We have just returned from a week at NEB and have to admit that we could have stayed for another week. This is a typical Caravan Club site but with the added attraction in that you can choose from a sea view or a secluded pitch. We chose the former and ended up on the 'front row'.
The site has two facilities blocks which are up to the usual standard. I was particularly pleased at the quantity and temperature of the water in the showers.
The wardens were very friendly and freely offered advice and guidance about what to see and where to go.
Of the site, the only criticism would have been the speed of the driving of some of the guests. We pitched adjacent to where the one way road comes from the upper section to the lower section and the speed of some was amazing and worrying. We saw a couple of 'near misses' between speeding vehicles and children cycling the wrong way up the road. A few more sleeping policemen on the downhill part might help.
As other reviewers have said, the Mull of Galloway is a must. The lighthouse is open at weekends and bank holidays and from the top (on a clear day) you can see Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Lake District.
Another good attraction is Castle Kennedy. If crabbing is your thing then head for Dummore harbour - turn left at the T junction. On the far side of the harbour wall is a small concrete outpost. Our kids caught about 30 crabs in an hour. Port Logan is a bit sleepy and the often mentioned Port Logan Inn was closed for refurbishment. A bit bigger is Portpatrick and again, worth a visit.
Unfortunately for us, NEB is a bit far, but given the chance we would return.

Writing this review while staying here. What can I say the site is beautiful. Arrived to a good reception and then as with most caravan club sites asked to drive round and find a suitable pitch, this is the hard bit, whether to choose a on the front sea view or go for a more secluded sheltered view, in the end we choose right on the front sea view and what a view it is. This site is immaculate with two toilet blocks and kept to a really high standard. The site is big, however at the moment quite quiet although the warden had said the previous weekend was fully booked. Although the site is large you should be able to find a really secluded spot as there are lots of nooks and crannies to choose from.
The surrounding area is fabulous with the 'mull of Galloway lighthouse and tearoom' with spectacular views being my favourite so far.
If you come to this area then it is all about peace, quiet and tranquillity and at the moment all I can hear is the sea and the birds twittering away.
If you have children then there is a small play area and a cabin with a pool table and ping pong again very well kept.
We are now off today to visit some to the gardens in the area and unfortunately going home tomorrow when I just want to stay a little bit longer.
Will I come back here? Definitely, I can't wait.

Fantastic site. As a family we loved this site we picked a spot at the beach(if you do this remember torch for going to loo at night) and kids could play to their hearts content. Played on bikes too really safe site. Toilets and showers great. Husband gave it brownie points for how they cut the grass where they pick up the cuttings.
If your looking for places to visit we did Mull of Galloway views alone are fantastic (can only climb lighthouse mainly at weekend) Also visited museum at Stranraer free admission (donations). Also visited Agnew Park at Stranraer kids loved it there are boat rides, train rides, go karts etc(payment) rest of park free. Would highly recommend this site especially if its for somewhere to just chill and the kids run free.

We had a fantastic 3 days here but made even better by good weather. The site is spread out over the dunes and it was not until we had pitched and had a walk around that we realised there were so many nooks and crannys. Suggest having a drive round first and sussing out how far away you want to be from service points etc.
Good facilities, helpful wardens, basics sold in reception ie Bread, milk, eggs, sweets, ice cream and some tinned stuff.
Fish and chip van called Tues/Fri and fresh fish van on Weds night the week we stayed. There are also nature walks run through the holiday season, details in info room.
The games room near to reception is open 10am - 10pm - pool table, table tennis.
We did a lovely circular walk from site over to Port Logan (direction in information room) and back. The lane that runs across from the site to Port Logan is very quiet, pretty level and we only encountered 2 vehicles on the 2 times we used it.
The Port Logan Inn has great beer and nice, reasonably priced food with a lovely beer garden next to the beach. Port Logan beach is dog friendly and there is plenty of parking at the harbour end of the port or along the beach road at the car park (toilets).
The beach next to the site can be accessed directly from site and is great for dog walks.
Over all we loved this site as it had a more laid back feel to it than most CC sites.
Definitely need a torch at night!

We booked this site in June and then read the reviews on this site. We expected it to be quiet, but not as quiet as it was, there was hardly anyone there! We expected it to be remote, but not as remote as it was! The nearest shop for normal everyday groceries was 5 mile away in Drummore. The nearest supermarket was in Stranraer 14 mile away. If the weather had been anywhere near decent we could have walked to the nearest pub 1.5 mile away. If we had known we were going to get almost blown away we would not have taken our lightweight awning, the first time in over 20 years caravanning I had to double peg the awning to stop it blowing into the sea. If you go to this site I suggest you use a heavyweight awning and take plenty of rock pegs as I bent about 7 or 8 (the ground is very rocky). If this sounds like sour grapes it is, only because the weather was really bad.
Apart from all my gripes the site is very well maintained and the wardens and assistants were very friendly and helpful, the location and proximity to the sea is superb if, like us, you have a dog that loves to swim. Local villages around the area are very pretty and the locals are very friendly.

