At first we thought this campsite was brilliant. Nice location by the canal, easy going staff, fire pits, lovely weather and just a quick walk to the cider centre- who could ask for more?
Unfortunately though our stay was ruined by a massive group on our field who kept us awake playing loud music, arguing, threatening each other, revving car engines and generally making our sleep impossible. They were never told about their behaviour despite their pitch being right next to the wardens shack, so we suffered on until morning. We did actually tell the group to keep it down ourselves only to receive a lovely four letter word response and we felt very intimidated doing so since there were around 25 of them and only 8 of us. They also messed up the toilets with sick so our morning relief had to be taken behind a bush instead of in the toilets provided, which isn't good!
Our lack of sleep definitely ruined our weekend, because all our group were like zombies the next day, so we had to return home to sleep rather than partake in the activities we had planned to. It was such a shame to have loaded up the cars with canoes in expectation of taking advantage of the mooring facilities only to have to take them home untouched by water.
Very disappointed, especially since the site was highly recommended to us. I wouldn't go again, but would advise anyone that does go to stay well away from the tent area. Maybe the caravan and camper section is a bit quieter?

The site pitches are flat and well kept, the toilets were a mess. They state noisy to 01:00 am, ok but at 02:30 it was still a noisy site with loads of music, people screaming and shouting, bottles and cans thrown at tents. At 04:30 I was sat up watching my car and tents. The watchman came over to the loudest group had words which he lost so he walked away. You can stay on site till dusk on departure day. loose roaming dogs which belong to owners, these poo and pee all over. What could be a good site is spoilt by minorities. Pleasant river walks and a local pub, cider centre. Good site mid week but beware the weekend.

What a fantastic site, Joan and Godfrey are very kind people.
Our only gripe would be that the shower in the disabled toilet was not draining very well.
Our son and his new wife wanted their wedding blessed on the 1st. August 2009 and Joan and Godfrey let this happen, they provided the marque, tables and some chairs for us to use. In the evening we also had a disco. What a fantastic time we had. After the registry office the wedding blessing was just how Zoe and Andrew wanted it, even the rain didn't spoil it for them.
After the happy couple left the site the kindness of Joan and Godfrey continued even when my husband was taken ill, the care and concern never failed they are kindness itself.
Thank you Godfrey and Joan for a wonderful time that was had by all and we look forward to our next holiday with you all in September 09.

A very laid back site. If the reception area had not had such a strong smell of dog about it, it would have been excellent. The facilities were very good, however there didn't appear to be much attempt to keep the floors clean (ok I know it was wet but with a light coloured floor & black soil it's very noticeable.)
You have to make your own enjoyment & other campers were - with music allowed until 1am!
Not a site probably for those who want total peace, although we found it ok, nice long walk along the canal towpath, we didn't try the cider house as it looked a bit seedy from the outside.
The many dogs & cats appeared friendly even to campers animals. Cock-crow at this site means it literally - be warned if you are a townie!

Arrived Friday pm and shown to our pitch. Basic site, nice riverside location, a bit scruffy round the edges, but not too bad. Dogs running loose and fouling wherever they please .
Quite a lively site, with large groups everywhere and noisy at night. Saturday night was ridiculous with noise and music banging out till 4.30 am without the owners asking them to quieten down once.
Pub up the road, pleasant - nice walks on the door step. Very cheap site fees.

A large group of us just had a brilliant weekend at Brandy Wharf, one touring caravan and about 8 tents! We had tried the week before to add a couple more vans but the site was full and seems you need to be booking ahead. We took dinghys to the pub and just generally sailed around, some of the younger lads even jumped in the water! Its very peaceful and quite lively at night but no problem, everyone is friendly, quite a few groups go and all get the drum and wood for a good old campfire. The site owners are cleaning up the following morning but there is absolutely no rush to move on. We're going to book to go again with my husbands daughter and partner.

We regularly go to this site with a group of friends. Friday nights are usually generally relaxed but the site tends to get very busy from the Saturday when a lot of people come in tents to visit the cider centre down the road.
The site is well kept and the ground very level, toilet blocks are up to date but the floors are usually muddy which obviously can't be helped. The shower rooms are small but ok, several people get the same key and often 1st thing in the morning you have to queue to get in your shower room, often end up using own shower facilities in the caravan due to this but if you time it right there's not such a problem.
Drums can be supplied so you are able to have fires and a van comes around selling wood, the site owners have several dogs that run around as well but they don't seem to cause a problem.
The site is very lively and music does go on into the early hours so be prepared, this isn't a problem to us but may be to family's with young children.
The cider centre down the road is very good and would recommend the special cider, they also do bar meals.
A nice site for young couples and groups.

Arrived at Brandy wharf and was shown to our pitch which was a good size, however was not able to set up my tent as I had to move several piles of dog mess, something I should not have to do. Several dogs running around camp site which are out of control. Site had good shower and toilet facilities, you pay a £5 deposit for a key which you get back on return of your key.
A visit to the local cider house is a must, which also serve good food. Overall not a bad weekend, would go back
