The campsite is really friendly and it is pretty relaxed in terms of rules. Location is great on the side of the Ancholme.

The downside is it is really noisy? Toilets looked like something from the last night of a festival, there was dog mess all over and the electric kept dropping out.

Absolute hidden gem of a site if you’re looking for a laid back and relaxed area to pitch up, have fun and enjoy a few beers with some mates.

The camp was set out into 3 fields so we had plenty of space and the covid measures in the facilities were spot on. No queuing at all when we went.

There was a mutual respect on site - families and children to groups and couples seemed to respect. Music was tolerated, drinking was tolerated, kids running round and playing was tolerated.

Would definitely stay again!

Oh and the site dogs are the most friendly and playful ever - they made our stay immediately great! ✌🏻

Campsite for freedom, kids can be kids, fire pits offered. Utilities available. Lovely walks by the water.

Only thing to let it down is the accepting of other guests not respecting the rules, having party's into the early hrs, drinking and smoking cannabis, drink driving around the campsite.

Very friendly campsite with helpful staff. Good facilities. Nearby shop in the local village with plenty of essentials.

Very reasonably priced, hook up available. Nearby river ideal for fishing and small boat or canoe. Slightly off the beaten track and accessible from the A15.

Not my first visit and will be returning hopefully later in the year. Many thanks

We decided we would like to go camping and hadn’t booked. It was a hot Saturday but we phoned around and were told we could hire a caravan at brandy wharf for £35 a night. This saved us from sorting out our van and allowed us to take the kayaks.

Upon arrival we saw geese, chickens and dogs roaming freely and we absolutely loved it! It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but to us it was a bit of freedom in the countryside. However, The caravan we paid for had no gas included for the hob, no running water and no lights! When hiring a caravan you’d usually expect to have those necessities but none of them were there! It was like we’d just hired a shell so may as well have just paid for the pitch and stayed in the back of our van.

We laughed because you couldn’t write it really. It got to nearly 10pm as it was getting dark and we tried every switch but nothing turned on. The staff were lovely and allowed us to borrow some lamps but then we opened a cupboard and found someone’s leftover bag of cannibis, a lighter and some rizlas. There were also socks and other dirty things under the bed.

We laughed at it but it’s not a place for anyone who can’t cope with a bit of rough camping. We’d certainly go again just due to the laid back attitude, the sense of freedom and the fact that we could carry our kayaks straight into the river!

Animals and children run wild in this place and cockerels keep you up all night but the price is reflected I feel and the staff are friendly. I think you have to be extremely laid back to enjoy the visit so it’s only suited to certain people but we went home happy and hope to return in the future 😊

I have been coming to this site for a number of years but moreover recently. It's a good place just to get away from it all. Stroll the river bank and look at the wide variety of birds or cast a rod.

Also the canoe hire is very reasonable and boat trips are available to Brigg. I have noticed some improvements around the site and it seams a lot quiter at nights with music after 11.

The staff are helpful and the facilities are OK but could do with an update however they are functional. Bring all you need as no shops in easy walking distance.

It's an ok place at an ok price.
