We arrived on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, explaining the facilities and other items. Most other campers were in caravans or motorhomes with a couple of trailer tents and some tents.
The site is perfect for visiting Salisbury and the surrounding area. It is a 30 min walk or a short cycle into town along a cycle path which runs bear to the site.
The campsite is on a slope, near to the start of the slope up to Old Sarum. There is a great view of Old Sarum to the North but otherwise the site is a bit uninspiring, laid out in a simple grid system with no natural curves or shelter, other than the sloping pitches.
We were well placed near to the reception building, were the site is at its flattest. You will need to prepare for a sloping pitch as even most of the hard standings have a slope!
The shower blocks were very clean, as expected from the C&CC. However we were disappointed that the nearest block was shut for the duration of the bank holiday as the site was busy enough for them both to be open.
The site doesn't really have anything for younger children. Older children can leave the site and play on the rugby pitches on Hudson Field next to the site.
There is a small shop selling essentials and WiFi is available at £2 per day. A large Waitrose about 15 mins walk towards the town. This also includes a good selection of John Lewis items if you have forgotten to pack something.
During our stay the site was quiet during the night and apart from the flood light near reception the site is fairly dark.
My only suggestion would be for the C&CC to do some landscaping to improve the level of the pitches and the aesthetics of the site.

Have just returned from a long weekend break to Salisbury and chose this site for it's location. It was perfect and the staff were ever so friendly. They really put themselves out to help you, provided lots of information and ensured we got the full discount that we were entitled to, even though we didn't go expecting any. It's great to be able to walk to Old Saram from the site, and we also found it easy to walk into Salisbury. Nothing negative to say at all about the site and will definitely return.

Camped over a very cold Easter weekend at Salisbury C&CC, and had a great time.
It was a late booking due to having to change site as a result of adverse weather.
The staff were extremely helpful as always (this was my third stay), and gave me a pitch with some shelter near the facilities block as requested.
The pitch was massive, and I was lucky to have it as the site was not busy.
The water temperature in the showers was not particularly hot. It was probably fine for warmer weather, however, not so when day time temperatures were barely above zero! However, the issue was quickly dealt with by the staff after campers requested for the water temperature to be turned up a little.
The facilities were spotless as expected for a C&CC club site.
I love this site for its close proximity to Salisbury city centre, and the big Hudson Field adjacent to it, which is loved by my dog as he can run riot with other dogs that frequent the field.
The site has no play area of its own, however, the massive Hudson Field next door more than made up for it. It is excellent for ball games and flying plans and kites.
Plenty of lovely walks close by, including Old Sarum, and the Avon Valley Nature Reserve close by.
A fish and chips van visits the site on Fridays and the occasional Tuesdays, and the price for a big portion of tasty fish and chips is very reasonable.
The only issue I have is the manual gate for vehicle access. Hopefully, it will be upgraded to an automatic barrier system in the future.
I am lucky to have such a lovely site so close to home, highly recommended.

We had our first visit to this site, really pleased with the site. Excellent facilities, cleanest campsite we have been to, kitchen, showers, toilets, absolutely spotless, really friendly staff, couldn't be more helpful, 5 star all round,
Salisbury has loads to offer with bus stop just opposite the site or a taxi ride at £6.00, staff even went out of there way to charge my laptop for me, many thanks,
Look forward to next visit.

Clean dog friendly site, nice big park for dogs and kids adjacent to the site, Nice view over old Sarum Castle unfortunately also views of housing areas and the the nearby road (but not the noise). Facilities clean but snug shower cubicles. Friendly wardens who were kind enough to lend us a levelling ramp which you will need on this site. Site was busy when we arrived, slightly resembling a caravan storage area, not exactly what you would call a 'pretty' site but functional. It is well situated for exploring the beautiful city and other attractions including Stone Henge which although outdoor, strangely it is not dog friendly!

Stayed here over the August bank holiday and had a great stay. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful, the site and facilities were all immaculately maintained, no queues for showers etc even though the site was full.
It's a great location just on the edge of Salisbury but with a semi rural feel - Hudson's fields next to the site and the old fort are great for walks. Can't fault the site, would definitely return.

Just stayed here, first time back to camping since our kids were little.
Very clean site, clean toilets, good size site not to over crowded, very near walking distance to Salisbury.
The only thing to bear in mind, is not to get put near the bottom left hand corner, if you want some peace and quite.
There is a social club just over the fence, handy for a beer, but noisy. I would have hoped someone might have told us.

Stayed for 3 nights over the Diamond Jubilee weekend. Was first offered a small pitch at the bottom of the site but due to a number of last minute cancellations (a rumour had got out that the weather was going to be bad!)swapped it for a larger pitch nearer the social club.
Yes it sloped a bit, but not too bad and the club noise was not intrusive.
Walked into Salisbury twice along the river - much recommended. Visited Ringwood and Shaftsbury on a bike tour the second day and walked up to Old Sarum when we got back.
Can recommend the rugby club bar adjacent to the site for a beer in the evening and the Harvester, up the road, if you don't fancy cooking. Stuck our head in the social club but was full of chavs and kids.
The site staff and facilities are all that you would expect of a C&CC site and would recommend it.
And the weather. A lot better than it was in London and those that cancelled missed out!

Just returned from a very enjoyable 7 night stay on this site with my wife and two children (5 and 12 yrs). I have been to the site before and previously provided an unfavourable review owing to one warden who was a bit too strict, and at times rude! I am pleased to say this warden is no longer on the site, to leave very polite, helpful and courteous staff to allow an enjoyable break.
This site is very clean with good facilities and an excellent view of Old Sarum. The only possible improvement would be more facilities for children e. G. Climbing frame, swing.
However, the walks from the site are good for families with a very nice walk into Salisbury and a sports centre/swimming pool only half a mile away. I am pleased to say I will definitely visit this site again.

Just had 2 nights at this site and would probably go back again as it's so close to home. Just a word of warning about traffic, Salisbury on a Friday night is gridlocked, so don't be surprised if like us you get delayed by a good 20 minutes.
As previously reported the site does slope so take your levellers, especially if you're in the lower field. If you're in a tent then it's going to be fun rolling together at night!
We were on pitch 76 by the hedge, so had lovely views west. Did the lovely walk in to the City with our 2 dogs and yes it takes about 30 mins. Watch out for cyclists who think the path is just for them!
Facilities all good but only 4 showers in the lower block, so a queue had formed in the morning.
Only disappointment was the wifi. Having paid my £10 I then could not get a stable connection, therefore unhappy kids.
Other than that it's very neat & tidy, quiet [even with our 3 on site] and a real surprise given the approach by road.
