Excellent site, spotlessly clean with huge hard standing pitches. Wardens were very friendly and toilets were spotlessly clean with heating and piped music. Great Toddler wash room as well.
Good children's play area on site .
Never spent much time in Grantown it's self but this site is a short drive from Aviemore where there are numerous attractions, pubs and restaurants.
I would highly recommend this site to anyone coming to this area

We stayed over the Easter holidays and were located at the upper rear of the site, the pitches here are huge. Van, awning and plenty of room for the car. Do not expect to get a TV signal here we managed to get sound only on Ch4.
The toilet facilities were as per CC standard, the only niggle was the showers ran out of hot water a couple of times (luckily that was with the wife).
As noted by other reviews I was glad that I was pitched well away from the kids play area, one night I was passing this area whilst walking the dog it was about 21:45 and it sounded like WW3 was in progress, one of the warders was trying to mediate between the waring tribes without much success.
The dog walking around the site is excellent, the old Highland railway line was directly behind our pitch although the walk up was very steep and the better approach was out the site and to walk up the side road to the overbridge where the railway walk could began.
The dog was well exhausted by the end of the week.
The town is within 5 minutes walk which is level and paved. There is a well stocked CO-OP, Indian restaurant (recommended), Chinese, chip shop bakers, butcher, pet shop, and a hardware shop etc, etc.
I will be returning and recommend this site to others.

On arrival Friday afternoon was a little put off by the 'sharp' not very friendly wardens that were on duty, we were told to follow the warden on the scooter & was guided at speed to our super pitch for the week (armed with the sky box which was available at reception). The kids loved the play park suitable for all ages. The toilet block was lovely and warm, showers were either a trickle of water or full power but most importantly it was all very clean (I saw a warden in cleaning at 10pm one night)
We went to reception to get local info and was very surprised that there were different wardens on duty and they couldn't have been more helpful and nothing seemed to be any trouble for them. Met the owner of the park and he was a very nice helpful guy.
We will be back to the site soon.
There were children still playing in the park well after 9.30pm and the dustbin men emptied the bins twice during the week both times before 7am! no signs up to warn people of this very early alarm call!

We stayed here recently. We found the pitch we were given quite small and only just fitted our outfit and awning with little room for our car.
We were situated quite near the play area for kids, having been given no other option from reception. It was extremely noisy and most kids played well after 9.30pm which was unacceptable, being that our kids were already in bed for 9pm and quiet !
The new toilet block was ok, there was insufficient hand dryers and the shower pressure was unpredictable.
Personally I found the toilet block too warm. The was one other toilet block, a bit out dated but looked fine.
Grantown was a 5 minute walk and a lovely location.
I can recommend the laundrette area though, I used 2 machines and both washed in 30 minutes, the dryers were excellent as well. A bit costly though at £3.50 per wash plus up to £2 for drying.
I would recommend this site for out of season camping as over easter it was too busy for us.

This is one of the best sites we have been to the toilets are excellent & there is a toddler room available for a £10 refundable deposit. There is an excellent play park for the kids and opting for a fuilly serviced pitch gave my husband more of a break with our 3 children.
The down sides for us were that we found it very expensive as we were charged per child including our 6 month old baby who did not use any facilities at all not even the toddler room because she fitted in the caravan sink for a bath. There were 2 sets of wardens one of which we did not find friendly or approachable.
There is only 1 small co-op which we found rather expensive for a family shop. Our kids loved their trip to Landmark but mainly enjoyed playing at the caravan site.

Stayed here for two nights during the heavy snowstorms in the first week of February. Was one of three units on site, but the majority of the facilities were kept open and well serviced.
By far the best toilet/shower block in any campsite I've been to. Good shower with large cubicle and an internal curtain so all your stuff doesn't get soaked.
We had 10 inches snowfall overnight but the grounds staff had cleared paths through it and gritted by 9am.
The pitch seemed big, but the whole place was covered in snow so it was hard to see where one ended and another or the road began! Had TV aerial point and plenty of electric hookups.
My only complaint would be that the WiFi was a bit pricey, but at least there is WiFi!

