Large C&CC site consisting of two separate fields, one of which was 'sealed off' while we were there,
2 toilet blocks one of which was also closed but although the one field in use was pretty full, the toilet block was never full.
A lot of pitch repair was being undertaken with pitches roped off while being re-seeded etc but that was fine, these things need to be done.
The site is sloping on nearly all pitches except the hardstandings so levellers are needed.
Site is ideally situated to walk into Salisbury, takes around 30 minutes each way, partly along the river and is suitable for disabled on buggies.
Is adjacent to large parkland area called Hudsons Field so dogs can be walked on there, no on-site dogwalk.

This is a well-placed site for enjoying Salisbury and the surrounding area. The site itself is very open and units (at least in the first field) are parked in rows which gives it a bit of a car-park feel. However, there are lovely open views to Old Sarum which compensate.
The facilities block is clean and well-maintained.
Salisbury is a shortish walk away along a riverside path. The Playhouse Theatre is well worth a visit - their own productions are usually very good.
Of course, there are lots of places to eat in town, but the Harvester just up the road from the site offers a good value meal too.
We have visited this site several times and always enjoy our stay. This time we took the train to Southampton for the day which was most enjoyable.
We would also recommend getting the bus from the road by the site to Amesbury and walking to Stonehenge. Lots of other walks can be taken from the site too.

Stayed here 3 nights. Pleasant site, very well maintained, and very clean facilities.
You can walk into the centre of Salisbury from the site, along the river, and you are also a short walk from Old Sarum Castle, which holds regular events (their was a jousting contest on whilst we were there).
The wardens are helpful, and yes as it says on other reviews can be a little stringent on the rules and officious, but we didn't mind that as it kept good separation between pitches, and also meant that the site was free from noisy groups.
The site is quite exposed, so it does catch the wind, but also gives you some nice views. The site is on a slope, so levellers are required, and I imagine that if you are in a tent lower down in the field where the slope is steepest, it could make for some interesting sleeping!
No play area for kids, but there is a huge recreational field next to the site which is great for kite flying and kicking a ball around.
All in all, a nice well run site, great for visiting Salisbury. If you're a noisy beer guzzling group then stay away, but if you want somewhere to stay that is peaceful and quiet, then I highly recommend this site.

We went with two children of 3 and 7. It is a great location for walking into Salisbury and the toilet block is spotless.
Salisbury was a fantastic weekend destination Because ball games are not allowed could I recommend the site lend (maybe with a refundable deposit) skipping ropes, jenga, badminton etc as my children were a bit at a loss with a car full of ball games they couldn't use.
If I went again I would ask to pitch on the rec side as the disco from the social club kept my kids up til 10.30 and ~I had to ask them to close the windows a bit.

We had a lovely welcome when we booked in to this site. We were pitched up in line with another motorhome on well kept grass. The field was a bit exposed and it was windy. Other people around us had erected wind breaks so I think it usually is windy.
The reception was open longer than specified which was convenient. The facilities were good. Convenient and pleasant walk into Salisbury.
We visited the market (Tuesday) and enjoyed the atmosphere. Didn't have time to go to Salisbury Cathedral but will use that as an excuse to return.
Visited the Harvester (5 minutes away) which was very busy even on a Tuesday evening. May be best to book in advance to guarantee a table.
We will return to this site.

