one (the one with reception) offers electric hook ups. The field after is for none electric pitches. It is this field which has the block of flats along one side of it - we pitched the opposite side of the field to the flats so didn't feel at all overlooked.
The ground is level in the electric hook up field, but only the first part of the none electric hook up field offers completely level ground. It isnt a major slope and again we coped on it just fine.
The electric hook up field also contains both toilet blocks. The main block is situated right next to the hedge dividing the two fields and as the fields themselves arent vast - the trek to them from even the farthest corners is negligable. I only used B block - the main block, which also includes the pot washing area, laundry facilities and an impressively stocked information area. The block was exceptionally clean and offers several separate wash basing cubicles / toilets and 4 shower cubicles.
The shop offers excellent supplies, and the staff are nice. In particular the chap on his bike who directs you to a pitch!
Now for the 'downsides' - there is nowhere to store fridge packs not even at a cost - instead the shop offers a lending service, which costs £1 deposit and 45p per pack to lend. I thought this a little costly - added to the fact the shop isnt open late - keeping a constant supply of cold in your cool bag may prove difficult!
Also there is nowhere in the toilet blocks to plug your hairdryer in to. Again there is one fitted to the wall, but this costs 20p a time.
Talking of the toilets - be mindful of the cleaning times, for when they come about anyone in the block at that time is 'turfed out' regardless of what you are in the middle of. While there one person had just stepped in to the shower after a long queue (summer solstice weekend) and regardless of the soap suds etc she was told to leave - immediately!
There is a gate to enter the campsite which is closed at 11pm and not opened again until 7am so again b e mindful of desire to be out late / early. The gate offered security though as to get to the site you literally drive through a public park area (Hudsons Field) although primarily this park was used by kite fliers / dog walkers etc, it was also used by folks showing off the latest mods to their cars on occasion.
This aside though it is an interesting site where for the most part you are magically blissfully un aware of the fact you are almost on a park so close to a city!

This was the first outing in a tent for about 15 years! We chose the site as close to home, and found the welcome very friendly. The site staff took us to pitches we could use and as others have stated, the pitches are in rows marked by different heights of grass. We did feel that tents are the poor relations on the site as there are 2 fields that have varying degrees of slope. Even though the rates were the same for tents, caravans and motor homes, we were offered a pitch in the 2nd field which is the furthest away with the worse slope.
The site is also very exposed with little shelter to use. With the bad weather, our tent was exposed to the strong winds and rain. The camp site did cope well with the heavy rain and the water ran away well without turning the field in to a mud bath.
On a positive note, the site facilities were very good, very clean with plently of 'free' hot water for showers and washing. There was also a laundry and baby changing room in each of the 2 blocks. The on site shop was well stocked with essentials.
With a young child, there was no play area for them to use apart from the large public field adjcent to the camp site. We felt we (or another adult) had to always accompany the children if they wanted to play in the field.
When the sun eventually came out, the walk in to Salisbury was very pleasent along the canal path. This took no more than 30 mins on a gentle stroll.
We would use the site again for short breaks - but only if we are able to get there ahead of peak times to find a flatter pitch.
