Just returned from an 8 day stay at Spital farm and we would highly recommend this site, on arrival we were warmly greeted by the lovely owners who made us feel very welcome straight away. We were shown to our pitch which was in a very well kept field with beautiful views. Toilets and showers kept very clean by the very friendly cleaner always hot water for the showers and washing up area. Site very well situated for all the coastal towns and some lovely villages to visit and have a meal. Spoke with the owners daily who were always always helpful with information of the local area. The site is well kept and clean, plenty of space for children to play ball games ect and also dog friendly will be definitely be crossing the pennines again to stay at this lovely site.

My wife and I have just returned from Spital Farm after a weeks stay, when we stayed in the Camping & Caravanning field. This is our second stay and our stay was excellent. The field was immaculate and the grass was well maintained, the shower & toilet facilities were immaculate, as before when we stayed at the Jubilee weekend. A new shower/ washroom is currently being constructed which will make this site even better (if that is possible)
I would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone, you are close to Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington, and the Scarborough Tandoori that delivers to site is still excellent!

I feel I must put pen to paper after reading Dersert Dwellers comments on this site I was on the Rally which Desert Dweller refers to. He was approx 100 metres away for the 10 x 5 metre tent - the "Blackpool lights" were LED 12volt working off Caravan batteries, and the speakers he talk sabout were 100 watts per channel. A lot of the tent campers were interested in our street party and could not hear, so they were invited in, I don't think Desert Dweller, maybe we should have. As for the Electric, we were running off a 2. 5 KW generator. As for road noise the Caravans were between the main site and the A64 and we got no complaints. The toilets and showers was not used by any of our Ralliers, and we saw no queues for the facilities. Both the owners are nothing but helpful and courteous and I will finish by saying that I have visited this site on several occasions and have never had a complaint.

We visited this site during the Jubilee weekend. Although we couldn't get a electric hook up, it didn't spoil our weekend. We took our weekend tent, a Vango Venture 500 and managed perfectly ok.
There have been reports about the limited amounts of shower/toilet facilities on this site, but this did not bother us one bit, we are late risers anyway, and I always cook a full breakfast before we go out usually after lunchtime.
The shower facilities are spotless and are well maintained and you don't have to put money in to get a shower. For all those who said that there are insufficient shower facilities, further shower facilities are now being installed.
Alan and Sandra go out of there way to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay at there site, they have plenty of experience in the past of running camp sites !
Unfortunately during our stay, people were a bit selish when they were using electric, which caused the electric to trip out and kept Alan up all night sorting things out.
There is lots of information in the reception area, including takaeaways etc that will deliver to the site, one of which is the Scarborough Tandoori, excellent food !
To summarise, this is an excellent campsite which we will be returning to very shortly, with our Outwell Georgia XL and staying in the C & C field.
Thoroughly recommended !

We visited this site and only just got booked on last minute as it was the Jubilee bank holiday and we had just bought a new caravan. The site is very large but next to a busy road and you hear cars and lorries all day. The site was packed and also had a rally on it with the caravan club everybody was in good spirit for the jubilee celebrations. The site is good for children as the field is nice and open and you can see them playing safely. The downside to this weekend was the poor toilet facilities and showers, because of the amount of people a portaloo type shower was there but this wasn't very good because it was so small and awkward to shower our 2 boys the toilets were insufficient for all of the campers too. The second issue was the constant electricity tripping out day and night which was really annoying and when we returned from a day in Scarborough there was a sign up saying no electric fires to be used. We put up with this electric issue but some campers voiced their opinion to the owner but nothing changed. But to finish on a good note it's close to Scarborough and Bridlington and there is a morrisons super market a few miles away.

