I have just spent the Whitsun Bank holiday weekend at the camp site and was directed to camp in the overflow area not in the camping and caravan club field; although this did give the children a much bigger area that they could ride their bikes.
The field is generally flat, although very bumpy with a big dip in the middle which the children thoroughly loved cycling down. The main club field looked flatter but I did not go in there. Being in this field gave a huge area to pitch and we could have got a long way from any neighbours if we had wanted. Both fields were very well looked after.
The main problem was the toilet blocks and the lack of hot water. The toilets were cleaned often and were in very good condition, but the number of facilities were totally inadequate for a bank holiday weekend. It was virtually impossible to get a shower, and if you did have the patience to wait in the queue, the chances of getting any hot water where negligible.
This campsite is very easy to get to, being on the roundabout of two main roads, but suffers from the associated road noise. The area is great, and if you have your own shower toilet and / or are going in a quiet period I would recommend it. If you are going at peak period and need to use the toilet / shower block, this may not be the place for you!

The site is divided into two halves; Members of the Camping & Caravan Club and non-members. Both are level but bumpy. We stayed in the C&CC field. It did not rain in our 3 nights there, so unable to comment if drainage is good or not. There appeared to be plenty of space available between pitches.
The C&CC field is in the shape of an 'L' and has electric hook-up posts, each with 4 sockets, distributed all around the field, and with one post in the centre. There are 2 drinking water taps and 1 wastewater point. The latter is awkward to use as a result of a high brick tower around the waste point.
The non-member field has one tap and one waste point and shares some of the electric hook up posts through the dividing fence.
Everyone one shares a skip that acts as a ‘bin’ and there is no recycling at the time of this article.
The toilet/washing facilities are shared with the craft centre, with access out of hours using a £3.00 deposited key. For the men, there is 1 WC, 2 Urinal bowls and 1 free shower, and the Ladies the same except they have an extra WC instead of the bowls. There are 2 clothes hooks in each shower, but no curtains and no seat/shelf. We found our clothes were always getting wet from the spray and the mud from our shoes carried into the rest of the block. A bucket & mop per block would prevent this problem. Outside the toilets, there is an exposed wash basin for dish washing.
There is a shed that acts as the reception next to the washing up area. The owners can be called upon by pressing the bell switch. They also ask you to return the toilet key before 10.00 am on your departure day.
The web site boasts of many attractions. At the time of writing the Chocolate Making shop had closed down and the Wood Turning shop and Restaurant were still in the planning phase, a disappointment to my children. The bakery, ice cream shops and tearoom were very good.
There is a large Morrisons about 2 miles down the Scarborough road and a TESCO and Sainsburys in Scarborough too. In a dire emergency, you could pop into the Shell Petrol station, 50 metres across the roundabout.
This site is idea for anyone who wishes to tour the Scarborough area out of season and is not bothered by excessive road noise; the A64 surrounds the site on two sides and is busy until late at night. The toilet facilities are clean, warm and inviting.

We had a two centre trip in September 2008. The first week of the holiday was spent at Spital Farm. It proved to be a good choice from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
We were greeted at the gate and did the paperwork and were then shown to our pitch, which because we are members of the camping and caravanning club, was on the members area of the site.
It was flat and well drained (it needed to be because it battered down with rain on several occasions during the week), but despite this the tent didn't become waterlogged even though we did, at the time, have a tent that didn't have a sewn in groundsheet.
The site had a warm and clean toilet/shower block. The gents has one shower and one toilet and I am informed by my wife that the ladies is the same. The washing up sink is outside so you need to make sure you wear a coat if it is raining or cold.
The site is very well placed for East Yorkshires many attractions and beautiful places. Scarborough is a short drive away and Whitby is reasonably close by car.
We enjoyed our week there and would certainly go back without any qualms. They have a nice period shopping arcade with a bakers, a sweet shop and several other outlets on the site.
The site is adjacent to the main A64 and you would perhaps expect to be disturbed by the traffic, but this wasn't the case for us. We spoke to lots of people who are regulars and none of them had a bad word to say about the place.

Stayed here a couple of nights after Christmas - just to get away from it all. We arrived on the Saturday night but no one answered the bell on our arrival so just found a plot and hooked up. We were self sufficient so managed without the facilities , which was a shame because on Sunday we got he key (dep £3) (and were told off by the owners for not knocking on their door - but I always consider that private and don't like to do that out of hours unless an emergency) Any way the facilities were brilliant very clean and warm. We didn't find the road noise kept us awake and we enjoyed our short stay the Christmas theme market on site was good as well, we will definitely go back again, especially out of season.

Just come back from a weekend here and can recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the area. If you are a Caravan and Camping Club Member there is a members area which is a little more sheltered and has electricity on all pitches. The staff were friendly and helpful and as mentioned it was a very reasonable £12 per night (2 adults + 2 Kids) and they were happy to take a larger tent (Vango Diablo 600).
The toilets are very clean, tidy and warm (just wish some people would clean up after themselves). The Showers are free with one each for the men/women. The only issue was the sink for cleaning dishes is on the wall outside with no roof, so make sure you pack your waterproofs for doing the dishes in the rain.
The Dickens Christmas Centre was a nice surprise and the kids loved it, there are some nice shops including a bakery and a sweet shop. There is also a Petrol station just over the road if you need something late at night.

The kids and I just came back from spending a few days at this site. We had a good time (apart from the weather!)
The site owners were away and Steph (the owners sister) and Malcolm were running everything very efficiently. We paid a £3 deposit for the key to the 2 toilets and shower in the ladies. I believe the mens have the same. These were always clean.
The site is surrounded on 2 sides by the A64, despite the low noise from the traffic it is still peaceful. We had sheep behind us and cows at the side, who were all silent at night!
The stars are amazing if you get a clear night!
Also in the evenings, Steph and Malcolm walk around the site and check everyone is ok, which I think is a lovely touch.
Malcolm came to my rescue when the kids managed to run my car battery flat.
We will be visiting again!

Stayed here a few times. Site is lovely and clean with 2 toilets and 1 shower in ladies. Plenty of free hot water, only noise is from the busy A64 which is close to the site. They have just opened their Dickens Christmas village with tea rooms and bakery, well worth a visit. 10 minute drive into Scarborough or Filey and close to Supermarket.Have booked to go back again as only twelve pounds per night including electrics.
