We spent the Whitsun bank holiday weekend at this site. It was our first time at a camping and caravanning club site and it was also the first time we had been camping with our one year old daughter.
The site is well run and maintained the facilities were always clean despite it being very busy over the weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful (they were able to put our friends in the neighbouring pitch - this may not seem much but we have been to sites where you would think we were asking them to do something obscene). There is a parent and child room, which we did not use as it did not have a shower but if you had a smaller baby it had a Belfast sink so this may have been good as a baby bath.
The site itself is fairly small, but this could be a deception as it is right next to Hudson's field which is a large open space which would be good for team games, kite flying etc. There is no children's play area either on the site or in Hudson's field, but there is a quite good one (our daughter liked it) in the park which is a 10 minute walk down the hill along the road (A345) into the city.
There is a small Co-op next to the park and a Waitrose just off the ringroad when you join the A345. Sainsbury's is in the centre of the town and Tesco's is the other side of Salisbury on the A36 from Southampton.
The site is right next to Old Sarum and you can walk quite a way around the site without having to pay entry, which is restricted to the central castle mound. The Harvester which is uphill from the site (but along the road) provided a place to eat out of the wind and was convenient for the site. The Five Rivers leisure centre was near the site (you can walk there along the river route that you get given when you arrive) but due to the deluge we drove and it is only a very short drive and you don't need to touch the ring road. It has all the usual leisure centre facilities. We used the pool, which was very good. There are in fact 3 pools a baby / young child pool, a deeper children's pool and a main swiming pool (25m).
The one(very minor and personal)down side was that there were a lot of caravans and motorhomes when we were on site and with everyone in rows gave a bit of a feeling of uniformity.
All in all this was a very good site - we were persuaded to join the club and we are already considering a return trip and have booked another trip at another of their sites!

Spent Spring Bank Holiday at this site and will definitely be back.
Staff are very friendly and efficient - they certainly earned their keep on this very busy weekend. The usual C&CC officious attitude is there but relayed in a friendly way.
As others have said the facilities are excellent and well able to cope with peak demand. The two toilet / shower blocks in high season mean that one is always available if the other is being cleaned.
The pitch spacing any layout meant that the site, although full to capacity, didn't appear crowded.
We had other activities planned in the area so didn't get to try the walks to the fort or into Salisbury. We did however make good use of the huge Waitrose supermarket close by to wine and dine like Lords! (There's also a good Sainsburys and Tesco available)
Salisbury itself offers lots of attractions and has very plentiful inexpensive parking, together with lots of restaurants and take-aways, the menus for which are available to peruse on site.
This site really offers the best of both worlds - a peaceful quiet setting, with a great city within walking distance. We're already looking forward to a return visit.

Nice little site. Perfect for walking into the lovely city of Salisbury (approx 1.5 miles along the cycle route/river). Fab views of Old Sarum Hill Fort - especially as the sun goes down in the evenings!
We arrived to a very warm, friendly welcome from the wardens who checked us in and took us to a choice of 'hardstanding' (plastic matting on grass not gravel) pitches. Pitches were small and in neat rows but fine for us.
There are 2 toilet blocks with plenty of toilets, showers and vanity/wash basin rooms but only 1 was open last week due to it being 'out of season' and not full. This didn't cause any problems at all - we never had to wait. The shop always seemed to be stocked with the usual handy goodies. There is a laundry on site which also houses the information room which was packed full of folders and leaflets telling you all you needed/wanted to know.
It's a short walk to the Hill Fort at Old Sarum and well worth it as the views are fantastic. We sat and watched the light aircraft landing and taking off at Old Sarum airfield. There did seem to be constant aircraft noise but nothing too annoying!
Not far from the entrance to the Hill Fort is a Harvester pub/restaurant with plenty of outside seating - and they allow dogs outside!
This was our first experience of C&CC sites and we were impressed.

