This was our first time camping, this site was recommended to us by friends, when I phoned, the lady told us that booking was not needed and to just arrive as there would be plenty of room. £14 for a couple, £7 single

The site is superb, the toilets are fine but slightly old, we did not try the shower block so can't comment.

We arrived on Saturday morning set up tent at the back of the field (bit of a walk to toilets, but fine)It really helped that the weather was perfect, and Llandudno is only a 2min drive, we were told we could walk to Llandudno, but I would not advise it!

Very very pleasant stay, would certainly go again.

I am new to camping, but this was great!

Also, the owner drove around in the evening making sure we were all ok, nice!

Just came back from Dinarth hall, spent 2 nights there to try out our new tent and see how we got on.

The people who own it seemed friendly enough. When we'd got our pitch,(an electric one) we were a little worried that there wasn't much room for our big 'gelert horizon 8 tent' as there were tents on both sides of us already, apparently you are supposed to pitch central to your pitch number and we couldn't as both our neighbours had taken up space on our side and not pitched central to their numbers.

Anyway, the camp seemed ok, functional. The ladies toilets were older but clean, (they get shut for 30 mins a day to get cleaned I think). I never had to queue to use the toilets. The shower block was a short stroll from the toilets past the farm buildings and are used by the men and women, again a bit older but clean and did the job, big cubicles with a cpl of hooks, a bin and a small stool in each. The water was nice and hot,you have to keep pressing the shower to keep it on,(like at a swimming pool)

There is also a laundry room and dishwashing place,oh and a chemical toilet drain with hose, which is handy. There are lots of big bins for all your rubbish, (which fill up very quick).

On our second day quite a few tents arrived so it got a lot noisier, with music and kids playing football on the grass in front of our tent, it did become a bit of a pain after a bit as footballs and tennis balls kept either hitting our tent or just whizzing past us.

On the whole this campsite is quite nice, handy for visiting the north wales coastline.

If your not keen on kids playing football and don't need an electric hook up there is plenty of room to select a nice quiet spot on the field.

Just spent Bank Holiday weekend at this site. Was a little sceptical after reading some reviews but nothing to worry about.

We had electric hook up and a very nice spot. Some of tents were quite a stroll to toilets. And even though it was quite busy the toilets were kept very clean at all times and never had to queue. Showers were clean and water was hot, but only fault was not enough hooks for hanging clothes etc on.

Bus stop at end of Lane into Rhyl or LLandudno.

Rhos on Sea 5 mins in car.

Pub and garage 5 mins walk.

Ended up here as we wanted somewhere to stay for Bank Holiday weekend at last minute, as this site said they didn't take bookings we were slightly worried. Well, we needn't have been, what a lovely site, very easy to find. Camping field was flat and had tonnes of space, and well looked after, toilet and shower facilities were kept nice and clean, and not that far away as previous comments stated. A bit of noise from one of the fields but didn't go on for too long. Children loved the animals around, cows, horses, chickens wandering the site, also spotted an owl on one of the trees. Only 5 minutes drive into Llandudno, or 20-30 minutes walk. All in all a lovely clean friendly site, ideal for families would definitely return.

We visited in April this year 2A & 2C (6yrs & 12yrs), had a good week, it was quiet there, but the kids were happy messing around in the big field, the play park was also good according to my 6yr old, facilities were fine in my opinion, youngest enjoyed going to see the cows in the shed and the chickens at the farm area, plenty to do in the surrounding area.

We had beautiful weather but a chilly prevailing wind, we were able to pitch where we wanted, so if your in a caravan, I would park close (back the van onto the wall) to the wall to get some shelter just in case it's windy when you go. (if the wind is in the same direction of course!)

Upon arrival, it was as if a time capsule burst; a weird experience. I suddenly realised that this place was very familiar, and with good reason. It was the campsite that a group of about 10 of us camped at, in 1976, whilst at school. It has changed little in over 30 years, except maybe the newer houses on the approach road (I could be wrong there).

Its a cracking site, with a superb location, just inland from Rhos On Sea, and others have accurately described the facilities and local transport. The 'farmhouse' is quite something, more like a small mansion. Very friendly site, and kids will love the working farm aspect.

Great for wildlife, and like the best campsites, really has that feel good factor that you can almost touch. Great for kids, and just as good for bigger 'kids' up to 80. We none of us are too old to get that buzz!

I can imagine it can get quite full and noisier on bank holiday weekends, but if you are camping you are on holiday, so let your hair down a bit! The facilities are basic but more than adequate. What do you expect? 'Teak, rosewood or mahogany' for your breakfast tray, as said the wonderful Basil Fawlty.

We had a great weekend here, helped by the weather, and wandered down to Anglesey and into Snowdonia. Scenery to die for! The tram car at Great Orme in Llandudno is worth the money and effort. Glad we did that. Love the place.

Great to see that Llandudno is also starting to wake up and live in the modern world. New shopping centre etc. It won't survive forever on old wrinkly couples, coach trip holidays. I'll give it another 10 to 15 years relying on that before it dies out. The world changes.

