I had a decent break from work & had already booked my time here in advance with a friend & was so glad when it arrived.
My other plan's for the break had gone down the pan & I had begun to fear this would follow suit, thankfully it didn't.
Was glad to arrive, setting up even the most mundane thing's seemed like heaven at times to get myself engrossed in this was really nice, the whole outdoor experience regardless of any weather changes.
To get away from the ' norm ' submerse myself in the bubble that it was, taking only my phone as technology, the bar tv in evening's everything else left behind was heaven. We had some friendly neighbour's who took pity on occasion's with us returning the favour.
The facilities were pretty good for what the place is. It's not a supermarket so don't expect to find everything you're after as you probably won't get it, but its a great site with friendly, welcoming & hospitable staff & fellow site user's while the site is important it's the people who make it as well.
Try it yourself I can't really see why you would be disappointed.

Stayed here for a weekend and took my two young grandchildren with me, The Site was very good with good facilities. BUT the site has Rules but dose nothing to enforce them, First there is NO playing football with a Leather football but there were two groups of lads playing with them and on several occasions cars and vans were hit by them. Secondly Signs around the pool state there is No jumping or Dive bombing into the Pool, While a member of staff was trying to fish out some young child's toilet mess Some Older lads were doing just that and at no time did the staff member (or owner) ask them to stop. Thirdly all loud music ect should stop at 11pm But there was a party going on a few vans away where I was Until 2 o'clock in the morning with cars being driven about also, And again nothing was Done.
I do believe the owners live on site and surely would have heard the noise. AS I said it Could be a great Site if run properly, I did email the owners and suggested that it might be a good idea to have a night warden on site they did reply that they were looking into the idea for next year so as I have not been back since this year I don't know whether they have or Not.

Stayed here in May as it was fairly local and we wanted to try our new tourer out. Couldn't get through on the phone the week before hand and did leave a message but no one called me back.
Arrived on site Saturday morning 11am and found the owner who told us to go to any pitch we wanted and then come back an pay. We found a nice spot and set up.
The site was very nice, good facilities, playground for the kids, outdoor swimming pool (only open June onwards), bar, restaurant etc.
Great for doing the Orwell trail nature walk. The kids loved this through the woods and along the banks of the orwell.
Will be going back in August to get use of the pool.

Stayed 3 nights this July.
The site is kept well - grass mown, no litter etc, looks good when you arrive.
The toilet and shower facilities were a bit dated, but clean enough (although we didn't use the showers, as used our own). It wasn't very busy when we were there, and I think if the site was full, then the toilet facilities would be stretched. Be careful, the floor does get very slippery when wet (from cleaning, or people coming in from the pool).
It wasn't a particularly warm couple of days so the pool was cold, but my daughter assures me it was OK once you got used to it(!)
We didn't use the restaurant so can't comment on that.
The play area was fine for little ones. It was a bit limited for slightly older children (my 10 year old seemed a bit old for it). That said, it was swamped by teenagers in the evening, so younger children didn't get a look in anyway.
Handy, central location, good for walks, beaches and town. There was some road noise from A12, but didn't personally bother us.
We would stay again, although might restrict it to less busy times, if the site got very full (and noisy) in peak season.

Friendly staff and owners greeted us on arrival and directed us to meadow 4. I'd not realised that just beyond the tall bank at the bottom of the meadow (where we camped) runs the A14.
We found the traffic noise to be intrusive during both the day and night, finding it difficult to hear our quieter children talking at times. Only the overnight heavy rain shower on our tent drowned out the sound of the continual traffic.
Beyond that, the rest of the site was wonderful. The grass was kept short, the plots clearly marked, the shower / toilet block was kept clean and the showers warm.
There was however only one sink for washing up, with a sign above the other reserving it for hand washing only (I didn't spot that until half way through drying up). Although we found this no problem it could get busy in the summer hols.
The swimming pool area was very clean, but it was too cold (unheated) after the overnight rain for me. We did't use the restaurant, but it looked well kept too. Being on the doorstep of the Orwell Country Park was a definite plus too, offering tranquil woodland and riverside walks.
So many points are positive about this site, the traffic noise is such a shame. If our group of friends decided to go to Orwell Meadows again, we would go with them. If the choice was ours, we'd find somewhere else.

