As others have said this is a sloping site. However it levels towards the bottom of the field, so we parked up with out need for chocks. Great views across the meadows towards Masham.
Many of the units on site looked semi permanent - touring caravans but with patios etc set up around them.
The toilet block is adequate but tired looking, and there were issues with a broken down ladies loo for part of a busy sunny weekend. Another quibble - nowhere to hang towels etc when having a wash. A couple of hooks near the wash basins would help without much effort needed.
Dogs are welcome on site but not in the pub, which is in all honesty more of an eating than drinking place. Vouchers for a discount on meals were given with the booking.
The site has on its own website a couple of downloadable maps for local walks. The one we tried became an impassible bog within a hundred yards of the road! It hasn't been the driest year so far, but this path looked as the the mud was a regular occurrence.
Close enough to walk ( on a different route!) into Masham where there are plenty of pubs, cafés etc.

In a word. Rubbish!
For £22 you would expect that the toilets would work, be attached to floor and be lit during darkness hours. Out of the two male showers only one of them had a light that 'operated'. It flickered so much it set off a migraine. This could have been dangerous for anyone suffering from epilepsy.
It is a good site wasted due to neglect.
The pub is pleasant serving good food and beer.
If the place gets a little makeover and update during the winter months it could be fantastic!

Site sloping but easy to level up if you have chocs with you. Made welcome upon arrival and had choice of pitches. Toilet block clean and functional. Showers free.
We picked this site because of the pub on site but dogs are not allowed in which is the only reason we wouldn't use the site again. Lovely village and good walking area.
Restaurant food excellent, a little pricey but no different to other pubs we visited.

Initially the site looked good and we were put on a decent pitch by a friendly warden. Our pitch was fully serviced with water supply.
Then we found the electric (10amp supply) kept tripping and from then on it descended into a total disaster.
The rubbish disposal area was overflowing and was a health hazard. The toilets/showers were not the most hygienic I used my onboard sevices. Tents were crammed in to overflowing, loud music until 2 in the morning, un-supervised children causing havoc.
All this for £26 per night, I won't be back. Bye Bye Black Swan.

My family and parents visited the Black Swan last weekend, (mid August) initially looked great, pub on-site good menu and £5 voucher. We were put in the middle of the camping field, right next to the toilet blocks, the electric cable trailing round the caravan.
Firstly the toilet block looked like something from the 1970's and certainly not cleaned, empty soap dispensers, spiders and grass everywhere. Site office had no provisions, ie milk or bread. There was half dead rabbit running round the site.
The owners dog let to running free and 'foul' everywhere (right outside my awning) yet my dog had to be tied up, attitude and being watched was totally unacceptable. No dog walks, surrounded by sheep, the pub closed in afternoon, 3/4 miles to the village and no taxi's, certainly won't be going back.

