We have had two very different weekends here. The first weekend there were less people on site and we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. The facilities were clean and hot water abound. The second time two weeks later a busier weekend and with only one amenity block it became clear it was unable to cope with demand and we dread to think what bank holiday weekend may be like. That aside the site is well maintained and the bar which opens mainly weekends was pleasant and the food looked good. The swimming pool was busy but too cold for me. It is not manned so despite the rules there were quite a lot of kids doing their own thing. Living so close we would use it again but not at peak times.

This large site is set out on several separate smaller fields around a central block of showers, toilets, washing-up sink and laundry room. There is also a reception block which contains a small shop, a bar which serves food and family room. There are two pools, one deep one and a smaller paddling pool.
We stayed for an August weekend when the site appeared to be nearly full. Despite it being so busy, the showers and toilets were kept clean and I never had to queue to use either. The pools are unheated but very clean and in good condition. The owners are friendly and helpful, and always seem to be hard at work. (Someone had left a lot of dog poo near the toilet block early one morning (nice!) and it was cleared away almost immediately).
Being a busy site, there is some noise at night. We were right next to the bar area, so other fields may be quieter. You can also hear the traffic.
Being able to order a paper and a fresh stick of French bread every morning was a real luxury! The children had a great time using the pool and swings, and we all enjoyed walking in the Orwell Country Park which is just next door.
The only drawback was the fact that the BBC were filming for 'Who Rules the Roost' while we were there and I was terrified of accidently getting in shot!

What a great campsite! The staff are friendly, and the facilities are clean. The whole campsite was in extremely good condition and well maintained.
My friends and I had a great weekend. We enjoyed the campsite so much we didn’t leave all weekend except to go to the local supermarket and extended our stay by another afternoon.
The evening entertainment was interesting having never played bingo before. Everyone made us feelwelcome at the club house the pool table was only 50p and the drinks reasonable.
The swimming pool was freezing but when the outside temp. Is 32 degrees you don’t care and just jump right in.
Go and stay at Orwell Meadows its a great campsite with great surroundings and great people.

September 2004 I bought my first tent two years ago and I have been to this site 5 times since then. It is great. The pool is absolutely freezing but the staff, clubhouse and location make up for it. I do not have kids and the individual meadows are a fantastic touch. lots of space and very safe. See you in August!

August 2003 Delightful! The facilities were clean and the reception/bar staff were very friendly and helpful. A pleasant and relaxing site, safe for children, good pool, though a little cold and plenty of room for the kids to run around and play! My only criticism is the noise from the road at the back of the site, however, an extra beer at the bar helps. There are quieter pitches nearer the pool if noise is a problem for you! We will definitely visit again!

April/May 2003 Hello everyone! We've just had a brilliant week at Orwell Meadows. Not, admittedly, in a tent but in a 'budget' static 'van...our first time. The site is great; very attractive the way it's set out in meadows with not too many units in each and so avoids the serried ranks look of so many places. David & Sally and all the staff were really welcoming; friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a superb value meal in the Bar/Restaurant followed by an hysterical evening in the bar on the Saturday of our arrival!!!! Hic! Our Cairn terrier Paddy loved chasing all the rabbits which appear all over the site and are very cute. All in all a delightful site, the walks through the adjacent Orwell Country Park were lovely and it's not far to all the amenities of Ipswich. We liked it so much we're looking to buy a mobile home there!!! Stay there and enjoy.

july 2002 A very friendly site with everything you need. Swimming pool though was absolutely freezing, but my daughter did'nt seem to mind. Nice fresh frenchstick daily and newspapers, could maybe do with some more rubbish bins and a larger play area for the kids. We have been a couple of times and would return again.

1st June 2002 A very clean and tidy campsite with a friendly welcoming atmosphere. However, very close to the A14 dual-carrageway so only for heavy sleepers or inner city dwellers.
