This is my 2nd review of this site, having returned from our third trip there.
I would highly recommend a trip here as the place is definitely better than our first trip there 2 years ago. The new manager is really friendly and welcoming, and has clearly made some good improvements to the site and has plans for more. The showers (that I said were pitiful last time) are greatly improved, you get a real torrent of hot water from them, and the whole site is spotless and well maintained.
It's location is great and central for a wide range of places to visit for all age groups, and there's a nice little pub in the village that seems quite well used at lunchtimes, just a 5 minute walk away.

We chose Manston as it is very close to Broadstairs where we were due to visit over the weekend. It's also close to Ramsgate.
This was our first ever trip in our new campervan and we definitely picked the right place to try it out.
It was very quiet in terms of the number of other people about and this suited us perfectly. Especially as we had a disaster with our awning which ended up with it being taken off the van and left behind.
Huge thanks to the site manager, who was a massive help and supplied us with a helping hand and a spanner to get the job sorted. He also kindly let us leave the old awning behind and he would arrange for it to be taken away, this helped us out a lot!
The site itself is hedge-lined and we chose an electric hook up slot near to the toilets (which were very clean).
There is a pub called The Jolly Farmer just a five minute walk (through a gate at one end of the field). We had an excellent homely meal in there on Saturday evening, booking is definitely advisable in high season by all accounts.
The site manager is doing a lot to improve the site still further with lots more electric hook ups planned and a new reception/shop as well.
As a parting gift we got to see a Spitfire take off from the close by airfield, which was fab!
We would definitely go back if in the area.

Lovely site with hedges shielding units from the wind. Great friendly staff - very helpful and caring. Have been camping here for years. Last year when new owners took over the experience was not so good - being totally honest.
This year it has been a pleasure. Easy booking. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Clean toilets and showers. The office sells a few basics, which is great and as always, they will freeze your coolies.
All in all a really pleasant experience. I would recommend this site and will be back.
Location is great for Broadstairs and other areas. The airport is not intrusive at all. We love the fact that you can watch the planes take off and land.
Especially the special occasions when the Red Arrows are here or the fighter planes or even the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster. Superb.

This is the 3rd time we've been to this site so far this year. Beautifully kept grounds and lots of space. I don't normally write reviews but there were a couple of factors I just had to address this time as I feel that it could definitely be improved dramatically in a couple of areas.
A small thing would be to have some bin store areas in more than just one place. This campsite is set in acres of land and there are bins right at the entrance, therefore quite a trek.
Play area is all good, lovely flat grounds for pitching. Our pitch was freshly mown just before we arrived, so very thoughtful.
But the bad point is the shower block. It's just such a let down that its such a shame. We love coming here, but it's our only true fault really. There are 4 ladies and 4 men's showers (separate blocks) to accommodate the whole site.
Plenty of loos, but the showers are just awful. Very very old, need updating and they need more showers! Drainage in the ladies was terrible, big pools of water on the floor which makes it extremely unpleasant.
No shower curtains to help control this water dilemma. Because it is concrete flooring everywhere and these pools of water are not only in the showers but outside them as well, you can see in the reflection of the water the people showering in the neighbouring cubicles which is awful.
I also found some not very nice objects in the showers and was washing in the persons bubbles from the cubicle next to me!I was getting changed as quickly as I could and a man walked straight past the main door and I was horrified-the building plan could be improved. Basically it needs a new shower block with more showers.
This weekend had been a scorcher and there was no hot water left at all in the evening, all 8 of us were sticky and we had to shower our poor kiddies in cold water. Not a nice thing really.
Apart from that, it's wonderful. Less effort on hedges and more effort on a modern clean shower block please!

Visited this campsite for the 4th time in four years for a weekend with 7 other families.
The site now has a new manager as well as new owners. The new manager was much more welcoming than the old managers. The site was as lovely as ever - lush green grass, plenty of space, very clean facilities (if a bit dated). All in all, a very laid-back kind of site.
The new manager is trying to improve the site by setting up a little shop (very useful).
Even though the site is right next to Manston Airport, there is very little noise.
All in all, I would highly recommend this site for a very relaxed weekend or even main holiday as there is plenty to see in the area.

Hi Folks,
Grandad, Daughter & 3 children, just back to Hertfordshire after spending a few days at Manston Camping Site. Well laid out site with play area. Very clean facilities & looked after site. Staff very helpful & will use again. Smashing place to stay. Well worth a try. Children loved it, 10yrs, 7yrs & 2yrs.
P. S. (so did Grandad & Daughter )
We found the showers were working very well & loads of hot water at the push of a button.
A must try are the 'Haddock & Chip Special for £2-95' by the seafood stall in Ramsgate Harbour. Value for money.