The site was very clean and the showers etc were perfect. The wardens were friendly and helpful. However we didn't like this site, because it was mainly caravans and moterhomes in the electric field. Everything was pitched in a row formation and when in your tent all you are looking out onto was another caravan. I think the location is great for Sailsbury, but a bit urban for us. We were going there in August, but I will cancel now and book something a bit more tent friendly. We were never made to feel unwelcome, but a bit like the poor neighbour. Come 6pm everybody retreated to their caravans to watch telly.

Just returned from a really enjoyable weekend at Hudsons Field, Salisbury.
Immaculate shower block, friendly and helpful warden, good camadarie, level pitch, quiet, handy for the town just follow 'the golden way', easy to find and really nothing to fault it at all.
There really is something about waking up and seeing an iron age hillfort in the distance albeit through a slight drizzle.

Just had a weekend here, but have previously stayed in 2000.
Lovely site close to Salisbury, as others have said, a not too difficult walk into town.
The tent/unpowered part of the site is at the bottom of the field, in parts slightly further from the immaculate showers/toilets. The tent field is slightly overlooked by some flats, but there was no noise from on the Friday and Saturday nights that we stayed there. There is no shade so might be a bit hot in a heatwave, but in mid September was perfect.
Had a stroll up to the Old Castle pub, didn't eat but nice for a drink anyway. The rugby club around the corner apparently welcomes visitors.
The wardens were extremely friendly and couldn't be helpful enough.
Would definitely return to this site.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend here. The warden was very helpful ,giving us a map and drawing on the route into town along the footpaths, the local stores and other information. The site is sloping so you need levelling blocks, but she told us where to place those too.Two shower blocks meant that even though the site was pretty full we didn't have to queue. The walk into town took about twenty minutes, nice and traffic free.Market day on Saturday. We found a great Chinese buffet restaurant in Fisherton Steet ,lunchtime £5.50 for all you can eat ,20 different dishes.Well worth a visit. We walked up Old Sarum, the ruins of the old castle and cathedral.Once again no traffic. This site is ideal for visiting Salisbury, especially as you can park the car and walk everywhere.

This site is always busy, there is a good bus service into Salisbury itself, We have been many times and will certainly be back again sometime this season, It is very clean and the site managers are always very helpful They usually reserve the standings for the disabled as they are close to the showers, and although sometimes a bit far from the water we had plenty of hose pipe to cope.

We stayed at this site for our very first camping trip and must say that we were highly impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay. The shower & loo facilities are excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome as 'newbies' by all that we met. The site is adjacent to Hudson's Field which leads up to Old Sarum which is where the original Salisbury Cathedral was built and is well worth a visit. There are ruins of the Cathedral and also the Castle. There are lovely views and walks from the campsite and a Harvester pub/restaurant is only a few minutes walk away. Hudson's Field is a huge area that can be used for games, kite flying, dog exercising etc. One of the days we were there we were lucky enough to see two lorry loads of racing pigeons being released and it was quite a sight to see them flocking and then heading off to their destinations. The beautiful Medieval town of Salisbury with its magnificent Cathedral is only a short distance away, perfect for sightseeing and shopping alike. We will certainly stay at this site again and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the Salisbury area.

Typically good Camping and Caravan Club site. The site is on the edge of Salisbury, with the town centre in easy walking distance, there is also a Harvester about 5 minutes walk up the hill. The site itself is rather featureless - basically two fields (one for caravans & motor-homes, the other for tents) - but the facilities are very good - well maintained toilets and wash-blocks and a little shop. There is a huge recreation field next to the site - great for older children - but there are no play facilities for younger children or toddlers which is a shame. Staff were very helpful and friendly and accommodated our fairly large tent (7.4m's by 4m's) with no problems. Overall a very good site - of particular interest to tent owners is that the site is on chalk grassland. The weekend we stayed was very wet - it rained pretty much solidly for 24 hours but the ground drained really well and did not become waterlogged so, although we returned home with a damp tent, we manged to avoid a potential mud bath!
