First impressions when you arrive at the site is how green and fresh looking it is. The reception overlooks the children's' play area, willow trees, grassland etc. We had a nice welcome from the wardens who had made the reception area pretty with flowers. We were shown to our pitch, as requested well away from the play area, leave those pitches to people who have children. The pitch backed onto the golf course so it was very quiet. It was very muddy everywhere but we have had so much rain, you couldn't expect it to be any different. It was such a shame that we couldn't sit outside but it was lovely to hear birdsong and little else! We found the site very nice, peaceful, well laid out, but think it would be a different story on a busy weekend if all the pitches were taken. We hope to come back sometime and would recommend the site to others.

I absolutely love this site, it's my second home. Since the facilities block has been upgraded it's nearly perfect. The wardens are lovely and very helpful and I have always had a good time here, since I started to visit in my tent in 2014.
When I don't feel like driving far, but I just want to get away from the house, this site is always my first choice.

This had been our first visit to a club site way back in 1994 and we remember being very impressed. A lot has changed since then. The site is still two field with a road round the outside which meets in the centre, a small ditch along the bottom splitting the field from the play area and reception. Now there are hard standings all the way round and the toilet block, which we were impressed with in '94 has been demolished and rebuilt. The new block is excellent and kept very clean. We were able to sample the excellent family room as we had our 2 & 5 year old grandchildren with us.
Holiday site managers v. Friendly, and the kids appreciated the site tractor having a Peppa Pig on the front!
There is a good Chinese restaurant a short distance away, by where you turn off the Ongar Road. Local attractions include the Epping Ongar railway, Essex Secret Nuclear Bunker (lots of signs pointing to the 'Secret' Bunker) and Old MacDonalds Farm & Fun Park. The latter seems a tad expensive, but is worth the money, the Grandchildren had a fantastic day there.

I booked another 4 days at this local camp site because family was staying there. The first stay was good but the second stay was very busy.
Good Points:
The facilities are fantastic and the managers of the site very friendly, nice little site surrounded by tall trees so keeps the wind down, don't park too near them though otherwise car/caravan get covered in tree leaves/sap. Shower & toilets, chemical waste are all new and clean and are kept clean & immaculate. The drinking water/rubbish bins are in easy reach and are emptied regularly (by the way, take a clip on hose to fill bottles or water butts otherwise hard to fill from tap) if you don't like wasp, don't pitch too near the bins as the wasp tend to gather round here and people were getting stung :(. Nice playing field and swing park for the kids. The shops sells a few bits. Ground is quite good for pegging down. Short drive to large Brentwood Shops.
Bad Points:
Rules of the site are not adhered too and the managers of the site don't bother with them anyway. Where dogs must be kept on leads at all times, campers not taking notice of this rule with their dogs running about off the lead, Some wasn't clearing up after their dogs. No Ball Games rule was also not taken notice off, with kids kicking the football around or playing catch, whereas there's a lovely big field next to the playground to do this. Barbecues lit too near the cars/tents/caravans that had high flames (they must of use lightning liquid to get them started to be this high). Can get a bit noisy at night with music playing after 10pm. Lots of kids on bikes that can be a bit dangerous on the drive path.

We booked this site (and subsequently joined C&CC) because of its location near to The Essex Way which we are currently in the process of walking. We only joined as it was quite expensive for 2 nights without and thought we may benefit from future C&CC sites later on in the year.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly warden and shown to our nicely located pitch next to our friends and told to observe the 6m rule, we then pitched our tent in the middle of the two pegs, knowing our friends campervan was within 6m of us but as soon as the tent was up we were all going out in it and when we came back we were putting 6m away.
Just as we had finished pegging out we were approached by a man who had been doing something nearby all the time that we had put the tent up and told we had to move the tent as it was incorrectly pitched. We were not asked in a very nice manner and it did leave us with a bitter taste in our mouths. We explained about the camper van and after marching out 6m he agreed we didn't have to move our tent this weekend but any other weekend he would have made us! Had we have been approached in a politer manner we probably wouldn't have felt so offended
Thankfully the other wardens on the site were extremely friendly and more than made up for this as we were immediately thinking 'I thought this was the friendly club'. Ron & Sarah couldn't have been more friendly, they were lovely and they are a real asset to this site.
The site is well laid out, spacious and the toilet/shower block is immaculate and a pleasure to use which is always good, showers were lovely and hot and spotlessly clean, lots of hooks provided too, they really have thought of everything.
We got a takeaway the first night and were reliably informed that we could have had it delivered to the site for £1 which is a great service.
You get given a code for the barrier to get into the site, this definitely makes you feel more secure than when vehicles are allowed to drive on and off at their own free will.
We would use this site again, however it is more expensive than what we normally pay so would have to take that into consideration.

