Nice level site with well-marked pitches. Delightful, friendly staff. All the facilities were spotlessly clean and it is obvious that the ablutions block was cleaned several times a day.
There was a complete absence of litter. Everything was neat and tidy and carefully thought out for the convenience of guests.
The site is close to a busy road so there is some traffic noise during the day but we had no difficulty in sleeping at night.
There were lots of children during our stay and they all played together very happily.
Unfortunately, too many parents allowed their children to ride their bikes on the roads on the site which made life difficult for even the most careful of drivers. I fear that one day there may be a serious accident.

We visited in our new van for it's first run with Carole's sister in the awning. We booked on the back of reviews on here. I am glad that we did and agree with all the great reviews on here.
Lovely, well run and laid out site, immaculate showers and toilets. Site shop adequate for daily essentials but supermarkets in St Austell nearby. Excellent value for money. Really enjoyed my stay at this peaceful, restful site.

We had a fabulous 2 weeks at Little Winnick. The pitches are level and the grass was cut frequently. The showers, toilets and washing up facilities were always clean and tidy. The bath in the family bathroom was a real bonus for our 18 month old daughter. The staff were all friendly and helpful too.
Being right on the cycle trail was really handy and meant we didn't have to use the car except when we wanted to go further afield. We cycled to Mevagissy, Charlestown and the lost gardens of Heligan and also to the supermarket in St Austell. You can walk to the beach and pub and cafes in Pentewan and into the woodland (Kings wood?). Also lovely walks along the coast from Pentewan.

Just back from a great week at Little Winnick. The site is in a good location - it took us about 30 minutes to walk to Pentewan along the cycle trail, and it's only a short drive to St Austell for supermarkets and shops. There is also a small shop at the filling station in Pentewan. The site shop also sells essentials - and cakes, sweets and ice cream - and also has plenty of leaflets for local attractions and information maps for most of Cornwall. Although there is a fair amount of traffic along the road, it didn't bother us, even though we live on a quiet street.
Toilets and showers always clean and although the shower is push button and the button has to be pressed quite frequently, the water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. Showers are free and there are two free hairdryers in the ladies. The ladies toilet cubicles also have sinks. There is a family bathroom with a bath.
The site staff (owner Richard and wardens Mike and Carol) are friendly and very helpful. We phoned on the Friday to ask if we could arrive a night early - Carol and Mike explained how wet the site was but Mike went to look at the grass pitches and they rang us back to say there were a couple of areas we could use so we were good to go. Throughout our stay all 3 (Heidi was away visiting family) were helpful and always willing to give ideas and information.
The Ship Inn in Pentewan is excellent, with bingo nights, quiz nights etc, even out of season, and friendly welcoming staff. The Piskey Cove cafe in Pentewan is also good. We walked to Mevagissey along the Coast Path - took about 1. 5 hours, and also in the other direction to Charlestown (about 4 hours). Truro is about 30 minutes drive and Lands End about 1. 5 hours drive.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again. Good price too - we paid £108 for six nights for 2 adults and an 11 year old, on a grass electric pitch.

This was our second visit here and it was just as good as the first. The site is flat and beautifully kept with laid out numbered pitches and ample water points and bins around the site. The facilities are almost new and of very high specifications and large enough even if the camp is full, I never had to queue and there was usually a choice of showers. Situated next to a road means there is some traffic noise but for a townie like me it was not intrusive and like the rest of Cornwall it seemed to close down after 11pm. St Austell is only 5 minutes drive and has everything you need and the Eden project is close too. The price was ridiculous £10 per night for 2 people and tent and 7 nights for the price of 5, that's £50 for the week. The wifi was brilliant just as fast as at home and cost £15 for the week. We shall return anytime we go to Cornwall, I just hope it doesn't get too crowded as people find out about it.