We have a Folding Camper, and were pitched near the top of Meadow 3.
The site is easy to find, and very close to the A14, which was a mixed blessing, as it is responsible for the only criticism of the site that I could find, ie. road noise, especially at night. However, I didn't really notice it during the day (being a townie).
The pitch sizes were good, ample room for awning & car (although we didn't pitch our awning, as we were only staying two nights).
No pitches in the centre of this meadow, so plenty of room for children to play and cycle etc.
Only one water point at the bottom of the meadow, but that would be no more that 150 yards away even if you were right at the top of the meadow.
The toilet block was very nice, and centrally located, with washing up area, toilets, showers, sinks and an elsan point. The block was almost empty whenever I used it, and showers were a lovely temperature, all the time, whenever I used them.
Some reviews reckon they could do with more toilets etc, and that may be the case in the summer holidays, but as at least half the site is for static caravans, with no requirement to use the block, I felt the facilities were very good.
Restaurant was very nice, food was good, and neither food or drinks were expensive. Restaurant let you use debit cards for free.
Site shop was very small, but also very well stoked, however, this was a bit pricey, as is usual for site shops.
The outside pool looked nice, but was too cold for me, and my six year old Son also refused, however, it had been raining so want did we expect.
The children's play area was small, but very nice and well kept, also right next to the beer garden, very well planned!
Overall very nice site, walks from the site to the orwell estuary were lovely, and I would definitely visit again.

We stayed at this site over the Royal Wedding Bank Holidays. The weather was great, although a bit windy, however it made for a very enjoyable stay.
Entertainment was provided in the bar which was enjoyable and not too much. It did not go on to late.
The site was busy and the facilities were adequate, I did not have to queue for a shower and they were nice and warm.
The site is ideal for younger children, but not a lot for teenagers.
Lovely walks at the Orwell Estuary, very pretty.
There is road noise.
I would return.

We have been to this site a few times and are due back again in the near future. Great site for us as local, good amenities, only real bugbear is the toilets/showers - the floor gets so wet it becomes like an ice rink very very slippy and dangerous especially for little people. Would like to see something done to avoid a possible nasty accident happening.
Reception isn't always open at 12 on a Saturday so you may have a wait, best check to see what pitch you are on and go and bed in and register later.
Pool area has been updated and looks great with new tiled area where grass used to be and new safety fencing around it, although not open when we were there as too early in season.
Can be a little packed over bank holiday weekends and peak time and a little hap hazard with the pitching of tents- seem to be everywhere! great site for little people, although not an awful lot for teens.
Plenty to do off site as I said we use it as it is convenient for us and is overall good. (except for the floors in the showers and toilet areas!)

The Campsite is very clean and not overcrowded which is a MUST as far as we are concerned. There are excellent facilities such as 2 outdoor pools (doesn't open until 2nd bank holiday in May), children's play area, clubhouse/bar with entertainment, showers, dishwashing area, laundry room and Reception area with small shop.
Locally there are shops, supermarket, pub, McDonalds and other take away restaurants which can be accessed by either a 5 minute drive or 25 min walk.
There is also a beach not so far away and a wooded area to have a picnic or take your dog for a walk.
The only bit of criticism I could give if any would be that the bar isnt open every night but then we didn't need it anyway as the children all play together and we take things to amuse ourselves anyway.
This is our 3rd year of returning to Orwell Meadows, we are a family of 3 and our 9 year old loves it, he has met some lovely friends who also return on a yearly basis.

We stayed here for our first camping holiday. We found the site to be clean and tidy. We had some rather noisy campers opposite but they left the next day. There wasn`t a lot to do on the site the kids wanted to come home early. You could also hear road noise from the A14.
