Just back from 3 nights over August Bank Holiday, Busy and noisy are the words which sum up my feelings about his site!

Pitch Sizes were minimal, and extra tents were squeezed in for the bank holiday, the road traffic noise is continuous day and night and at a volume just above bearable.

Site was very busy and 2 washing up sinks were nowhere near enough, long waits some times, although water was always hot here, showers were hot and powerful, despite the site being so busy there was minimal queuing for these, the staff tried hard to keep these clean but with this many people and so few facilities they frequently became grubby again.

Good park, shop had minimal supplies (except for sweets) lovey walks around the area and river (but all with the constant traffic noise. There is no escape), some big name family pubs close by which were good for the colder nights!

Didn't go near the pool. Nice weekend booked very last minute, but the traffic noise spoilt it for me, it just didn't have the tranquil camping feel about the place

We had another lovely stay here. There is plenty of room for your tent and car and the facilities are clean and tidy. I agree with other reviewers that the fields at the top are noisy, but we had no choice as we bring our dog and you are then automatically put on one of these two fields.

The walks down by the river are lovely as well. The pool is great for the kids, but if they heated it this would be a vast improvement.

Stayed here twice once quite time second August bank holiday.

During quieter times this site is ok for short breaks.

Staff friendly enough but at busy times they ram many people in. On arrival got told normal stuff legal distance between awnings etc. By the time everyone had arrived there was tents everywhere not a bit of ground was left in some areas.

This led to facilities not coping, 1 washing up sink on the whole park.

A welcoming well maintained & tidy site, during our stay it wasn't too busy but I would expect during peak times it will get very crowded as the pitches are quite close together & there is only 2 washing up sinks & 8 showers (4 mens & 4 womens).

Check the location of your pitch when booking as the numbered meadows back onto the A14 which is very noisy all night so don't expect a totally peaceful nights sleep.

Reading Orwell's website has an endless list of rule & regulations, but don't be dissuaded as its actually a very friendly site, they only seemed to be fussed about pitching in exactly the right position according to the mark's & arrows on your pitch.

The children's play area is great and if you can brave the cold or have antifreeze in your veins the pool would be brilliant.

Site is large and very busy, however the staff were very helpful and pleasant, not impressed with original pitch as it was very uneven, so not good for a motorhome, another pitch was found which was ideal. Also there were only two washing up sinks! So queues at peak times. The chemical waste room was not nice, quite smelly and floor was very wet, which was rather unpleasant!

We visited over the May bank Holiday and into the kids half term break. The site was very busy until Monday but was much calmer after that.

Showers where cold at busy time and we did have to queue, but Tues onwards all fine.

We booked with friends and the site was very helpful putting us all together.

The kids with us ranged from 5 - 14, all made friends and found stuff to keep themselves busy. Including a cricket match.

This was not our first visit. All bank holidays are manic. But a nice site outside of these times. We're planning to go bank again in the summer.

Stayed here over May bank holiday at the start of half term, which probably clouds my review somewhat, as to be honest, we didn't really enjoy it.

They had really packed people in, but seeing as we had secured the last available tent pitch in the whole of the Suffolk coastal area, we couldn't really complain, but we were surrounded on all sides.

The site was packed - there must have been hundreds of people on site, mostly with kids. If you have kids I imagine it will be a great place to come as there is lots for them to do and they will definitely make new friends! But it's not much fun as a couple there for a relaxing break!

There were only 5 showers in the ladies' block, but I tended to shower at 630am when our dog woke us up, to try and avoid any queues. The loos were kept as clean as they could be with so many people on site.

There is lots to do in the area, but most families seemed to stay on site, which seems a shame when you consider what's around. There is the beautiful Orwell Country Park walks just outside the site and the long distance Stour and Orwell Path. Jimmy's Farm is just down the road and is a great day out for kids (you can stroke lambs and see baby piglets!) and for picking up nice sausages etc. There is a permanent 'farmers market' (sort of supermarket) selling lovely local food near Jimmy's Farm too, which has a better selection (veg, beers, condiments, breads, meats, fish etc - mostly locally sourced).

