Easter Weekend 2006, I think this site is much more suited to caravans than tents.
We were put on a small patch of grass which was practically the roundabout of the site, and it did feel crammed in, especially with the amazingly loud snorer in the next tent! Having said that the people that ran the site were lovely, and despite it being already a very low fee they gave us money back as we were not on site much and had the smallest tent!
The shower block turned out to be a porter cabin, which was absolutely freezing, as only had a couple of toilets, a sink and a shower each in the men/women's. Not a huge problem as it was a small site but it was hard to use the facilities with them being so cold.
On the plus on arrival you did get a sheet telling you the nearest pubs (including quiz nights), shops and local info, with an attraction leaflet section in the ladies, which was definitely a nice (and unusual) touch.
The site is perfectly located for Warwick Castle, Kenilworth Castle, Charlecote Park, Stratford Upon Avon and the lesser know but definitely recommended Lapworth Canal, Burton Dasset Hills Country Park.
For the low price, it is a recommended touring base, but maybe at a low peak period with warmer weather!

We've just returned from a 4 night stay on this site and must say how disappointing the facilities were. The site itself is small, with 30 well drained pitches, of which about 6 are hard standing set in a beautifully elevated location over-looking farmers fields, about 6 miles from Warwick. Although the utilities ie: water points, chemical disposal point, were all new and of a good standard, the toilet block was an old, inadequate and damp portacabin, which only consisted of 1 toilet,1 shower and 1 sink in the male side, and 2 toilets in the female side with again, just one shower. We visited in February and the block was too cold for comfort in the morning, although its fair to say was kept clean by the site owner (apart from the bucket of water and mop left to mop the shower, which didn't get emptied the whole time we were there!). To us, the site had the facilities of a CL, and if it had been the appropriate price we would have no complaints. But at £12 a night in low season we felt we were short-changed and would warn anyone thinking of going in the summer to be ready for a long wait for their morning shower!

We have just returned from a very pleasant week made all the better by the fact that it was half term and this site is 'adults only'. The site was exactly as advertised, quiet and picturesque, and even though the weather left a bit to be desired (it being the week after quite severe snowstorms) the park was indeed well drained. Mrs. Elgar made a point of giving us the chance to pitch off of the grass, despite the fact that the official hardstandings were all taken, and she was very helpful to us throughout the week - nothing was too much trouble - for which we were very grateful. The only reservation we have is that the spotless toilet block was small and may struggle to cope during peak season. We shall certainly consider visiting again.

What a fantastic break we have just had at this site & what a find! Delightful site in gorgeous surroundings. There are lots of good walks in the area, and is not too far from the lovely Leamington Spa, great area with loads to do & just a short distance to Southam, which will cater for all your needs. Site owner Mrs. Elgar is very friendly, helpful & laid back so site had a very relaxed atmosphere.
My only down side, but kept really clean were that a few more showers / toilets would be useful, which I believe Mrs. Elgar got planning for, but it didn't affect our visit. To finish, tell your wife to bring her broom-stick, there’s a lovely black cat here (Sooty) which enjoys a good flight from time to time. All in all brilliant. I`ll be back!

Lairhillock is a quite site in a nice location. There are two nice pubs the nearby village of Long Itchington (2 and half miles away) that serve good quality real ales: The Duck on the Pond and The Buck and Bell. We enjoyed a really good meal at the latter, and would recommend it highly. Southam is a 4 mile car ride away, and has a good selection of takeaways (Indian, Chinese & English), shops and a small supermarket. There are lots of good walks in the area, and is not too far from the lovely Leamington Spa - well worth a visit. Although the facilities on the site are basic, they are spotlessly maintained by the owner, Mrs. Elgar, who is really helpful and friendly. If she can, she will go out of her way to ensure you feel welcome and have a pleasant stay at her touring park (thanks Mrs. E)! Whilst not being too stuffy, this is not a site for rowdy parties past 11pm (thankfully)! We enjoyed our stay at Lairhillock, and may well return at some point.

We have just returned from our first visit to Lairhillock Park having had a most enjoyable time. The park is small and facilities are limited - one shower each for men and women and an overflow shower in the washing up room. Despite this, we didn't have to queue at all for the whole visit and both showers and toilets were always very clean. The site has only been open a year and extra facilities are planned.
The staff were extremely helpful and we were well looked after. They were very willing to pass on information about the local area, which is very beautiful. Although Marton is the closest village, Long Itchington (really!) is only a short distance away (2.5 miles) and is much the better place to eat and drink, boasting a range of excellent pubs. Particularly of note is the Bell and Buck where the beer was exceptional and the food on a par with it.
Towns nearby include Banbury (which didn't particularly impress - although the torrential rain might not have shown it to best effect!) and Leamington Spa (which was very impressive and will warrant another visit in the future). Also close by is Draycote Water which we didn't see, but willl in the future.
To summarise: pluses include location, nearby towns and friendly staff (including Sooty the camp cat - as in tent, not John Inman!), the only negative is the lack of shower facilities, but it didn't affect our visit.
We will definitely stay again!