Stayed at this site for the week leading up to and including Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
A large site, with excellent facilities (two toilet/shower/laundry/washing up blocks with code entry) and a huge playing field next door great for kids (and adults!). Nearby Harvester for those nights you really don't feel like cooking, and a Co-op within walking distance for any supplies you can't pick up from the site shop.
A few points worth noting however - the site is right next to Salisbury Rugby Club and attached Social Club, which can get a little rowdy of an evening - the pitch floodlights could also be politely described as 'a little bright'. (full moon X about 5 in output, I'd say).
As well as this, on our arrival we were greeted by a warden who was overly rule-bound. We didn't, granted, have the smallest tent (a Coleman Riverside 9) but it is within a standard pitch size (a point we thoroughly checked before booking). However, the warden still tried to get us to move to a 'jumbo pitch' and insisted that we leave nothing outside the tent (such as chairs, camp kitchen) even though at no point throughout our stay were the pitches that would have been affected were used.
In any case, after a comical measurement of the pitch and use of small chipboard squares as corner markers that we weren't allowed to pitch outside of (they were placed closer than the pitch size we were quoted) we got the tent up. My daughter (8) and I embarked on a game of swingball, only to be told that we weren't allowed to. (I understand the no ball games rule, but A) it's on a string, B) there were no pitches inhabited within 75 metres and C) we were not told that swingball was not allowed when we booked). We also later in the week saw the same warden ignore a game of tennis, several dogs running loose and a frisbee that was repeatedly hitting other campers tents, caravans, motorhomes, heads, etc. (and the warden clearly saw all of these whilst giving some other poor soul the chipboard square treatment).
My wife and I are patient and happy to abide by rules, but we don't appreciate being spoken down to or plain rudeness from people.
The site is in a lovely area with plenty of nearby walks (Old Sarum being one of the best) and the site itself could easily have been counted in one of our top five, but has been greatly let down by one warden, and will not be returned to.

This was our first experience of campsite camping, having previously wild camped. However on this occasion we needed to attend a function in Salisbury and were recommended to try Hudsons Field.
The welcome received was amazing, friendly and helpful. We were helped at every turn by the wardens, and given advice etc. The toilets and showers/washing facilities are beautifully clean and regularly serviced.
the site itself is lovely, encompassing the best of both worlds, with easy access to Salisbury town and the peaceful atmosphere of a out of town location. The wardens showed us the lovely riverside walk into town, which is nicely wheelchair accessible.
All in all, great campsite, which comes very highly recommended by us!

Nice site with huge playing fields next door - great for dogs, ball games kites etc especially as it was windy. Really nice walk into town (recommend crossing over the river as the walk was better on the other bank). All facilities spotless and the only downside was the warden who seemed to enjoy rules and pointing out potential misdemeanours - hopefully he was the odd one out? All in all the site was ideal for a long weekend or short stay. Salisbury is lovely and the cathedral is a must.

We booked for a weekend to join the grandparents who were already there in their motor-homes. Hudsons field is well signposted from the main road and accessed down a lane running through Hudsons Field.
The campsite reception and shop is run by extremely friendly and welcoming staff. The shop is well stocked with the essentials, but is only open certain times of day, but the Co-op down the road sells everything you could need.
Good points:
Amazing views over Old Sarum, excellent location so close to Salisbury City Centre, right next to a huge playing field (excellent for doggy exercise!), toilet and shower facilities were spotless, and we felt the site had a really friendly feel to it. The Reception staff were amazing when we lost one of our twins, and when he turned up they brought him straight back to our caravan (he had tried to follow Grandad to the toilet block!).
Not so good points:
We felt that there was nothing for our 4 year old twins to do – no ball games allowed and no play area which was a bit of a shame, but we did know before we arrived. It is also worth noting that the area where they placed the tents was on rather a slope, which I imagine could be awkward for sleeping!
Overall, an excellent site, especially for visiting Salisbury, but not really a site for younger children, as I feel that there is not really anything for them to do.

We stayed with our tent for a long weekend in July. We were initially concerned that it was next to a public recreation ground but this was not a problem at all and it was ideally place for a walk into town but without the noise. The sunsets over Old Sarum were beautiful.
We were greeted by a friendly warden on arriving who showed us to out pitch in the lower field. As we arrived early on Friday there was very few tents around however the warden (a different one) was very quick to spot that a ball had been thrown and quickly told off the children (we have 3 kids of 4, 6, 8 years old). Later in the evening my daughter came back from the toilet block on her bike he was straight over for dangerous riding in the dark (there was a full moon that night). Totally unnecessary and big shame as this spoilt our view of the site.
The facilities were very clean as you would expect for a Camping and Caravanning Club site however overall it felt more a place for caravans / mobile homes than young campers.
