Our stay was during Easter in the snow, thankfully we had electric but it was still freezing. The site was noisy at night being so close the road. There is some shops a few a minutes drive away for provisions etc.
The site was clean and tidy and seemed to be well cared for. We went to the bar briefly but it was so quiet we did not stay.
Toilet block was spotless and the showers nice and warm. The staff were good humoured even in the bad weather. We did cut our stay short as it was just so cold and went and stayed with relatives who live close by.

We returned today from Orwell Meadows having enjoyed a wonderful break at this excellent, well-maintained site. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the use of the pool everyday: it was cold but the weather was hot so this was most welcome! The children had a fantastic time: the site is safe enough for them to enjoy some freedom. Because the play area is next to the terrace of the clubhouse it is also easy to supervise them in the evening whilst enjoying a grown-up drink! The toilets and entire site were spotless and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. There is quite a bit of noise from the road, but it didn't really bother us. A good all-round family site. We will definitely return, hopefully with friends, as this would make an excellent meeting place for groups.

We spent five days here and ours was the only touring caravan! There are a considerable number of seasonal park homes and quite a few rather old battered caravans presumably on very long term storage. Despite the site being officially open, all the facilities, including shop, were shut, which was annoying because we still paid the full rate and had not been told that the facilities would not be open. The toilet and shower blocks were cold and smelt 'drainy'. The road noise was markedly intrusive at night.
We were told that the site is mainly used by local people. Perhaps it is better at other times of the year. The staff were friendly but we have no desire to return.

Just got home from an overnighter on this site and feel pretty dissapointed with the facilities. I know this is just pre-season but the site is open. Only one shower working and no water at all in the pan wash area. I'm sure they will be working next weekend but why not now.
The site is well laid out and level with good access all round. Never tried the club as it was raining like mad but it looks pretty good. May return one day but plenty of others to try first.

Have just spent the first week of the school holidays here. A very well-kept site. The shower block was always spotless, as was the pool area. The touring pitches are mostly set around large meadows, with plenty of room in the middle for children to play safely. There is a small shop and a bar/restaurant, with a lovely terrace outside. There is quite a bit of road noise from the nearby A14, but our biggest surprise was the presence of a motorway maintenance crew, staying in a motley assortment of caravans in the top meadow near the campsite entrance - judging by the number and size of the gas bottles by their vans, they will be there for some time! Also, on our meadow, there were a couple of guys in a tent with a commercial van who were obviously going out to work every day. Not what we expected on a site which aims itself at the family market.

This was the destination of our maiden voyage in our caravan. Not too far from home on a first time tow! The reception staff were friendly and helpful and we were given a small map of the site with directions to where we were to pitch. The site is broken into separate meadows - each shielded by a high bank of grass, bushes and shrubs. This is in an attempt to block sound from the nearby A14. Each meadow is very well kept, grass kept short and the area tidy and there are water taps in each. The shower block is bright and clean and gave out nice hot water for showers. There is an outdoor pool, which by all accounts was very cold, but was nevertheless enjoyed by our daughter and others using it. There is a clubhouse/bar which was comfortable and had a 70's singing duo on which was enjoyable. We didn't eat in the restaurant, so cant comment on the food. The River Orwell is nearby and there are nice walks along it, a short distance from the site. Yes, I would recommend this site, particularly to those with small children as it seems to be very safe with lots of space for them to run around and play.

Very clean site with friendly and helpful staff. The toilet and shower block are always clean with lovely hot water. The younger children enjoyed the park and field aswell as the sweet shop while the older children enjoyed the snooker table. The sites pool was not open on a few occasions due to weather or chemicals in the water. We have been there many times and would definatly recommend this site.

We went to this site the 1st weekend in September 2006. Price came to more that web site told us, had to go to 3 different pitches as all had people still on when told that was our pitch. Finally in Meadow 3. Nice size pitch with plenty of space for kids to play in middle of tented area. Children were in the pool, but, was told it was very cold! we never took the chance to find out ha ha. Only 2 washing up sinks, so be prepared to queue to wash your dishes. Showers (only 4) and toilets were disgusting on the Friday evening, dirty water and mop to clean floor after you had showered, no soap in toilet area, several complaints made next morning and the Saturday evening was 10 times better. The forest walks was fantastic and check tide times for the Orwell river, went there to go crabbing with kids and tide was out in the middle of the day. The best thing about the site was the warm french stick you can order for the next morning, goes down a real treat with you sausages and bacon?! No rules it would appear for noise control, karaoke still going on at 1.30am on both the nights we stayed. Traffic can be heard from the main road so take some cotton wool balls that and the singing you may get a bit of sleep!

Nice, pretty site. But had to put tent up facing a certain way. This meant our door faced into the wind and rain. Other tents were struggling too because of the way they had to face. The pool was not open at all during the weekend, all we wanted to do was test the temperature of the water. Do be careful of your possessions. Gang of youths were reported to have stolen 2 bikes padlocked to a tree. They had come prepared with a crowbar and would have taken more if they hadn't woken the owners of the bikes. But overall well managed site with nice facilities.

We spent our first ever 5 nights camping at Orwell Meadows and returned home feeling very positive. Lovely site with fantastic facilities, and close enough to local amenities for essential shopping! Pool was cold to start with, but once in the water there was no stopping my 2 year old! Shame the bar has season opening times as we missed out for our first 3 nights, and also the 11pm no noise rule was not adhered to. (Live music in the bar til nearly midnight!) A great site though, and have re-booked for 4th august for long weekend!
