Just back from a very pleasant 4 nights at this site. We couldn't fault the facilities. All very clean and the site is well looked after by the friendly staff. As others have said, the shop is well stocked and very reasonably priced. We didn't use much as we used the Co-op in Leiston and Tesco in Saxmundham. The pitch was big and more than accommodated our 6 berth tent plus car and BBQ/play area. The site is very quiet with little noise after 9pm. I would strongly recommend you take fishing gear as the lake is superb. It is well stocked and I have never caught so many fish (Roach/Rudd and Tench). The kids loved it and all caught about 20 each. Bait is available in Saxmundham but you can catch on bread paste. We had a nice day in Thorpeness and a row on the Mere is a must do. Aldeburgh is worth a trip and is very classy plus a great spot for some fish and chips.
Overall a very nice break. I suspect we will be back and can strongly recommend it.

I spent four nights at this site and my wife spent two weekends and all the nights in-between.
A lovely site indeed which we shared with a load of stargazers. I hope they weren't put off by the cloudy nights.
The site is not far off the A12, easy to get to and close to Aldeburgh, Southwold and Minsmere. My wife spent most of her time there at Minsmere.
The site's facilities were modern and everything worked as intended, though we tend to use the washroom in the 'van.
We'll probably visit again.

With this being our 2nd ever camping experience, we had no great expectations.
We took our 3 children (7, 5 & 2), and I have to say I was more than pleased. A friendly welcome and even allowed to start setting up a little early as the pitch was available.
No silly extra charges for sun awnings, extra cars, extra people, or dogs. Just a fee for the night (£18 when we stayed) with electric and have to say from looking around at other campsites, its really well priced.
Everyone was friendly, the shop is well stock with all the essentials you might need and not overpriced either, so we ended up getting a few bits for the tent while we were there!
The showers always had hot water and were always clean. We only used the older block as we were directly opposite so had no need to use the new block in the field behind us.
They have a fishing lake which is free to fish if you are staying, guests can pay if they want. - I wish I took my fishing gear with me!
If I had to criticise anything, it would be that they could do with a playground area for the children, but saying this my children only mentioned this once. They were more than happy to play amongst themselves or fellow camping children
Having good weather probably helped us have an extra great time, but never the less, we have already booked to go back at the end of the month for the half term (which isnt hiked up in price) and cant wait!
All in all a great campsite that I would highly recommended to anyone!

Lovely site with friendly owners. Shower and loo block modern and kept very clean. Push button showers with plenty of hot water. Very close to Minsmere RSPB site, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh etc so well placed for visiting the area. We were only here one night as we were touring, and the site was very quiet but pitches are well spaced so even in higher season it should not feel crowded.
Nearest pub/shop is at least a mile away, although there are some basics sold on site. We visited nearby Emmerdale Farm shop which had a great selection of local produce, bread, cakes etc including local cider and was great for stocking up for a night in.
We didn't make use of the fishing, but believe it was included in the pitch fee (£17 inc hook up) which would be good value if you are an angler.
Overall a nice, well run site which we would consider returning to if in the area again

This was our first visit to Suffolk and this site was ideal for visiting the places we wanted to see - Southwold, Aldeburgh, Orford Ness and RSPB Minsmere.
The pitch was huge and had a hook up which was great as we were able to use an electric cool box and a travel kettle. One word of advice - bring extra tent pegs as the ground is hard.
We were near the new facilities which were excellent. Large shower units with plenty of hot water, good washing up area, freezer for freezer blocks. Whatever time we visited, the facilities were clean and tidy.
We can recommend the food at the Fox at Darsham (closed on Mondays), the King's Head at Yoxford and for fish & chips the Golden Galleon in Aldeburgh.
We liked the fact that there were no facilities specifically for children which meant that the site was quiet and we were able to relax in peaceful surroundings.

Just returned from a fantastic two week holiday at this site. The site is lovely quiet/immaculate and well run. We needed a quiet pitch as our son has additional needs and were given a pitch on the new side at top of the field near a grass play field and dog walking area. The pitch was slightly sloping but our van was levelled easily but our awning was sloping not sure how that would work with a tent but was no issue for us. The fishing from this pitch was a minutes walk away and the pond is beautiful and well kept.
The toilets and shower blocks are are both the older side and the new side and are kept very clean. The site was busy as it was mid-august but we never queued for a shower or the toilet. There is a pot washing etc but we didn't use this we did use the freezer free of charge for ice packs.
Only problem we had was chemical waste etc goes into a outside toilet as my husband is on crutches due to broken back it was difficult to lift the waste up high enough.
Shops were quiet far but planning helped this but an added bonus a couple of really quiet beaches ten mins away. We loved Sizewell beach and so did our Labrador spending a lot of time here with cool breeze been really nice with inland temps of 29.
We would definitely return here and have said if it was nearer home we would have a permanent pitch as the site offers everything and more for a perfect quiet family holiday where you fall asleep to peace and quiet and wake refreshed.
Thank you to everyone there who are not only professional but very friendly and have a wealth of knowledge of the area.

A very quiet and well kept site with fine views across the shallow valley.
Site is unsigned from A12 but follow the sign for Emerdale Farm Shop. Entrance is half a mile further on, marked poorly by a small A-frame sign.
Farm Shop is very good with a wide selection of Veg and locally produced meats.
There is a small shop on site.
A short drive to a beach.
Pubs with food 15 minute walk away.
Unfortunately there is no playground, but there is plenty of space. Bring bikes rather than scooters.

Went to this site with 2 small kids and my parents. 2 caravan pitches booked together. Owners very accomodating. Site lovely, well spaced, well placed site for lots of nice places to visit in area. Facilities good, showers sometimes a little slow but solar panels probably the reason(at least they are environment conscious). Fishing lake nice for kids to use. Only thing missing is a small kids play area, site would then be perfect!. No complaints, very friendly and reasonable. We will definitely all be returning.

Great site. We visited with family, 4 tents plus tourer and were all sited next to each other. Toilet block very clean although the showers were a bit erratic especially if more than 1 was in use at same time. Dog walk was lovely, and hubby fished every morning in on-site lake. We were lucky to see an owl on several occasions circling around at dusk. Good pubs at Westleton and lovely walking around the abundant heathland only a few miles away at Dunwich and Westleton.

Just come back from a great time away. The site is really lovely and clean The amenities were really clean which is nice to see, shows the owners care. Nice big pithches, nice peopl. My Husband loved the Fishing, which gave me peace to read my book, and it was great having the dog walk for the begin and end of the day toilet time walks. Lots of good walking also which is great when you have your four legged friends with you, nice pubs also.
We will be going back.