My wife and I have just returned from a stay over Christmas. The site is first class and the best toilet block ever, it even has underfloor heating. It is a great area for walking and mountain biking. A five minute walk to the town which has lots of small local shops. We also had a good night chatting to the locals in the claymore pub on the main street. Our only regret is that we could not stay for the new year but we will go back in the spring

Fabulous site. CC affiliated but if you're not a CC member it's only a pound per night extra. Fees are reasonable, so the extra is not that noticeable.
Booked in, wardens were very friendly and took time to go through everything, even although they were very busy with cancellations for the next day's arrivals and people wanting to leave a day early as strong winds and high gusts had been predicted.
I have never booked in and come back to the car with more than I left with. The extras were a sky box for the tv reception and a code for the wi-fi access. One warden escorted us on his moped to the pitch and helped direct us to the ideal spot, taking into account the fact we were putting up a full awning. Both extras worked flawlessly during our 5 day visit.
We had paid a couple of pounds a night extra for a fully serviced pitch. It was great and worth the extra as waste & water on pitch, 16A hook up, was flat and near one of the loo blocks (which was heated). Standard pitches have 10A hook up, are higher up on the site and not all are level. Had a slight problem getting the rock pegs to hold as the surface is a bit strange - about two inches of loose gravel, some kind of thick, fibrous, plasticky matting and various subsurfaces that varied from very loose to solid tarmac or rock.
Facilities included a games room (which we didn't use), two large toilet blocks, with sink only cubicles as well as shower cubicles, and at least one large laundry room with reasonable prices and commercial sized machines. Toilet blocks both very nice and always clean. Showers could have done with being a bit better - the first I used seemed to have the temperature selector restricted so was a bit lukewarm, the second similar but it was the on/off that was restricted in its turning this time, so pressure was low as not fully on.
There is also a large tent field with about a dozen round, 6 seater, picnic tables and a small covered eating area that could seat 8 at most.
Grantown itself is only a five minute walk away with a variety of shops including a good sized co-op for the size of the town. Inverness is only about 20 miles away, Aviemore about 10, so lots to do in the area. Took DD and OH to Landmark, a local adventure / educational centre. Tip - buy a day ticket, and if kids enjoy it so much they want to come back, go back to reception between 3 and 4.30 where you can upgrade your day ticket for a weeks pass at a cost of £4 each. Or even a season ticket for unlimited access up to 31.12 at £8 extra each. (2008 prices). One downside, apart from the cafe and the small microscope centre, all other activities are outdoors.
All in all, a great holiday, and one we will repeat in the not too distant future. Access to the site from the main road through Grantown was very good. Site is open from approximately 16 December to 31 October each year, although both sets of wardens live on site all year round and there are some year round static residents too. The site also offers seasonal pitches, storage (year round, on a month by month basis March to October, or over the winter only), and static pitches but does not allow statics to be sub-let.

This has got to be the best site I have been too, the toilets are immaculate, they have piped music and are heated and that makes a great difference when getting out of the showers on a cold day. The children's park was very good and a games room for the rainy days. The pitches are big, we stayed on a super pitch you get your own sky box, water and waste, there were 3 adults 2 children and 2 dogs and that cost 22.50 a night to me that was very very good value.
We woke one morning and the snow had covered everywhere, we took our sledges up to Aviemore and had the best time ever, the children loved it, it really did make our holiday, unless you live up in the hills, children don't really get to see proper snow these days, so that was the best bonus we could of asked for.
If you have dogs there is a disused railway near the site. Granton-on-spey is in walking distance of the site great for provisions. This a lovely and fantastic part of Scotland that I would come back to without doubt. The people who run the site are friendly and helpful and do a fantastic job of keeping this site immaculate
