We just spent a great week at this site with EHU.
The site is lovely and beautifully kept. Toilet facilities are nothing lavish but perfectly adequate and always very clean. My gripe was the lack of shower pressure, if all 3 showers were in use then you had no hope of washing your hair. One morning I was stranded with a headful of shampoo and had to wait for the other 2 showers to finish before the water returned to my cubicle for me to finish! This seems to have been an on going issue for some time so I hope they do something about it.
The site is well laid out with plenty of space between tents and caravans. This is a bonus although our fellow campers seemed to think it meant they could put up tennis nets, badminton nets etc. This is not really ideal when you are camping with a new car (as we were ) and your neighbours decide to play football, followed by frisbee followed by French cricket - none of which was very accurate! On such a big site, it would have been feasible to dedicate a ball games area to avoid damage to cars and caravans and keep the peace! Having said that - your fellow campers are not the responsibility of the campsite owners who were really helpful and friendly at all times.

We picked this site based on a combination of the facilities, reviews and location. We wanted to avoid a massive “holiday camp” style setup with swimming pools etc, and this was one of the few sites we could find which also had a pub and village shop in walking distance. We were fortunate enough to time our weekend break outside of school holidays and festivals and as a result were one of only 6 units on the whole site!
The site comprises approx 16 acres spread over three grassed fields, which are open, slightly sloping with hedgerows/trees providing shelter around the edges, plus views across Culver/Brading Downs. Small fenced children's play area. Approx 40 electric hook-ups and ample non electric pitches (pitch where you want and arrive/leave when you want!).
Modern toilet/shower block with free hot water plus two Portaloo style family bathrooms – everything spotlessly clean, although not sure if there would be enough facilities if the site was full! Covered (outside) pot washing area. Laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board plus ample free electric points for hairdryers/straightening irons. Vending machine. Summerhouse style room with seating, book swap and ample phone/laptop charging points (all covered by CCTV). Freezer pack service at reception. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful owners.
Nearest village is St Helens 0. 7 miles walk uphill via a footpath (very short section on-road). A recently constructed footpath behind the hedge on the opposite site of the road makes the walk safer for families – this wasn’t visible on Google Earth but the owners pointed this out to us on arrival. St Helens has a beach, pub, two newsagents and handful of restaurants whilst Bembridge approx 1. 5-2 miles away has a few more pubs and facilities including a small mini-market and Butchers.
We drank and ate in The Vine in St Helens was a busy, friendly local pub, serving straightforward pub grub. We had a beer at the Crab & Lobster (Bembridge) which was very difficult to find, not particularly welcoming and drinks overpriced (didn’t eat here). We also liked the Pilot Boat Inn (Bembridge) – which had a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere!
Our main reason for visiting the IOW was to cycle the waymarked 70 mile “Round the Island” route, which is easy to access from the campsite as it runs through St Helens - very undulating with some epic climbs on the south coast and amazing scenery. For family cycling, the well surfaced disused (and level) railway line goes from nearby Sandown to Cowes. We visited Alum Bay, The Needles and Old Battery – nice walk along the headland but the cable car at Alum Bay seems to be permanently out of order and everything closed early!
All in all, a great campsite and great location – would definitely recommend this campsite to friends.

Had a great time at this site. The owner was very helpful. The site is well-run and kept very clean. I like the informality of the tent field.
It is in a good location, close to St Helens Duver and the beaches there. It is easy to get onto the road network to visit other parts of the Island. Large Tesco within 5 minutes drive.
The views towards Culver and Brading Downs are lovely. Waking up to buzzards calling in the morning was a novelty.
My only suggestion would be to update the showers. Although there was plenty of hot water the pressure in the shower blocks is rather low. I felt guilty at having to use a family room when I wanted to wash my hair.
We have booked to go back next year.

What a superb campsite - the best on the Isle of Wight by far.
This is a clean and spacious site and is a safe place for children. We were impressed with the clean showers and toilets.
The facilities are excellent and the site is perfect for families. The beach, shops, etc are just a short drive or walk away and the owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating.
We will definitely be returning - there is no substitute!

