Our one night stay on a hard standing pitch with EHU was ok and close to the toilet block. The pitch was level but weedy and whilst surrounded by hundreds of statics there was a nice grass area behind the pitch with a central flowering border. The reception welcome was exceptional but we found the toilet block to be dated and the cubicles small and lacking in shelving/hooks. The shower was also on one of those wretched push buttons to keep it going - not what you expect having spent £25 (including £1 for a dog) for the night.

We did not use the outdoor pool or entertainment block, which looked more like a large shed!

The sea wall was close by and through a large grass area used by non- electric caravans and tents. There are pleasant walks but the beach itself did not appeal. The site shop provided newspapers and fresh bread - useful.

Overall a good stop over but pricey and in need of refurbishment to justify the charges.

This was a family meeting point to celebrate an upcoming 90th birthday.

Welcome

The staff were friendly and very helpful and we were in our caravan by 14:00 as advertised for the Gold Plus Caravan.

Caravan

We chose the Gold Plus caravan as we deemed this as being most appropriate and this was recommended for five adults sharing and a toddler. We were a little disappointed with the size of the caravan, due to losing space in the living room area and in the bedrooms. It was the same size as the Silver caravan, but as they only have three bedrooms, the rooms, living area and bathrooms are larger. We hired a high chair which was also in the caravan on our arrival and in good condition. The Gold Plus caravan said that it would come with two bathrooms. Ours had a toilet (with no sink), and then a shower and sink in the other small room. A sink in the toilet room would be highly recommended. The travel (baby) bed we hired was in good condition, but it would not fit in our room- luckily there was a fourth bedroom, however the beds had to be upturned and put to the side to fit the travel bed in. In this case, the Silver Caravan may have been a better option as there was a little more room throughout. I would suggest a little more care and attention to be taken over the cleaning of the caravan and also washing the curtains or replacing with new curtains. Storage was very good.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse was always pretty loud. We went in there on arrival while we waited for our caravan. The tea and coffee were not so nice. The ladies toilets were a disgrace, and there was always rubbish all over the floor throughout areas of the clubhouse. We asked on more than one occasion for a bin liner to collect the rubbish. The first time a member of staff did this, on another occasion we had to do it ourselves. It could be recommended that the space between the entertainment/bar and amusement arcade is set up with chairs and tables to be used for families who would prefer to eat their meal in a quieter setting.

Food

Family members had the flexi dine option and felt the food was good for the money. There were many options, and as a gluten free person, there were two meals that I could eat- Jacket Potato and Salad and Cheese Omelette- both lovely. I didn’t inquire about other gluten free meals. Food was of a good quality and good portion sizes. Family members recommend having the main and dessert rather than the starter and main.

Play Area

I was quite disappointed that the only thing for my 18month toddler was a baby swing. The only ‘play’ equipment offered was a large maze of tubes for older children to enjoy. We did however find a nice playground for our 18 month toddler along the beach front, when turning right from the site’s large grassed area, and walking about 20-25 minutes.

Swimming Pool

We only went in once but my toddler seemed to enjoy it and it was beautifully heated. The two joining pools are not so big when many people are in and I would recommend an additional paddling type pool being built with shallow water for the 0-3 year olds, as older children would come in to the pool where babies and toddlers were and this wasn’t so much fun.

Beach

Only for information. The beach is right next to the caravan park however this is a pebble beach and not a sand beach. Margate is a short 30minute drive away with good access for parking, and has the most beautiful sandy beach.

We were unsure what to expect from a touring site within a large holiday complex with many mobile homes. Usually the touring park is a poor relation and the site is overpriced. Happily this is not the case with Seaview. The reception us professional, the site is clean, tidy and well organised and the loo/shower block is good (very clean but lacking a stool or seat for storing clothes during a shower). The price was £16/night for a motorhome for two people plus a dig incl. Electric hook up - which seems reasonable. The location is about 200 metres from the sea which is terrific. The site is a 2. 5 mile walk along the sea front to Whitstable. The site has a shop and a restaurant. We used the shop but not the restaurant. A large Sainsbury's is only a few mins drive from the site. We visited in the low season and the large area of grass that sits between the main site and the sea isn't used for any camping. However if the open site is covered in tents etc. We are sure that the ambiance will change, and not for the better. So this site may be great for low season, but possibly best avoided in the high season.

