This was our first visit to a C&CC club site. We chose it because it is very convenient for visiting family nearby. It also has easy access to London from Brentwood though we didn't use it on this occasion. There are two camping areas of closely mown grass, mostly undemarcated pitches but a few hardstandings too. The areas are spacious and well maintained.
Our big disappointment though was with the toilets and showers. Unfortunately these are vastly below the standard of every Caravan Club site we have used, and also below the standard we found on every site we visited this summer in France. (14 of them!)
As non-members we paid over 20 pounds a night too. I have to disagree with other reviewers who say the facilities were kept clean - I thought they were quite grubby as well as very basic. This experience has put us off trying other C&CC sites.

Great location for accessing London which is why we chose it. A very pleasant rural quiet site. According to Camping & Caravan Club this site has excellent facilities. The Toilet/Shower blocks were clean but sadly very basic and in need of a refurb. This was our first time camping in UK with C&C Club an we were not sure of what standard to expect. After a couple of trips on the continent so we were a little disappointed with facilities at home. Maybe more suited to caravans.

Very welcoming on arrival. Both John & Sue were always available to speak to and nothing was too much trouble. The pitches were excellent and the facilities were very good and kept to a very high standard, but the washing up area has only one sink and the chemical disposal area is just the other side of a wooden fence. Childrens play area is lacking in facilities for the older children but there was plenty of room for them to play ball. The area is overlooked from the reception and that gave us, as parents, a sense of added security. The dog walk is ideal, even though it is not that big, but you can walk it as many times as you wish, with dog bins provided. Local shops and pubs only a short drive away.We have visited this site twice this month, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing break.

The site is very nicely situated, nice clean site, but not enough showers, four available one not working. It also caters for tents so in a case with a tent and busy times people would have a struggle finding a shower. We were lucky that we have a shower, not everyone is going to be that lucky,

Definitely need more toilet and shower facilities.

To avoid the crowds we waited until Bank Holiday Monday to visit and there was plenty of room for our 2 small tents. The site was popular but not crowded. It rained all night but we did not experience the mud reported in another review.

The toilets are getting on a bit but kept clean. We were surprised to find 3 male showers but only 1 ladies.

Good Toby carvery in Brentwood. Secret nuclear bunker and Weald Country Park both well worth a visit.

Spent just a night at this site and thought it was lovely. It was Bank Holiday Monday and rang up on the day and managed to get booked in. We don't have electric so was put on the edge right next to the trees which was nice and private, though a few flies.
No one was to our side so my youngest had lots of room to play and learn to ride his bike. Just a small play ground with a couple of swings and a slide but big area just for the kids to have a good run or kick around. Loads of children were on their bikes going around the site, it felt very safe and secure.
Facilities were very clean and absolutely adequate. Very quiet in the evening. You can get Indian and Chinese delivered to the site, which I'll remember for next time. I'll definitely return as its not far from home.

This is a well positioned campsite with some great facilities, especially for children. However, unless you are a member, the prices are high- for example well over £10 for a single pitch. The shower block and toilets are a little dated but satisfactory. I would definitely recommend that you book before arrival because otherwise you are unlikely to be let in.

For example, I have seen them turn people away saying that they are full even though there is plenty of space. In fact the customer service and friendliness of the people running the site leaves something to be desired! They seem like a bit of a clique who hang around in an old caravan behind the reception and resent being disturbed and- heaven forbid- actually having to serve or help anyone!

Stayed for a week at this site because if its location near London and to visit family. Overall a good site but not the best I've visited. The SatNav had no problem finding the site and it is well signposted on the approach. Getting into the site with a big rig is best done carefully because there is a sharp 's' shaped turn to negotiate from one direction, and a sharp left from the other. The site road in is narrow and on a bend lined with timber posts', so if you meet another rig coming the other way someone will have to back up, round a bend, so your reversing better be good. The staff are friendly and accommodating and even allowed me to leave my Fleetwood on it's pitch all day on the last day to allow me to go a visit family. The facilities; wash block, pot wash etc appear older but are kept clean and in good repair - perfectly good enough. The electric worked well apart from one brief power cut which seemed to fix itself. Water point, bins etc are well located and maintained. It was also quiet at night. I would however recommend booking a hardstanding pitch unless there is a heatwave because the site does not drain well and gets muddy even in light rain. If Scottish or Welsh rain hit the site I think you would need an Ark! After two days of light showers the ground was sodden and my ground sheet and awning lowers got very muddy. Some motorhomes had to be pushed off the grass with spinning wheels and the grass was churned up in places indicating this is a regular problem. Muddy wheels also make the cobbled road round the site filthy. The barrier is kept closed (but not locked) at all times which is a bit of a faff getting in and out during the day, and this is something I have not encountered on other sites. Of course the barrier is locked at 2300hrs to stop vehicle movement which is fairly standard policy. Epping Tube station is about 10 miles away and parking is available at the station for a fee (beware height restriction), or surrounding side streets for free (but there are some minor restrictions Mon to Fri so check the signs). From Epping you have access to London on the Central line and family travel is cheap. Brentwood is about 7 miles away and is a fairly large town with all the usual shops and pubs including a huge Sainsbury. Chipping Ongar also has a supermarket and garage. One the other side is Brentwood there is Thorndon Country Park which is nice and used for traffic free cycling. Overall, apart from the mud, the site was good for seeing London and I would also recommend the 'Secret' Nuclear Bunker which is not far from the site - a very interesting day out. Don't forget you wellies.

A lovely campsite with a warm welcome. As we were a family they positioned us close to the park, toilets / showers and wash facilities. Which was great for those night trips to the loo with the children.

Showers were nice and powerful and all was kept very clean.

We all had a great time here plenty to see out and about, plenty of shops to get your groceries.

Will definitely be coming back here again.

We arrived on Saturday and was given a pitch next to a smelly drain. After complaining we were moved. Fair enough. We went out Sunday all day and on our return an elderly couple had been put in the smelly drain spot!

On a more positive note its good for plane spotters and people who spend lots of time admiring clean toilets. We thought it was a bit expensive too.