This was my first camping experience with my children and was booked on the Thursday lunch time for a stay on Thursday and Friday nights. I booked this site after trying a couple of others in the area, at very short notice, with no luck and after reading the reviews following paying for our visit I was a bit dubious as to what we would discover upon arrival.
I was, however, pleasantly surprised. This site is set in a pretty village within easy distance of plenty of tourist attractions. We arrived, pulled into the car park and looked for reception, and not seeing a sign I entered the bar.
I was greeted by the friendly receptionist / barmaid who told me that I could pitch my tent in the centre area or at the side of the horse-shoe shaped site, pretty much anywhere I wanted.
We (myself and my 3 boys aged 13, 9 and 6) set off down the gravel horseshoe road and picked a spot near the bottom, pitched our tent and relaxed in the sunshine. Within minutes the boys had made friends with some other children, who had been there almost a week, and were off exploring.
One of the bad points on the other reviews was the bathrooms. Yes they are not perfect, sparklingly clean bathrooms that we have at home, but we're not at home, we are in the outdoors, with grass, insects and plenty of people using these bathrooms and probably only one cleaner!
Also the water pressure in the loos leaves a lot to be desired (1 flush and it seems that all the other loos are impaired, which means you tend to have to flush the toilets upon arrival, and then are unable to flush after you have relieved yourself), but despite this I don't think they deserved the reviews they had received, and they were definitely cleaned, as cleaning was in progress on one of my visits at around 9am.
In the evening we ate in the Black Swan restaurant, and the food was delicious, the barmaid/waitress/receptionist was again very friendly, gave me our 2 £5 food vouchers. When asked she said they could make most things on the menu as a kids meal (rather than having the usual nuggets / burger / sausage kids menu) which made a refreshing change.
We received good service, and at the end of the evening I was reminded to use the vouchers, so the 4 of us ate a main course each, shared 2 deserts and purchased one drink for £33, which I thought was not too expensive.
The only downside of our 2 night stay occurred on the Friday night, which was very busy with a few large groups of varying ages. One of the groups - a younger group - pitched themselves at the very bottom of the site, and were thoroughly enjoying themselves, with plenty of booze, music and revelry occurring. But they were at the bottom out of everyone's way.
The other large group, in the centre, were sat quietly chatting enjoying their evening, until they were approached and rather loudly told they must immediately put out the small fire they had lit in a tray, as they had not paid enough to stay and kill the grass! I was quite shocked at this outburst and felt that it could have been dealt with in a much better way without being so rude to customers, and in full view and listening distance to many other visitors to the site.
All in all, the facilities were adequate for a short stay. I couldn't imagine spending longer than a couple of days there with the children, as once you've visited the sights you wanted to see or completed the walks you wanted,
There is nothing on site to encourage you to spend time there, and the village is very small, I didn't notice any shops, pubs, or attractions within the village, so I felt that after a couple of days the children would have been difficult to occupy if we had wanted a cheap 'stay-at-home' day.
For a short break I would definitely stay at the Black Swan, Fearby again, the location is very pretty, the facilities are basic but adequate as a base for activity days, I personally received very good customer service from all members of staff I encountered, and my children enjoyed the short periods of time (a few hours each evening) we spent on site and were able to play, run around and explore without upsetting anyone.
I felt the price was comparable with other sites, but not having stayed anywhere else I can't really comment much on the value for money, but I was happy to pay the amount I did for my visit.

I have been with a group many times to this site but this time found the toilets were dirty, some gents toilets were wobbly according to my husband, and the bins were all full.
The meals in the pub seem a little pricey so went to Kings Head in masham instead.
The countryside and Druids Temple is well worth a visit
But the facilities are poor for the cost of the pitch compared to other sites, so don't think I will return.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this camp site. We were initially a little wary of booking due to the nature of previous reviews. We need not have worried. This is a superb friendly site with an equally superb bar and restaurant.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The site is on a slope and levelling up the caravan was a little tricky but soon sorted. The surrounding view made it well worth the effort.
The shower/toilet block was a little small and if the site had been full it might have been an issue.
All in all a great place to stay with loads of Dales family attractions a short drive away. We will be going back!

What a wonderful setting, superb views over the Yorkshire countryside. This Park could be one of the best but sadly the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail lets it down.
It was very quiet when we visited, obviously half of the pitches are let on a seasonal basis and there appears there is no control on how these are used as there were various types of patios/paved areas and grass growing up around the caravan awnings.
The toilet/shower facilities suffered a lack of in depth cleaning. The head on the mop supplied for mopping out the shower should have been thrown away in 2011.
The waste bin was not emptied at all over the three days we were there. If you think the facilities on the Park are poor I have to admit the Gents in the Pub has to be the dirtiest I have been in for quite some time.
To sum up if you are happy to pay the pitch price and use your own facilities you will enjoy this Park.

This is a great location. Quiet rural village in the Dales, great views, excellent retaurant and typical pub. We paid 20 Pounds for Sat night, inclu hook up etc. The pitches were fine for we Motorhomers but may not be soo appropriate for caravans.
There is a massive, I doubt you will find a more numerous one, collection of chamber pots hanging from the bar roof beams. I understand the chef would rather they be re-homed but whilst still hanging there, well worth a photo!
Toilets were shut due to frost risk.
Jewel in the crown is the proximity to the Druids Temple. Wow!
