Have now been on this site three times, twice when it has been really busy and once when it was quiet. The site is very clean, tidy and well looked after.
The pool is not heated so can be quite cold as you would expect from an out side pool but our Grandchildren loved it. Also there is no life guard so rules are well and truly not adhered to.
The showers are most of the time clean and tidy but think that for the size of the site there could be a few more.
There is much to do in the area and a few minuets walk will get you to shops and places to eat. The pitch sizes are not very big and at times it seems like you are crammed in (almost touching) no 6 mtr rule here.
No rules as such, football played in areas were motor homes and caravans are, we had a football under our motor home and the boys wanted us to get it out.
Reception is like Mr and Mrs Basil Fawlty very confused and manner the same.
Do think that the people that run the site should take people to their pitches and then there would not be so much confusion later on. Also pitch numbers should be on the E. Mails. Our ref number didn't mean any thing when we got there and they could not tell us anything from it.
Would we go back, only with the Grandchildren. As a couple no, not in the height of the season.

On arrival at around 4pm we were kindly shown to our 'pool-side' pitch by the very helpful and friendly staff. The site was not too busy and even though many people arrived after us, at no point did we ever feel hemmed in.
The pitch was flat and generous, with both ehu and water within very close reach. The ground was a little stoney so if pitching a tent I would recommend some heavy duty pegs.
The shower/toilet block was very clean with high pressure showers that had a good temperature. Push button (10s) rather than taps. The washing up area had four sinks that seemed ample for the number of people on site.
Did not use the laundry/elsan so can not comment on those but they were available.
The site had a small but well stocked shop. There are many shops and amenities within a short distance including, Lidl Coop, Sainsburys, a pharmacy, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway etc.
The site's bar was welcoming and had entertainment (singer) on the Saturday night. However we prefer sitting out under our awning.
The kids play area was a good size and in very good order. We had to spend almost all of the weekend chasing our toddler who would bolt for the park the second our backs were turned. She loved the swings!
We tested out the pool on the Saturday but found it to be a little too cold for our daughter. We had 10 minute dip. However may have spent more time in the pool if we didn't have littlun' with us as you get used to the temperature quite quickly.
There are some great walks to be had along the Orwell. We followed one of the footpaths down to the river and enjoyed some time down there. Next time, we plan to spend more time down there as there were some nice little spots for a picnic.
Like some of the other reviewers we noticed the road noise from the A14, but after a while it becomes fairly easy to zone it out.
Overall we had a great stay and would definitely go back for another visit, maybe even some time later this year.

Just spent one sat night at Orwell Meadows having never been before, it cost £21 for the two of us plus one small dog, trailer tent and hook up which was very good we thought. Free showers which are some of the most powerfull we've ever had with nice hot water and the shower/toilet block was heated and nice and clean. Grass nice and short and pitch flat and we could go where ever we wanted and as there was only a few others camping it was very quite. Easy walking distance to the park which runs to the river Orwell but quite a steep hill down to the water and we didn't go all the way down, shop was closed but that didn't bother us, paid 75p for a 15 min tumble dry as we had a few wet things from it raining and 15mins was plenty to dry them. Overall a very nice site, easy to find, road noise could be heard but didn't bother us and we'd go again out of season as I'd imagine it could be busy in the summer. It would have been a short bike ride to a Harvester, Mcdonalds etc (if we'd took the bikes).

This is our second visit to the site, we like the site as nice clean toilets and showers. People very friendly and the kids love the playground and the fact that I feel that they are safe enough to cycle around the site on their own.
Pitches on main field a quite small and our new tent with awning caused them a few problems. We ended up having a gap of about 150cm to the next tent.
We were not told there was a maximum size for that pitch as we booked the same pitch as we had had the year before, as liked location. Might be worse mentioning when booking your tent size.
There is a lot of traffic noise which does effect my sleep, so would only stay max 3 nights due to it.
However after all that would return, as long as be got a larger pitch! And I took ear plugs.
Loads of restaurants and shops nearby 5 min drive. Including Lidl and Sainsbury.

Lovely location for walks by the river orwell & very close to the Town of Ipswich. Would have no worry's to coming again.

I have just read a recent review and would like to correct the actual price per night for electric hook up is £22 per night in peak times and not £44, which in my opinion is the going rate now for pitches in peak season, I have stayed here several times over the past couple of years and have always found it meets all the requirements, staff friendly and helpful, the site in itself is kept immaculate, especially the shower and toilet blocks, it is a lovely little site very safe for children.
There is a lovely footpath that walks you down to the river and a nice pub that offers great food near by, I for one will be returning.

The small knit of staff were very friendly & helpful.
Very tiny shop with not a lot of choice, but there are several larger outlets just down the road within walking distance if the weather is nice.
Shower/toilet blocks small but clean although potentially I can see this not being the case when the camp site is more full.
Plenty of eating outlets near by & town centre a 10min drive. Always park at the 'harbour' a large tarmac pad next to the dock. £3 all day!
On arrival we were told there was a bar/restaurant except it was only open on fri/sat eve while we were there.
And lastly which is the deal breaker that we will not return is that, I was sold on this site with pictures of tranquil views & being next to the Orwell estuary, but infact we were literally above the A14 & the horrendous noise of traffic flow including the very heavy lorries ALL night I didn't get 1 full nights sleep, we may as well have been pitched up in the central reservation!

Lovely well looked after site. The swimming pool is not Hugh but kids had lots of fun there a little baby toddler pool too. There's a little park which you can see from most of the pitches. Kids happily played on their scooters in between swimming and playing in park, they didn't get bored. There's a small club house which is very friendly and a shop. The shower and toilet block is clean with washing up facilities. Our family and friends liked it here and have been a few times now its very friendly so I would recommend and go back

A nice clean friendly site. Toilet/shower block very clean.
Shop & bar had short opening hours. A14 was very close so could here traffic.
Walking distance to the river Orwell through woodland was very pleasant.
However quite an expensive site, with only a basic bar & shop & no entertainment. It cost us £44 a night for a family of 5 - everything is an extra cost (extra person £7. 50, child £4. 50, trailer £7. 50dog £2. 50) Camping used to be a cheap holiday but this site like many others seems to be cashing in on the fact that camping is fashionable.