Further afield there is Woodbridge, Orford Aldeburgh, Thorpeness and Southwold, all within half an hour's drive and well worth an explore, and the spooky expanses of Rendlesham Forest and surrounding heathland. If you like 'spooky' then Orford Ness is well worth a trip. Shingle Street is one of the most deserted beaches you can find and has some lovely walks (but no swimming due to currents).

Great ship spotting to be had at Shotley and lovely bike rides on the Shotley Peninsula (you can also hire bikes and do a nice ride around Alton Water nearby).

So it's quite a good site to base yourself at to explore, but the road noise at night might get to some people.

We stayed there for the final 2 days of August and the weather was kind and even a bit sunny, but don't let that fool you into thinking the outside pool is as inviting as it looks!

My own fault, missus made me pack my shorts to splash with the kids, uncannily she forgot to pack hers. Soo.Soo.Cold, the kids splash pool fine, the big pool freezing, but that's my own stupid fault. The pool itself was nice and clean, surrounded by a fence for safety of little ones.

The site also has a club house with a bar, pool table, sky sports, which we didn't use but looked good enough.

The pitches were fine, not too close together. The toilets clean and stalls plentiful which is always nice.

Plenty of recycling areas too, which was good to see.

Being right next to the River Orwell (estuary), there is a really good nature reserve / walk on the bank, which the kids loved and so did the dog, where he could go off lead. That was really good to just walk a few minutes off site and get to such a nice place.

The play area on site was also really good and our 2 boys spent ages on there.

A 5 minute drive takes you to a retail park where there is a Pizza hut and Macdonalds, Brewers Fayre, for those non-bbq evenings.

Onsite shop was sparse, but a supermarket not far away anyway.

The location is really good, we might be tempted back in the height of summer. Only provision would be that we weren't pitched opposite the front of the clubhouse. It didn't emit any noise occupant-wise, but the air-con / refrigeration unit makes a heck of a noise, it was actually more annoying at night than the 18 wheelers running past on the A12 at a Colchester site.

That said, we could see the play area really well, so, rough with the smooth, you'll never have it all. I would still go back, just pitch the same side of the clubhouse as the pool.

Just back from a nice weekend but sadly our car broke down so we had to return a night early.

This site is extremely well presented and maintained. Staff really helpful and as they are constantly doing things around the site all day like picking up litter or mowing, they are always around to ask for help. The toilets were spotless & cleaned every day. Pitches lovely.

There are 4 showers. I only managed one shower in 3 days as the queues were long. There are about 6 basins to clean teeth, 6 toilets and 1 washing up sink. All spotless but not enough for the site really.

We thought we were being smart by being next to the play area which was fab for our 4 year old but no good for our 18 month old. It's not fenced in and I had to keep running after them to make sure they were not kicked by people on the big swings. We would have been better off in one of the meadows methinks.

The noise from the motorway didn't worry us at all until 11pm when everything on site went quiet and then it became very obvious that the motorway was there.

The pub is only open from 7pm as is the restaurant. Drinks on the expensive side and I was shocked to be charged 65p for some soda in my spritzer which made it an expensive £4.40!

This bit of my review is more about the area than the actual site. There is not a great deal to do. Nearest pub is a hike and on an industrial estate. It rained like mad so we took the kids to Kids Kingdon / Play space and it was brilliant. Only 10 minutes in the car and a really great place for when it's raining with little ones.

I can't fault the presentation of the site to be honest. I wouldn't go back though because of lack of things to do in the immediate area and not much for under 5's.

This was a lovely site, and our first time as campers. Everything was clean including the shower blocks, could not fault this campsite, and it is not far from Felixstowe and Ipswich, the only thing is beware of the sat nav, it will take you in the wrong direction