Just back from a brilliant week at this lovely site. It is in such an attractive and peaceful setting. It is very spacious with at least 6 metres between pitches and although it is a large site the way it is set out makes it feel smaller. My one and only complaint is there are not enough showers for the number of pitches and we had to wait most mornings and a couple of times the water was lukewarm.
That aside it is a brilliant site for cycling. The site itself at 17 acres is large enough to provide cycling opportunities for children. We really enjoyed cycling to Port Logan. As previous reviews mention the way to do so is by going up a path from the site you then immediately cross the main road and are on to a minor road with virtually no traffic. Perfect for anyone, but really safe with children. The Port Logan Hotel does very nice food and families are welcome, it also has different guest ales which my husband enjoyed. The beer garden directly adjoins the beach and I could have sat there for hours. Port Logan fish pond is interesting and worth a visit and the botanical gardens are lovely and has a good cafe where we had lunch.
We used our bikes to get to all those places which was great. We also did a trip to Belfast with a guided city tour. It was a lovely smooth crossing up Loch Ryan and by Ailsa Craig, the tour bus was waiting for us when we got off the ferry, it could not have been easier and was very interesting. We also had nearly 2 hours free time in Belfast.
The other must see near the site is the lighthouse at the Mull of Galloway. The exhibition and very nice cafe and shop are open 7 days in high season but you can only go up the lighthouse at weekends and bank holidays. Portpatrick is also a nice seaside village and well worth a visit. We were blessed with lovely weather and were able to spend time on the beach (which is great for kite flying). The whole area is stunning, full of wildflowers and great scenery. As you can probably tell we loved it and will return!

We had a great couple of days here and wished we'd stayed longer. Very spacious and good facilities, though the views can be a bit obscured by gorse / dunes even on the front pitches. Fish and Chip van visits on Friday's.
There is a play area and lots of grassy spaces for children to play, as well as the beach. For days out one suggestion that hasn't appeared in other reviews is a walk or cycle ride to Port Logan on the west coast, with harbour and beach overlooked by Port Logan Inn. This had some really good quality food and interesting fish specials on - even with more routine meals like Gammon you get a choice of a duck egg with it (or hen if you prefer).
Port Logan is a fairly level 1.5 miles along a minor road from the site (1 tractor when we cycled it with our kids). Note there is a short cut up through the car park and picnic area just outside the site that will save you the 100 yards from the site entrance along the main road - the traffic on the main road is very fast. The path is obvious on the way back but is easily missed from the site

Have been to this site before, although it is an out of the way place to get to it is well worth it and we will definitely be back again.
The weekend we stayed was a bank holiday so the site was almost full, I asked at reception if there were any secluded spots left, and unlike the previous reviewer found the wardens very helpful. We set up near the back of the site but because of the way it is laid out could still get a good view of the sea and across the bay. I think this is one of the most spacious sites we have ever stayed on.
The one criticism we had was the small toilet blocks, a few more showers would have come in handy.
Port Patrick is a lovely place to visit and had a very good sea food pub. The fishing in the area is meant to be very good but this particular weekend we didn't have any luck
A lovely place we will certainly be back

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing week here. The views from the site are wonderful and going over to the lovely clean toilets and showers in such scenery is a joy. The wardens were very helpful and advised us which pitches were available. We were really lucky and had a sea front one which was perfect for the kids. The play park is small but our kids loved it and to be honest there is so much space for them to play on the site and on the beach they hardly needed it. We felt quite far from civilisation here which was perfect for a relaxing family holiday, we cant wait to go back next year.

This is without a doubt a beautiful site. The pitches are indeed well laid out and there are some nice secluded spots where you are almost on your own. Arrive early if you want a 'sea view' though as these are the most sought after.
Toilet block and laundry facilities etc were adequate if a little small and a good standard of cleanliness - all that you would expect from a club site really.
Lovely big beach to walk or launch boats from, and a short distnace to nice rocky bits for fishing. I spent a little time watching the Gannets bombing into the water for thier dinner! Talking of bombing, the whole bay is an MOD bombing range which is off-limits to boats when the flags are flying! I don't know how often it is used if at all any more, but might provide some interesting watching when the jets are screaming in!
Television is hit and miss, this is an area that is switching from analogue to digital.
I can't stress enough how lovely the site is, and as I said there are some nicely discreet pitches available. But this leads me to the only real criticism. We were told to just 'drive around until you find somewhere to pitch. It may be easier to park up and walk around.'. I couldn't believe that they couldn't even point us in the direction of a pitch. Lazy so and so I thought. It wouldn't happen at the C&C club for sure. Over the days we stayed we saw many poor bewildered souls driving aimlessly around trying to find somewhere to park. If you have just driven hours to get there the last thing you need is another 15 minutes roaming around trying to find one of the hidden pitches!
I notice the previous comments about helpful wardens, but I wouldn't agree with that at all. Maybe I just arrived the wrong weekend.
But you don't need wardens to enjoy this site.