This is a family owned site and I believe they also own another one down the road. It is run by a family. Before booking they answered my many questions on the campsite and the surrounding area. It does have a shop, with the basics, but does not have a swimming pool, cafe, restaurant, bar or anything social - my kind of site. It has a main road (B3273) on one side and St Austell River on the other so is good for security. There is a rally field too.
From this site you can use a footpath, cross the river and walk along the river and through the woods to Pentewan village/hamlet. A further wiggle and you're on the beach. About a 20 minute walk. There is a campsite which backs onto the beach - Pentewan Sands. It is the complete opposite to this campsite.
Pitches. Pitches are lovely, large, green and flat. Most have EHU and some have hard standing. There are a few non-EHU pitches at the far end of the site near the playing field. It is on a main road and road noise can be heard - whether you notice it or not depends on what you are doing. The way it is set out you are never far from the wash block or even the play park. The wash block has the wifi booster on it - so a good signal. Just zero for mobile phone reception - hence this campsite has a 'proper' phone in an old fashioned red phone box at reception.
Play park. This is near (but not too near) the exit to the campsite. It ticks the boxes and gave the children somewhere to play. The playfield/football field is much better but you need to find a friend to play with first - hence the need of the play park. The playfield is at the far end of the park past the non-EHU pitches.
Wash block: The washblock is a very modern building and has recently won loo of the year, which was one of the reasons I choose this site. It is split into the mens' side and the womens' side with each being a mirror image of the other - so I am told! The womens' side is divided into 2 - toilet side and showers side. Toilets has a row of toilets - say about 10 (some were kept locked as it was not peak season yet) with the first few being larger cubicles containing toilet and wash basin. This is great for families and corralling your children so that they do not (cannot) run off. There was also a row of basins for washing - no cubicles. The shower side was 4 large showers. There was a hairdryer and a full length mirror, which is rare on a campsite.
Washing up. There is a washing up covered area which is part of the wash block. Several sinks, washing up bowls and drainers. This contained an ice block freezer. Which is great as you can get your ice blocks at any time of the day or night.
The area. We visited Mevagissey several times. It has very narrow roads and you WILL have to park in a public car park and pay (a lot). It is an old fashioned fishing village which we sampled the scoopy ice creams and also the pasties. It has a great view of the harbour with lots of benches for people watching whilst you eat lunch. There is both an inner harbour and an outer harbour and both are good for crabbing or eating pasties. We took a boat trip from Mevagissey to Fowey. We managed to see some dolphins while on the boat - what a treat. We were not keen on Fowey it was just lots of tourists and touristy shops but a lovely day out, just we won't be going back. We went to the beach at Caerhayes castle. It was nearly deserted and lovely. Next time I think we'd like to visit Caerhayes castle too.

We have visited this site twice now with our trailer tent. It is a lovely site, level, beautifully kept, very clean and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return and can definitely recommend it as worth a visit! The situation is also lovely, right by the Pentewan cycle trail and a lovely walk to Pentewan village. Bus to Mevagissey or St Austell is just near the entrance and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are not far away. Only downside is the poor phone signal but then that is not uncommon in a Cornish valley and a feature of many parts of Cornwall.

Stopped here for 2 weeks on the rally field with Bedfordshire Centre Caravan Club.
Really nice and well maintained site with. Shower block always clean and tidy and not too old. On site shop is was good for forgotten essentials but would have been useful if it stocked toilet chemicals.
Site is right on cycle path so you can walk or bike into local village with beech and great pub, only about a mile or half or for something more energetic path goes to Mevagissey but very hilly. Local pub the Ship Inn has something going on most days, our favourite being live bands on Sunday Afternoons in there large beer garden by the old harbour.
Can also recommend the Kingswood which is less than a miles walk from site, not the cheapest restaurant but the food is great.
While in the area the St Austell brewery is worth a visit, the tour price gives tokens to spend in the shop or you can use them for beer tasting, the food in their bar is great.
Although we did not use them the site appeared to have very good laundry facilities too.

Very nice site, very well kept by the owners. Spotless showers and toilets, generous size pitches, good play area for children and large meadow field for dogs. The only downside was the traffic noise, it was constant and very loud. For this reason, we would not visit the site again which is a shame because it is lovely and people do seem to return there so the traffic noise does not bother others. We live in a semi rural area which is very tranquil and quiet so perhaps the traffic noise bothered us more as we are just not used to it.
