This was a nice enough site with a good amount of space allocated for your pitch and friendly staff. Probably better for families than those wanting to get away from it all. The pub on site served standard pub food at a reasonable price, although it's worth a trip into Masham for something a bit more exciting.

August 2005 A friendly, well run family site in beautiful surroundings. John and his daughter Amanda who run the site and pub made sure my stay couldn't have been better. Good toilet, shower and dishwashing facilities which as they are in the middle of the site are easily accessible for all, and most importantly friendly people who make you feel welcome. Various local attractions all easily reached so no excuses for being bored. Great food served in the restaurant or bar and good beer at reasonable prices to wash it down with. Couldn't ask for more from a holiday park and will definitely be going back!

September 2003 The majority of the site is on a very steep slope which makes things a little tricky for novice caravanners like me. The one toilet block could have been cleaner and warmer, but I assumed that it was because it was end of season and ready to be closed for winter. The showers take 20p coins and I would say you need at least 40p for a nice shower without having to rush. They do allow dogs on site, but we were told not to leave them in the caravan under any circumstances.

April 2004 Our first trip with the caravan this year was to The Black Swan holiday Park for the UK Camp Site Easter Meet. The site has its own pub and restaurant and is set in the village of Fearby near Masham. The site is family run and is very friendly. As one would expect it was busy as it was Easter but there was plenty of room and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The views from the site across the Vale of York are beautiful and there are plenty of walks that take you through some picturesque landscapes. A must do is a visit to the Black Sheep Brewery, here you can take in the guided tour following the history of this lovely brewery, finishing up with a sample of this fine Ale!
Also worth visiting is the Masham Sausages between the brewery and Town square in Masham, some of the best sausages I have ever tasted and a grand selection of flavours. Excellent for the BBQ. There are many attractions that are worthy of a day trip very local to the Site. These include the Ripon Cathedral, Bolton Abbey, Lightwater Valley Adventure Park, the Market Towns of Hawes, Richmond, and Leyburn. Other things to do within a 10 mile area of The Black Swan Holiday Park include fishing, swimming, horse riding, golf, and many shopping areas in towns and cities within easy reach.
All in all this was a fantastic start to our 2004 caravanning season. We enjoyed being at the Black Swan Holiday Park so much that we have booked up for another holiday there this year.

may 2004 The views alone make this site worth a visit, clean, well looked after and friendly. We stayed for two nights over the Bank holiday weekend, the available cooked breakfast was a welcome change. The pub was welcoming, the real ale great, set in idylic surroundings, even the barmaids were pretty. Recommend this site,

Summer 2003 A very last minute trip to Masham, so pleased to get a space for our 2 man tent. It rained all weekend and the "split screen camper van" meet was on. Being half way up the hill meant that drainage was not a problem. The pub on site was a welcome break (with central heating and double glazing) after setting up in the rain. Visited the Black Sheep brewery the next day - which was fun, and the food was good. Would definately visit again.

April 6th 2004 Well what a friendly pleasant site, facilities were fine, we had a bit of a power cut but that was half the village and wasn't a site problem. The pub was great, (excellent pint of black sheep, good grub and the owners couldn't have been more helpful, I was a first timer with a caravan and he took me into my spot with no probs. Cant wait to go back there, and a great meet venue!!!! And great views all around the countryside.

Masham Meet, Easter 2004 We’ve just spent a ‘relaxing’ 3 days at this site with UKCS for the Northern Meet at Easter. The site is set on sloping ground to the rear of The Black Swan Inn in Fearby. You will need chocks with you, unless you’re lucky enough to be allocated one of the pitches that have had a hole for the wheel dug (if you’re in a caravan, that is!). The site is in a very pleasant location, overlooking excellent valley scenery, and among some lovely walking country. So don’t forget your boots!
The owner, John, and his son Sean, who runs the place couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful! It’s true that there was some outage on the electricity at times. I think this was actually down to National Grid rather than the site itself, as half the village, including the pub was cut off for a while too. Still, those lucky enough to be running from the generator were ok!
The one toilet block, set in the middle of the site was clean, and there was plenty of hot water for washing with. Showers take 20p coins, and seemed to be adequate. There is quite a walk up the hill to the CDP though, so you’ll need a trolley of sorts! The Staff in the pub were very friendly and prices were reasonable too. The pub serves meals either in the restaurant, or in the bar, there’s a fine selection of hand-pulled ales from the nearby Black Sheep Brewery in Masham, which is well worth a trip to the visitor centre! The head guide there, Jim had us in hysterics at times on the brewery tour! Masham itself is a very typical dales town, sleepy, almost stuck in time. Nice to wander around, finding the little shops and tearooms tucked away down alleyways. There are a few pubs around that serve bar meals, and again, either Black Sheep or Theakstons ales. Spoilt for choice really! Ripon isn’t that far away, set right in the heart of ‘Herriot Country’, Thirsk and York are within driving distance too.
All in all, I think this site has lots to offer. It may be that as a group, we all just had a fantastic time, and that puts a rosy glow on things, but I’d definitely go back, and intend to in November, if not before, for the ‘Bonefire’ (Ask Sean about the spelling!) celebrations!

19/20 May 2003 I agree with most comments on this page, the site is half full of static caravans. We received a friendly greeting by owner and large but quiet dog. Facilities - clean with plenty of hot water, unfortunately that was only in the toilets as when we were there the washing up area was being repaired. As it poured down most of the time we were there - the site is obviously well drained! Would visit there again. But maybe not in the high season as it is only small and pitches seem very close together.