Nice flat pitch's separated by a fence or hedge. Tidy clean site with kids ans adult entertainment, bar and food available on site with local restaurants within walking distance. Reception staff very helpful and with plenty of local knowledge. 2 minuets to the beach but the site has an outdoor pool. Toilet and shower block clean but as some people like to flood the floor when they wash could do with leaving a floor squeezey handy. The only downside I found was the shower cubicles could do with a stool and shelf as there was only 2 small hooks for your cloths, towel and toiletries.

A lovely flat site, within a few seconds walk to the beach. Swimming not allowed though, as mud flats. But still stunning views and paddling to do. The complex is obviously geared up for family holidays, so be prepared for lots of children !

GOOD:

Flat field, brilliant views, flat walk/cycle to either whitstable (lovely) or Herne Bay. Large pitches. Good shop on site. Sainsburys only 5 mins drive away though.

BAD:

1. Only 1 very dodgy water tap to the edge of the field

2. Toilets - only portaloos in the field not too bad if cleaned but very bad if not emptied (overflowing!) after a very busy and full campsite following whitstable festival and extremely hot. Bit of a health hazard I felt. OK there was access to the holiday park block, but this is a 10 minute walk and not good with children, particularly at night.

3. No showers in field. Shower block only available in main park site.

4. Shower block reasonable, but only 5 ladies showers for the whole of the holiday park (that includes tents, tourers and permanent pitches). Plenty of toilets with hand basins though.

5. No washing up for field - again only available in main park block. It means a trapes through the main park with your washing up - same for clothes washing.

6. We camped on the non-electric field site. If you want electric hook-up with a tent, could be a problem, as the pitches available although a good size, were half grass/hard standing. Great for a camper van/caravan, but not much good for a tent, because 1/2 of it would be on hard standing!

Having said all this, we would visit again, knowing that we know. It is in a lovely situation and we love the area.

We stayed at Sea view in our touring caravan for 3 nights in June.

The site has changed since we used it last year.

There are now only 16 hard standing pitches, the large grass field that use to be used for tourer`s and camping now has static caravans sited on it.

The toilet and shower block are the same size with 6 showers for male and female, so with less pitches there were no queue for a shower, also in the shower block is an indoor washing up area with washing machines for clothes.

The outdoor pool seemed popular with families though we never used it.

We went to the club after 9pm on Saturday so we missed the children`s entertainment, we watched the main band which was a Beatles tribute band, they were very good.

The club also serves food; the menu had a lot to choose from and seemed average price.

The site is situated right next to the beach; we walked left along the sea wall into Whitstable which took around 1-1/2 hours at a slow walk.

You can also walk to Herm bay which is in the opposite direction along the sea wall, we were told this takes about the same time to walk to.

Overall a good site which we will use again

A nice site very near to the sea. We spent three nights here in May in our campervan. Overall the site was very quiet.

The pitch was hard standing with a small grassed area to pitch our awning. The toilet block was very near. The toilets and shower areas were sufficient in numbers and were heated. The shower block and toilets were clean. They had plenty of hooks on the back of the doors etc. A nice point was that there were cubicles with a toilet and big sink in also.

We broke our electric up hook when on site but the reception were very helpful and lent us a spare for the duration of our stay. A small general store is on site which sells the basics. The staff was very friendly and personable.

About 10 minutes’ walk away is a few local shops and also a chip shop. A large Sainsbury’s and also KFC and McDonalds are about 10 minutes’ drive away.

When on site we like to pitch our campervan and walk and use public transport when possible. This site is well served by buses and trains. The train station is about 10 minutes’ walk from the campsite. We went on the train to Broadstairs and Margate, which made a change from driving, (dogs travel free!) We won’t be going to Margate again but Broadstairs is definitely worth a visit.