Nice quiet site, well maintained. We spent 2 great nights here. It's located close to Brentwood and the M25, but feels remote and secluded. It has a new super modern shower block, the best I've seen and it was well maintained. Nothing bad to say about this place at all. Fairly pricey, but I have recommended it to others and would stay there again. As others have said, the Nuclear Bunker is well worth a look.

We only booked this site as it was the only pitch I could find with EHU at the last minute before the bank holiday weekend! But it was a lovely site. Very friendly, very well kept and good facilities. Plenty of loos and showers, never any waiting even over a sunny bank holiday weekend and lots of hot water! However on the Monday morning the showers were struggling to cope and not draining away, but only a minor issue! The family room is nice feature, especially as we visited with our toddler.
The pitch was well kept and generous size. The site is bordered by trees giving good shade. However the birds in all the trees did let us know it was morning when it started to get light about 4. 30. Wonderful to hear and reminds you of the reasons for camping, even if it was an early start to the day!
The site is easy to access from the M25 and close to Brentwood. A small budgens for essential groceries is also just a few minutes drive away. We went to Southend for a day out by the seaside, about 45mins drive but great on a warm sunny day!
The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the number of caravans! The tents were generally grouped together, but did look out onto lots of caravans in rows which I don't find very pretty to look at. Sorry!

We booked this at the last minute for a Mayday bank holiday break in our campervan as it was handy for the Epping and Ongar railway.
We were given a warm welcome and shown to the site and given a choice of pitches. We chose a gravel hardstanding on the basis that it was level. It was under trees and next to a little brook, very picturesque but worth bearing in mind if your children are small. Our grandson enjoyed the play area which consists of a small slide/climbing frame and two swings and a large field ideal for frisbee and running around. Older children would probably enjoy the stream which has a little bridge ideal for poo-sticks.
The toilet block looks brand new and is very well equipped, with hairdryers which I've never seen on a campsite before, and the showers have fold down seats and plenty of hooks. There are also washbasins in cubicles for privacy, on the whole a very good set-up and very warm and clean. It was only a shame that two of the four washing up stations were out of order leading to queues if you timed it wrong, which we did on both days of our stay.
There's a lovely restaurant at the Eagle which is fifteen minutes' walk away up Frog Lane (I wouldn't fancy walking it in the dark though).
Although a little more expensive than average at just under £60 for two nights for the three of us, the site is well kept and equipped and we would definitely come here again. If we were members the bill would have been reduced by £13. The location feels very rural but you are close to transport links right into the capital.
Nearby Ongar is a traditional small town with supermarkets and independent shops, but not many eateries. The main attraction for us was the steam railway which made a lovely afternoon out.

we were very pleased when arrived at site to find they have just had a brand new toilet block which was very nice and clean really all you could ask for. On arrival the wardens were really friendly and welcoming showed us to our hard standing pitch. The site is surrounded by lots of trees giving it a nice rural feel, nice little dog walk too there is a small children's play area. If you stay on the site go visit the secret bunker just up the road a great day out. This is a first class site with lovely staff can't wait to go back.

Just back from our first camping trip at Kelvedon hatch and I can confirm it is very nice and full of nice polite staff. All the toilets are kept spotless and grass is cut short. The gate is locked at 11pm so no one can come in and out like other holiday parks. Very child friendly and a nice dog walking area. Well worth a visit.
We are going back in a fortnight for our second visit when we shall become members and hopefully get cheaper deals.
The WW2 bunker is very cool so make sure to visit.
