Have just returned from another brilliant weekend at this site. Two caravans 4 children and 4 grown ups The views over the fields to old Sarum fort is a real pleasure. Everything on the site is well looked after and very clean. The wardens are friendly and helpful. My grandchildren 3 boys aged 13 to 15 were kept fully occupied with football and kite flying on the field which is separate to the camp site so no annoying ball games round the units. A pleasant walk to Waitrose Superstore took us around 20 minuets. My granddaughter aged 16 enjoyed this, cant wait for my next visit.Something for everyone.

As a Camping and Caravanning Club member Salisbury provided exactly what was expected from the majority of club sites. This was my first visit to this site and I was pleasantly surprised not by the facilities as these consisted of the clubs usual high standards and helpful staff but the location was really great. A pleasant walk in one direction took us direct into the heart of Salisbury without having to walk along roads. A pleasant walk in the other direction took us to the English Heritage site at Old Sarum which I found really interesting. The site has a gently slope which aids the drainage after rain (not that we saw any) so the ground was really firm. There is no shade at this site so depending on your opinion that's either great or something to avoid. As I said a great site which I enjoyed and would recommend to anybody.

We have just visited this site and stayed for 8 days. The staff are pleasant, polite and helpful, but do tend to flap a bit in a crisis! We pitched on the electric field as we had a rather large tent (yes it's true you are escorted to the pitch by someone on a bicycle!) . We found the aminities very nice, clean and always available, no shortage of hot water etc. Although can be a bit grimey if you leave it too late before ablutions (i.e 10am etc). We enjoyed our visit very much, one or two noisy buggers with yapping dogs at dusk but on the whole a great holiday. The ride into salisbury on the cycle path is really pleasant. On the not so positive side, we found our pitch a little windy and blustery (not surprising as hudsons field seems to be the home of kite flyers and parakart clubs). The view to Old Sarum is great but you could hear dog foxes late into the night which seemed to get some of the dogs on site yapping and also the locals use the path through hudsons field as a cut through late at night on the way home from the pub and can be a bit noisy. It didn't bother us too much at all. Like I said, we had a great holiday, windy, blustery but all in all good visit. Would recommend but possibly not in very very high season.

This site was very quiet and had beautifully kept toilets and showers . It's only flaw was that it was just one big field and I felt like I was at a car boot sale rather than camping. Maybe we'd been spoilt at the other sites we'd stayed, by rivers and with hedges between pitches but this was rather charmless. The view over Old sarum and the short walk to Salisbury make this an ideal stopover to visit the city but I wouldn't base a few days here , particularly if you have children. There is no play area and children are not allowed to kick balls even (we were told by another camper). Hudson's Field which is a huge public open space is immediately outside the campsite gates and it is felt children can play there. Which is fine in theory but my 2 were frightened by a boy racer who decided to skid around them and there are numerous big dogs running about. It's not as safe an option as the campsite play area where you know where they are and members of the public can't approach them. Our children are well behaved but did not enjoy this site as much - it's more for old people or campers with teenagers I think !

We came here for a weekend break, with friends / relatives, mainly to take in the events at old Sarum Castle.
The welcome was very friendly, and we were quickly shown to our pitches - adjacent as requested.
After a little re-arranging of the cars to allow for the 6m gap, we got on with erecting the tents.
Site very nice, good facilities, showers/toilets clean, good dish-washing facilities, and generally well kept. Very quite location, with nice, friendly staff.
A five stars from me!

Lovely site. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. We had our rear awning so asked if that was a problem. The warden took us to the pitch and even helped us level the van. The facilities were excellent and always spotless, lovely hot water too! There is a Harvester 5 mins walk from the site which we used for a meal. A great site for visiting Salisbury if you don't want to drive. It is about a 20 minute walk from the site and pleasant as the footpath runs alongside the river. Lovely views all around. We will definitely use it again.

Excellent site. Very warm and efficient welcome by the onsite wardens. Rode down on bikes to show us were to pitch. Shower blocks were spotless and warm. Tent field a bit on the steep side as you go down the hill so they try to pitch you at the top. Lovely view over to Old Sarum Castle. Will go again.
