Mill Hill Farm is a very friendly and tranquil site. The warden was very helpful at all times and nothing was too much trouble for him. The site is kept clean and tidy at all times with adequate disposal facilities. The shower, toilet and washroom block is brand new and is kept immaculately clean; although being closed for two hours from noon 'till two for cleaning does seem a little excessive; my wife also said that there were no suitable shelving in their area to put anything on. The main area allocated for tents is quite steep and it is difficult to find a level area to pitch on; most of the level areas are taken up by seasonal touring vans; which also gives the impression more akin to a static site; also as has been stated in previous reviews the tent areas are really far away from the toilet block and a very steep climb up if you are allocated a pitch at the bottom of the slope! All this said we had a very nice time and The Fox Pub in Darsham and the Emmerdale farm shop, both a mile or so away are well worth a visit.

Mill Hill Farm is a gentle sloping site. It is made up of several seasonal caravans with spaces for caravans / tents.
TV reception is poor if your near the entrance to the site as the trees get in the way. Further up the site would be much better but that is where most of the seasonal pitches are.
No play area for children although enough space for the children to play sports.
Facilities are spotless. Caravans must use organic toilet fluids and not the pink / blue stuff.
Wardens nice, friendly and helpful.
Costs were good £16 pn for a caravan / awning / dog / EHU.
Good location for the beaches at Dunwich (pebbley) and Walberswick (Sandy). Walberswick you can go crabbing or watch people doing it. Southwold is a lovely town to visit and has all amenities.
If you have a dog, they are not allowed on the beach at Southwold albeit allowed along the promenade and the pier. Check the Suffolk coast website for details.

A site more suited to those with Tents than Touring Caravans. We were placed bottom of quite a steep hill, which meant we were some considerable distance from the toilets and showers. The owners of the site were helpful and friendly.
The biggest drawback is that there are hardly any touring pitches available as they are taken up by seasonal pitches. Had we been made aware of this at the time of booking then we would probably have found somewhere else to go. The location is good and the surrounding villages are attractive.

Just returned from a two night stay at this quiet site. Set in glorious countryside with plenty of birds tweeting, and owls hooting and the odd occasional baa and moo!
Good selection of shops at Saxmundham and Southwold was great.
On arrival, the warden was very pleasant, directed us to our pitch and showed me the loos, showers and pot wash. All were immaculate, but did get a bit grassy / untidy by morning. I expect this though. Showers were good- always hot. Had to wait for loo and shower once. Very small handbasins and no sockets for hairdryers etc!
Washing machine and tumble dryer available at extra cost.
Most tent pitches were at the bottom of a steepish hill. We had very dry weather but maybe lots of rain would be a problem at the bottom, but the ground was very firm. The pitches themselves were also unlevel, but we didn't find it troublesome. Long up hill walk to toilets, especially at 3am in the morning! Some lighting of the site though. No security gates.
Lots of families -children playing ball etc.
Lots of long term caravan pitches with not too many coming or going. Lots more tenters about.
All in all a very pleasant site.

Peaceful location minimal traffic noise with nice size pitches although ours was on a slight slope, site not really suitable for children as no play area. Lovely quiet fishing lake, however swims in need of repair.
We visited Dunwich Heath and used Coastguard Cottages car park only about a 10 min drive away. Lovely marked walks through Heath or along the coastal path shingle beach no sand.
We walked for about an hour along a path to The Eels Foot Inn Eastbridge which seemed a nice pub you can get a nice pint of Bitburger and a bite to eat! Would recommend site for a relaxing break.

The site is ideally situated for easy reach of Southwold, Aldeburgh, and all the Suffolk coastal villages, it is just off the A12 for easy access with a caravan - however you feel like you are in deepest countryside at this quiet site.
We had a warm welcome on arrival and asked if we wanted help to pitch our van (someone that came onto site after us was pitched up with the site tractor!) and one of the wardens even offered to take our dog to stretch his legs - how nice!
The site seems to have mainly seasonal sited caravans, but they are obviously used a lot, as a steady trickle of people came and went, but it never felt busy. I would say this site would be best suited to adults rather than families, there is no play area, and badly behaved children are not tolerated.
The showers, washing up area, and laundry room is quite new, and was spotlessly clean, my only criticism would be the push button showers only gave me time to lift the shower gel up before it went off! and although I never had to wait, there is only 2 ladies showers.
The pitch for us was perfect, lots of room to turn our van however we wanted it, and with a shady tree to tie the dog under, the water and electric next to us.
The village of Wesleton a couple of miles down the road has a little shop for any emergency supplies, and a pub.
We will return to Mill Hill the next time we visit Suffolk.

If you are looking for a quiet countryside campsite yet within a few miles of the coast, this is it!
A newly built shower block which is spotlessly clean and wardens who cannot do enough to help you during your stay. What more can one ask for??
If you enjoy walking, cycling, or just quiet drives in the car then this is the site to look at. Availability for tents too so something for everyone.
We're not going to shout about this site too much because we do want to return later in the year for another stay but we would certainly recommend you give them a call or e-mail them for a break. Easily worth a weeks stay if not two.

Very quiet site with beautifully clean new shower block. Seems to have mainly seasonal pitches so very quiet whilst we were there but very friendly non the less. Location great for visiting the stunning coast especially Southwold and Aldeburgh and a visit to the local Bell Inn well worth the effort.
Please note if approaching the site from the north, it is the second Darsham turn off, we took the first and ended up doing detour.