This site on first impressions looked very nice
The pitches were ok and had electric hook up
We stayed over the Jubilee weekend and there was a caravan club rally on the site too. They had a great big marquee and made lots of noise on a night time with very loud music. We had issues with the electric hook ups constantly and this was possibly due to the amount of electric the marquee had to run everything in it. We complained to the owner but nothing was done about it
The toilet and shower facilities had no hot water in the showers and for the size of the site there could have been double the amount of showers
Dog friendly site with good exercising areas
Site was close to Scarborough and Filey which was good
On our departure we complained about the electricity issues we had all weekend and asked for some sort of refund but we were told no and asked to leave the site and we would never be welcome back on this site ever again which we thought was very unfair

Positives Site clean and tidy, on a good bus route, easy to find
Negatives, shower block 1 shower 1 toilet each for male/female and portable loo, with large rally on site, not enough.
Problems with electrics over two days, power cuts to electric hook-ups, too many people on site to cope.
Restaurant closed so no food on site.
Some people did not have keys to shower blocks as they had run out !

We booked into Spital Farm for 3 nights, and when we arrived in the large open field that is the campsite, there were large group of caravans circled around a marquee at the top of the field - a caravan club rally (I won't mention which one). All was well until that evening when the 'entertainment' started. The PA system was so loud and I mean loud, I'm sure they could hear it in Scarborough! We go to music festivals, and it felt much louder than some of those due to the tents close proximity. Completely unnecessary for the size of the marquee and considering the location. It was a cross between Peter kaye's Phoenix Night's and vic Reeve's Pub singer. I'd have laughed if it hadn't been keeping everyone awake! This went on until 11:45 PM, despite the camps rules of no noise after 11 - clearly printed on the flyer you are handed when you pay.
Aparently there were big problems with an electric failure on site. People who had paid for electric points had no heating, hot water etc in their caravans. If they'd turned off the PA and the associated Blackpool Illuminations, then maybe the electric would have been OK. A sign appeared the next day asking people not to use their heaters etc. Not good if you hadn't brought any alternative.
When my wife asked the site owner the next day if there was going to be a repeat of the previous nights noise as our children couldn't get to sleep, she had no idea, but she did point to the organiser of the rally who happened to be standing next to her and he said 'Oh, could you hear it?'. I have nothing against clubs having a rally, however when you ring up and book I feel you should be told that there is a rally going on that weekend so you know what to expect or make alternative plans.
Standard facilities are 2 urinals, one toilet, one sink and one shower (mens), and similar in the womens which are actually part of the tearoom - inadequate for a campsite of this size. They had set up a port-a-loo and port-a-shower for this Bank Holiday weekend, but when I walked past the flush wasn't working on the port-a-loo - though presumably this was fixed.
There are no facilities for children, other than the field itself.
And yes, the A64 is noisy. The campsite is bounded by the road on two sides and the noise bounces back off the trees and hill. Maybe not an issue if you are in a caravan, but in a tent it's very noticeable.
On the plus side, it is handy for Filey and Scarborough (especially the Park & Ride).

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to spital farm. The owners are very friendly and very helpful nothing too much trouble.
The toilets and shower blocks were exceptionally clean and fresh.
I just hope that the centre will get a few more shops but the bakers is well worth a visit beautiful cakes and bread.
I am quite sure that we will return in the near future for another visit. The site is very well kept and rubbish free. Locations are within easy reach by car.
A lovely place for a relaxing holiday.

This was our first family camping trip. There was 6 of us in total in two tents and for our first outing we had a great time!
As this was our first camping trip we didn't really know what to expect! The pitches weren't that level and when it rained one of the tents did get wet inside! Which wasn't that great but then we will look more closely at the pitch level in the future.
I'm glad we went at the end of the season as the site wasn't too busy. Had there been more campers it would have been even harder to use the toilet/shower block.
There were only 2 toilets and 1 shower in the ladies and 2 urinals, a toilet and shower in the men’s. The other problem was that if someone had been in the shower less than 15 minutes before you then there was no hot water and therefore a cold shower was all that was available. I wouldn't like to visit the place in the height of season!
I was disappointed with the 'craft' centre. The impression I got was that the owners didn't have the time or interest in making what could be a great attraction work. There was only the bakery and tea rooms open, and was far to dark and dingy for my liking!
Location wise the site is ideally situated for Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby - all of which we visited during our stay.