What is absurd, and the old world, is the general attitude by local pubs to letting children in. They didn't, we found. Not in the evening. Now I can understand that unruly kids are not wanted, but well behaved ones. In a family holiday-orientated area, this attitude sucks! And a credit crunch on, and how many pubs closing per week? Not everyone wants to be tucked up by 9.00pm with Horlicks, you know! This seemed to apply to Llandudno, Rhos On Sea and Colwyn Bay (was/is there a local bye-law?).

It meant one driving to get to, but special mention goes to The Castle View in Deganwy, who threw such rules nonsense down the drain, when it was obvious that we were quite housetrained! A fab pub overlooking Conwy Castle, modernised tastefully, excellent ale and I believe the food was excellent. The high street hostelries of Conwy were also good. The George and Dragon was a gem. Great atmosphere and ale.

However, of special negative mention and inclusion, take a step forward:

Cayley Arms, Rhos. Shocking attitude. Were asked to leave due to child. I checked their website earlier and it stated children and families welcome. Which way do you want it? Avoid.

The Ship Inn, Rhos. Owned by the same people as The Cayley, I believe. We almost went in, but were put off by the look of the place. Seemed populated by yobs. Probably didn't let kids in anyway. Still, yobs were OK. Avoid.

And a very special mention goes to the following. Back in 1976, I have fantastic memories of a country pub down a back lane from the campsite, which transpires to be The Queens Head in Gladwydden. Now??! Its been ruined. A restaurant, and doesn't let children in at all.

The attitude of the Lounge Lizard there, that spoke to me when we tried to go in, stank. The place used to be a wonderful country pub in a tucked away spot. Now. Its vomitous! Still, if you have your BMW or Volvo 4x4 outside, and your yacht in Conwy marina, I'm sure you will love it. Its crap! You can be a restaurant, or you can be a pub, but you cannot be both (properly)in my book. The Castle View came close to being both, though.

I'd love to hear other peoples experiences of this area, with children in particular. Any other watering holes, here, that buck this trend? Its a shame, that people on holiday/on a break are treated like 2nd class citizens because of this sort of outdated attitude. It puts me off going back to this excellent campsite. In holiday areas, I have only found this attitude in this area.

This was our first trip in our new caravan and found the journey and approach to the site to be easy. The site is well located for touring the north Wales coastline and Snowdonia, particularly easy to visit many areas using the bus service which stop outside the gates and covers most of the coastline even Anglesea. Many beaches within the area are easily accessible.

We were suspicious when booking the site as it was the only site we could find at last minute during the busy season. We were however pleasantly surprised.

The caravan field was well laid out and pitches of a good size, although because it was one large open field there was no privacy (which didn't bother us).

The toilet block was only a short walk along a path and we found the toilets to be clean and functional. There was a washing up sink and a laundry room but we didn't use these so cannot comment. The shower room is unisex and in a different place to the toilets. Each shower is large and so great if you have a young family as you can all fit in. Again the showers were clean, functional and free!

Childrens play area basic and would benefit from a fair bit of TLC, however the kids had a short play on it.

We found the general atmosphere to be relaxed and friendly and would return if visiting north Wales again. When returning we would request a pitch on the opposite side to the camping field to ensure we couldn't hear the general noise from the camping field.

This site is in a beautiful spot with stunning views all around over fields and hills. The site is even and all pitches are on grass, when we visited some pitches were very waterlogged. Ours was fine, once we found it, please note that the marking of the pitches is on flat stones let into the grass and so quite difficult to see! There is one field for caravans and motorhomes with hookups and another for tents.

The reception is in a static caravan in the farmyard and which did not appear to be regularly manned. We saw units waiting to get on the site a couple of times when there was no-one around to check them in.

The toilets and buildings are old and basic, but fairly clean and adequate. The showers, which are a walk through the farm yard, are unisex if that matters to you, but are fairly clean, large, have hot water and are free.

The location made an ideal base for visiting all around North Wales.

There was a small park for children to play, though we don't have children and so didn't inspect it. There were no rules about sitting out talking in the evening so if you like silence after 10pm, this might not be the site for you. However, we spent a lovely warm evening sitting out with our neighbours till midnight, chatting quietly and drinking wine!

We broke the key in the lock on our hitch lock when we packed up to leave and a young lad from the farm helped us out by cutting it off, which saved us calling out a locksmith.

I would stay here again.

We have just come back from a long weekend at this site, this was the first time visiting here for us.

On arrival we checked into reception (a static caravan on the farm yard) and the owner in there had no record of our booking despite us having had a receipt for the deposit we had paid. So a bit of a shaky start.

After this, we were allowed to choose our own pitch as the field was water logged.

We were able to get a decent pitch and these were level and fine.

The toilets were quite a long walk away from the caravans and the tent field but were adequate, the showers were further away still through the farm yard. Once you were there they were great, free, and lovely and warm.

There is a bus that stops nearby so you could leave your car if you wished.

We had a lovely walk each day down to the beach and from the beach you can walk into Rhos on sea to grab a coffee.

The location is superb

Quite expensive for what is on offer.

A good site on a working farm so plenty to see happening. Good flat site, good views, good facilities with free showers! Even a surprise dip in the field to catch cars - great fun - if its not yours. Handy for walks, sea fishing and paddling. Ice cream in Rhos good too.

15 min walk into Rhos for shops and several pubs. Llandudno nearby for bigger shops and noisier activities but I like the quietness of Rhos.
