This was our 2nd visit to this very scenic site right beside the beach. The site has many different areas, so there is a lot of choice regarding your outlook/orientation etc.

The ground is mainly level, but very undulating and very hard and stony. The pitches were very spacious, many people had awnings and windbreaks and boats on their pitch.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Being as close to the sea obviously makes it quite exposed and breezy, although you can select a more sheltered pitch if you want.

There are 2 toilet blocks, both clean and warm. They have different cleaning times so there is always one open. There is a large recreation room and a small information room. The reception shop sells the basics and on Tuesday and Saturday a hot snack van visits the site.

We cycled down to the lighthouse on one day which has a great café. The next day we cycled to Portpatrick which is a busy harbour town with lots of options for lunch.

 Love this campsite!

Ideal for dogs, right next to dunes and beautiful quiet dog-friendly beach.

Facilities up to usual immaculate CMC standards.

Closed for the winter now, sadly, but I'll be back as often as possible in 2019!

We had hoped to go cycling from this site, but it was very windy during our visit, so we can’t comment on the surrounding area, but I can say that the site is quite exposed to the wind.

First time at this fantastic site. Generous pitches and site is really well laid out. Facilities immaculate and beach within touching distance.

Ground a bit uneven and very stoned underground so sturdy hammer needed even for rock pegs,

Highly recommended. Very friendly site. Idyllic location.

This is a big site but it doesn't feel like it as there are so many nooks and crannies and alcoves where you can be all alone or not, the choice is yours. Only a few hardstandings but the ground is hard anyway and not difficult to find a level spot.

Two toilet/ shower blocks are adequate and up to usual CAMC standards. Access to the beach is just yards away. Nearby towns/ villages are Stranraer and Portpatrick.

Stranraer has a Morrison's plus Aldi and Lidl for provisions and fuel. Nearby Castle Kennedy gardens is well worth a visit. Portpatrick is just a lovely seaside village with a few shops and cafe and a pretty harbour.

Also worth a visit is the Mull of Galloway, the furthest point south in Scotland with its lighthouse, RSPB sanctuary and a great cafe. Spectacular views.

Spent a very nice two weeks here usual caravan club site amenities and of course up too club standards both toilet blocks are of a good size for the site with fresh water and waste water points dotted around

Pitches are spaced nicely around and not overlooking one another the ground is quite stony so rock pegs are a must the views from a lot of the pitches have a wonderful view over the bay but some pitches are more secluded if you prefer there is one small kids play area and a games room with table tennis and pool I believe but with the beach on your door step there's a whole kids play area there !

Out and about from the site there are the botanic gardens just up the road and the light house at the end of the road at galloway BUT make sure when you arrive at site you have enough fuel too get you back the 13 miles or so too stranraer because that's the closet and only place you can get fuel ! also shopping is really only done at stranraer at the morrisons or tescos

I will certainly return at some time in the future when I want a unspoilt area too relax and unwind in again

Geographically somewhere between Belfast and The Isle of Man but just 3 hours from Edinburgh.

Right by the sea with nicely secluded spacious pitches further back.

Usual Caravan Club standard facilities in a very peaceful area with great views and chirping birds.

Roads pretty quiet as towards bottom of Rhins Penisula on Mull of Galloway.

No pubs or food places within 30 mins on foot so car or bike required but hot snack van to site on a Friday or Saturday (fish and bakery vans on Weds). Shop has basics but more than expected.

Just need to be careful with rabbit holes but not a problem.

Site seems to drain well and not as windy as expected so possibly a nice micro climate.

Wardens helpful, friendly and not rule happy so first class.

Dog haven, we had a lovely dry warm week at NEB, the wardens and staff were very friendly and always had time to speak to you, worth a lot these days.

Nice clean showers, laundry room and the usual service points for waste water etc.

Nice clean sandy beach with lots of rock pools to explore, nearby shops in Drummore and A large Morrisons in Stranear.

The prime pitches appear to be on the second row behind the corse bushes near to the reception. Plenty of large pitches behind sand dunes with direct access to the beach.

Very peaceful site outside of the school Hoildays, lots of bird watching in and around the site.

TV reception is poor on some aerials, WIFI is poor unless you have the clubs site WIFI,

The shop has lots of milk and Scottish rolls in their shop, plus local ice cream.

We are a really looking forward to add this site to our next trip.

What a gem of a site. Even though this a a relatively large site, it dosen't feel like you're surrounded by other campers. There are pitches to suit every taste, if your choice be a sea front vista or the seclusion of pitch tucked away in the gorse. We found ourselves at the very end of the site close to the storage area (our choice). A lovely level hardstanding pitch, sheltered from the rather brisk (gale force) wind by gorse bushes, we were adjacent to the dog walking path, which wends it's way down through the gorse to the beach. Not the easiest of surfaces to walk on, so ensure you wear stout footwear.

One thing to note, some pitches are sloping, so pack your chocks if you're in a motorhome. Also beware of the rabbits or more to the point there excavations. A torch is a must when venturing to the facilities after dark.

We only managed to venture out to one local attraction. That being the nearby Logan gardens. There's a nice little tea shop on site and a small plant sale area. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to visit any other local attractions so I can't comment on any others in the area. However, this site is definitely on the tick sheet for a return visit in the future.

We loved this site, it is stuck out on a limb miles from anywhere but that is part of the appeal. The nearest town is Stranraer about 15 miles away and that is a bit of a dump to be honest although there is decent shopping - and you will have to go there to fill up with petrol, we couldn't find another garage anywhere on the peninsula!

The site is divided into several pitching areas by dense gorse bush thickets, and it's alive with rabbits so watch your step and your dogs. Just over some dunes is a lovely crescent-shaped sandy beach great for paddling and exercising the dogs. Toilet blocks are freshly updated by the looks, and spotlessly clean of course as CC sites always are.

The Rhins of Galloway has some nice little villages but it is a backwater, it's mainly farming country, nothing in the way of lochs and mountains. Visit Logan Botanic Garden if that's your thing, also Portpatrick is a pretty little seaside village a short drive from the site. If you want to chill out and just relax in rural Scotland this site is ideal.