Just got back from 2 great weeks on this site. Cant praise it highly enough.
It is in a great location just outside St Helens, with fabulous views of the Culver and Brading Downs. Its a short drive (or long walk) to nice beaches at St Helens, and the rest of the East Wight is easily accessible.
The site is quiet, bar the local birdlife and the distant sound of the occasional train which is actually quite charming.
The main field is gently sloping and mostly open. We pitched along the back hedge to get extra wind protection which meant being a fair distance from the toilet block, but worked well for us. The top field looked flatter but was even further away.
Toilet block was kept very clean and was rarely busy. Good washing up sinks, laundry and room for charging up phones/cameras etc for those not on a hook up. Good dog walking field next door.
All in all a great spot for those who want a quiet holiday. Very reasonably priced too, per head, which is good for those of us who like to erect gazebos etc and not get stung for it.

Had a great time at this campsite, helped by the fantastic heatwave we had. This is the second time we have stayed here, beaches close by for the kids.
Would definitely recommend this site for both electric hook up and non hook up as we have done both !
Facilities good and like the family shower room a great bonus, no shortage of hot water.
Great for all ages of kids our range from 8 - 12.
The kids want to go back again.

We stayed at Carpenters Farm for a week over the period of the Isle of Wight Festival.
Anyone who watched the news will know that the weather was mixed at best during that time and our big tent was tested in the wind and rain, and so was the site.
That said, most of the site was well drained and the shower blocks were cleaned daily so didn't get too mucked up with all the mud.
The washing up areas, drying room and the nice addition of the phone charging / reading room was useful to dry out in the rain.
The site itself is about a 15 min walk along the road up into St Helen's where there is a decent pub and the bus stop to Newport and Ryde.
There's a large Tesco about 5 min drive away for all provisions.
We had a great time here and would probably return, however it was a bit of a distance to get to the festival (1hr on the bus) and the crows were a slightly unwelcome wake up call every morning!
Otherwise it is definitely worth a visit.

Although the site is called carpenters farm, this is not a working farm site, this is a separate camp site away from the farm. We stayed here in August 2011, a great site. A sloping field split into to parts with a smaller section at the front which is more level. Friendly staff, they have a small shop. Basic supplies, eggs bacon, sauces bread, ice block freezing/swap service. Toilets & showers were spotless, and we have seen them being checked as early as 6am & as late as 1030pm. Will stay there again, we had a wonderfully peaceful holiday, great value for money

This was the second time I have visited this site, last year it was just my daughter and myself this year we took my 2year old grandson for his first camping experience. We all had a wonderful time and will be returning in September for a long week end break.
The site is very peaceful, and you can have as much space as you want (although probably not the case if using electric hook up), the toilets and showers are always clean, although could do with adding a few more, four toilets for ladies means you sometimes have to queue especially at peak times, the push button on the showers is very annoying especially when washing hair, but hey it's camping and all adds to the fun.
The laundry facilities and washing up area are also very clean, it is very easy to dispose of rubbish in the black bags provided and the skip,
There has been a big improvement in the hot water since last year and the introduction of family showers is a brilliant idea, but could do with a few more.
Although there is a play area we did not use it as my grandson had more than enough room to play near the tent.
The on site shop is useful, but you are only 5 mins away from a 24hr superstore tesco and a 24hr macdonalds, there are plenty of places to eat in the nearby towns/villages including fish and chips, chinese and indian takeaways, although we prefer to cook on site.
The staff are very friendly and helpful
We would recommend this site to anyone wanting a peaceful break, and wanting to avoid the hubhub of a larger site with pools clubs etc.

This is a fairly large site and has a mixture of electric hook-up pitches and unserviced grass pitches. There is a fairly small but well maintained toilet block and facilities for chemical toilet disposal. The toilets and showers were always clean and there was always hot water.
There is also a covered area for washing-up and a laundry with a washing machine and tumble drier. There is also a room with tourist information, a map of the area and loads of electrical sockets for charging latops and mobile phones.
There is a good playground in the middle of the site. My children enjoyed this especially the climbing frame.
The village of St Helens is a short walk away. There are a few local shops and a pub in the village. The local buses also stop in the village. There are a number of footpaths close to the site.
The site is in a beautiful location with lovely views towards Brading. Although close to the road we were not disturbed by traffic noise at night.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. We will camp here again!