We stayed here with a group of friends over a long weekend at the beginning of August.
The site is very well maintained with mature hedges screening off each section. The electric was only 5/6 amps though and some of our friends had trouble with their hook-ups tripping though we did not experience this.
The pitches were big enough for us to open out our trailer tent and park the car alongside without interfering with any one else.
There is a nice play park for the kids and plenty of room for them to run around.
The toilet and shower block was generally clean but the water pressure could be a little on the weak side if all the showers were being used but the water was always warm when I used them.
The site is next to an airport but we only saw one jet take off in the 4 days we were there so it was not a problem for noise.
All in all we would go back there again.

Firstly let me say its a wonderful location despite being next to Kent International airport. DON'T let the airport put you off, international it may be but, the low numbers of aeroplane traffic means it is not at all a bother. (Nothing like camping next to Gatwick!) Air traffic stops around 11pm till about 7. 30 am so its not invasive.
The site itself is pleasant and the people running it are really good but even they admitted to me that its now getting tired and they hope the new owners(Sandwich Caravan Site) will make improvements.
Facilities: A small toilet block that is so late 60's its like in a time-warp but I hasten to add was clean and very serviceable. However, queues did form especially towards the end of our visit when the site filled up for a local folk festival and became too cramped for comfort!
Electrics. Don't take anything powerful so leave the microwave at home and consider taking the slow cooker. At 6 amps they were useful if only adequate.
Pitches. The site is split into a main sort of camping area near the toilets and another two areas father afield. The main area is split into a narrow field and a wider field. The narrow field easily gets too congested. Chatting with the staff I know next year they are removing the dividing hedge and replanting in a more sensible place to even the filed sizes up. Talking of field sizes, it can be a long trek from some parts for the loo ladies!
Things I did not like:
Low water pressure. It took about ten minutes to fill the aquaroll more if others were doing the same. The toilets took a long time to fill so flushes could be inadequate.
The waste water/chemical disposal points were all wrong! You had to lift the containers up way to high and an aquaroll or similar full of dirty water is no easy lift especially over 2 foot in the air. To make matters worse the disposal points were even further away than the toilets!
Toilets. One hairdryer added later during our stay. One hand dryer to eight sinks.
Disabled access awkward but available.
Showers simple press switch operation, not enough hooks and no curtain to shield your clothes from the fixed spray head. Plus side. Good free hot water supply!
I don't recall seeing family facilities but as my kids are older now its not something I look for. However, we were in a large group of 38 with an even mix of adults/children and I don't recall hearing any problems from anyone else!
Statics: I don't know what it is about static caravans but they always sadden me on a campsite. Call me old fashioned but that's how I am.
Finally the good things:
The location is excellent, we have been to this part of the world for the last three years and world and will go back. Probably to this site! The local towns beaches and history are superb and you must visit Dover Castle but wear good shoes and be prepared to walk some steep paths! If your adventurous and we were one day you can park the car at Dover docks multi story and go as a foot passenger to Calais France for the day. For three including car-park ferry and bus to take us into Calais town centre, return, came to a grand total of about £60 which we were pleasantly surprised by! Don't forget to take your passport though if you considering the trip!
I don't want this report to sound negative, the site is the best we have stayed on in this area and I think it is a sad testament to the area that the rest of the sites we normally visit are so much better in many many ways!
Verdict: Would go again as the area is so nice 8~)
Moriarty.

Stayed here for a weekend with friends, a total of 3 kids and 4 adults and 2 dogs. A very quiet weekend, might've been due to the gale force winds and almost non stop rain!
The site owners couldn't have been more helpful, from the time we booked, till we left. Spotless facilities, in fact spotless everywhere and very well maintained.
No problems with our hook up, but our friends had theirs tripping almost straight away. Spoke to the 'management' and where told they are in the process of upgrading (some still 6 amp?), so moved their plug to the next box, problem solved!
The site is close to the airport, but Manston's not exactly a major international hub, so no real problem.
Lots to do in the area, some lovely beaches a short drive away. If you enjoy a beer, make sure you check out the Belgian Cafe in ramsgate, decent food as well!
Would recommend without hesitation!

This is a flat, very well maintained site with large pitches sheltered by tall, manicured hedges - just as well as the north wind did blow. Lots of families around with plenty of space for the kids to play.
The shower block was clean and never too busy. The only gripe was the push-button taps. They were apparently a new innovation but some of them didn't work well at all.
The site is about 15 minutes from some lovely beaches, particularly at Broadstairs.
There is a huge retail complex about ten minutes away featuring every supermarket and superstore you can think of.