A big plus for this site is its proximity to the sea. It is a lovely 40 minute steady walk across the sea front to Herne bay one way. Or a 60 minute steady walk to Whitstable across the sea front. Both towns being different in character. You can walk back or get a local bus which drops off not far from the site if you decide not to drive.

We didn't use the on site club facilities so can’t comment on them. However the facilities did look small for the amount of static caravans etc. On site. The outdoor pool looked nice though.

Would definitely stay here again for its location alone, We stayed off season so can’t comment on what it would be like in the main season.

They need to update their web site. We booked for a 3 night stay in our tent and booked a grass pitch with electricity. We arrived early but was told we could pitch as our plot was free. We found our pitch and was shocked to see it was hard standing with a bit of grass. We went and asked at reception if they had a fully grass pitch but was told they are all like that. We nearly turned round and went home. Dont get me wrong the plots are massive and fantastic for a caravan but not for tents. We decided to pitch the tent, we managed to get half of it on the grass and the other half on the hard standing. We use a foot print with our tent but the stones still managed to wreck that and hole the bottom of our tent. Our plot was on the back row with the sites works garage just behind us and the noise from it was terrible, it never stopped all day. The plots in the middle of the site would of missed all that noise. Showers small and only one heat setting. Never used the club house so cant comment. The outside pool looked fantastic. The location of the site is great, right next to the beach and loads to do in the local area. Had we had a grass pitch away from the noise it would of been great and we would of gone there again. As I've already said, great for caravans but a big NO NO for tents.

Booked this at Friday lunchtime and went in the afternoon. We (my Fiance and myself) wanted a pitch for a tent with electric hook up but none was available ( our fault for booking so late ). We were on the non-electric field also known as the Lido field which is right by the sea wall. Pitches were large enough to have a large tent and a car on it. The grass was well kept and short. This field is only available for one month a year. In the field theren was a couple of portaloos.

The beach is a clean stoney beach with some vegetation growing on it. The groynes ( the bits of wood that go out to sea were in good condition )

Walking to the main washblock does become a bit of a chore but as the Lido field is only leased I can understand why they don't develop it.

The main wash block is a few minutes walk away which has free showers, toilets sinks, washing up area and washing machines - all kept immacutely clean.

The site has a clubhouse (free to enter if staying on site) which is a focal point for entertainment. Friday was Karoake and Saturday a band called Cockney Pride which were very very good. Food is available here and a deal for breakfast and evening meal is available. Take-aways are a few minutes drive away near the railway station.

There is an on-site shop which has provisions, reception desk and on-site security which you could call 24/7 if needed.

All the staff are friendly.

Along the sea wall there is a promenade to cycle on which goes to Whitstable in one direction, the other to Herne Bay.

The site mainly caters for people buying/staying in static caravans and touring caravans.

There is a small outdoor heated pool which you need to pre-book. There is pleny of space for kids and some climbing frames exist as well as an amusement arcade.

We would be happy to return again next year.

Just had our first camping experience with our 5 year old son, was given a few worrying tales about park holidays before we left and so lost the initial excitement I had when I booked it - I should not have worried we had a fantastic time. We had an electric pitch (could not have lived without the little luxuries), the pitch was more than big enough at 6m x 6m.

The toilet and shower room were ok, small but we never had to queue and always had hot water. They were not perfect, and I expect not the cleanest but they did the job - always had hot water. You did have your own key for the shower/toilets for a £10 deposit, which was not mentioned beforehand but not a problem.

The on site shop was small but very reasonably priced for the little bits and pieces, clubhouse was ok (entertainment was a bit poor but it was a midweek and so didn't expect much). There was a Tesco's, McD's and KFC just up the road so we didn't eat on site.

Very close to the beach. On site swimming pool was lovely - we were spoilt with the weather but it was well organised so that it was taken in turns for 45min sessions - very fair I thought and just long enough not to feel rushed.

One drawback was there did seem a lack of staff and wardens and not much rule enforcement, balls and frisbees flying around sometimes but no real problems.

Actually another drawback was the kids playground by the shower block was a bit rubbish for the kids, a few more bits in there would have been nice.

I would definitely go back here and highly recommend. I don't have much to compare to but really enjoyed my trip (and so did my wife so it must have been good).
