Having read very good reviews of this site, we were a little disappointed upon arrival to find half the site closed but this was due to localised flooding on parts of the site after heavy rain. One of the two toilet blocks was also closed but apparently, that was because the site was quiet. This meant a long walk to the other block depending on your pitch. We were given a choice of pitches and chose one facing the sea, a mere 50 or 60 metres away. Unfortunately, after a day, the area around our unit became flooded and we were seriously concerned about trench foot! However, the toilet and shower block had the benefit of underfloor heating and were cleaned every day, the dogs were welcomed-but beware, lots of rabbits on site!-and the staff helpful.
The shop had minimal provisions; not just because of the time of year but no room for much more even when busy and no shops within walking distance. Stranraer is about 20 miles away, a good sized town with a good variety of shops.
There are some good walks from the site and the wardens were helpful in information about these. It is in a really lovely position and so nice to go to sleep listening to the sea. There is a good games room and outdoor play area for children. It was obvious that the site is very popular as many of the people there were returning visitors. Galloway Forest is a lovely place to visit; we had problems with our unit whilst there, so investigating the surrounding area was difficult but we shall certainly return-in drier conditions!

In a word - fantastic.
What has been said before can only confirm is so true. Site is right by the beach, facilities are immaculate, wardens are top notch.
The area is well worth exploring. Port Logan is a few miles away, pub closed for renovation when we went. Port Patrick much livelier with several hotels, bars, cafes. Really lovely little harbour too.
Stranraer has couple of supermarkets and a nice town of shops. Not good for parking though as all carparks have height barriers.
This is a top site - will definitely go back and can't recommend highly enough.

Pitched up for a week for a relaxing break. Plenty of pitches to choose although mostly grass with just a few hardstanding nearer the toilets.
We chose a sea facing view on the second level which was just lovely and my only down point is I don't really like pitching on grass, (the grass goes everywhere and our car is not great if the grass is wet which it was) never mind was worth it for the view.
Very well kept site, however not too manicured and all quite natural, toilets and showers kept to good caravan club standard although it does get a little muddy due to the wet grass.
This site is great for kids with bikes and also has a playpark and a teenagers pool room. There are also rabbits everywhere, great to watch. Very friendly wardens, chip and fish van on a Tuesday which proved popular and was very good.
A good day out is to the Mull of Galloway with a lighthouse and a lovely tearoom and gift shop with wonderful views.
You really have to take all your provisions with you as there is only a wee shop in Sandhead so better to stock up first.
This is our second time at this site and we would most certainly go back, very unspoiled and relaxing.

We stayed on this site for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The site is right on the coast with the sea being only a few yards walk away.
You can walk uninterrupted for miles, very well suited for dog owners.
The pitches are well spaced and divided by gorse bushes.
The Elsan Toilet and washroom facilities are very clean and tidy.
The site is very well kept. There is a small shop but it is very limited in stock.
The site wardens are very friendly and informative.
It was very quite on our stay with only a few caravans and motorhomes on site, just as we like it.
We do believe it gets a lot busier in the school holiday period. We will def visit this site again.

Lovely site right on the beach, ideal for a relaxing away from it all break. Nothing much around so take plenty of food etc shop has fresh rolls, milk etc fish van visits midweek but we were only there for long weekend.
Wardens very helpful and polite even although had problems with electrics when we were there but did not spoil our weekend. Toilets nice and clean. Would recommend a visit to Port Patrick lovely wee town with plenty of eating places and dog friendly, would be lovely in summer.

This is a fabulous site in a very quite part of the country. My wife and I have used it regularly for years.
It is a large site accommodating a good number of vans (over 150 pitches so if you want peace and quite and can avoid the main holiday periods (school and Bank) this is an ideal destination. I have photos of the site on either side of the spring bank holiday with barely a van in sight.
There are a number of areas to choose from to pitch the caravan with the view overlooking Luce bay a strong favourite, But beware it can get quite windy. I tend to choose a pitch nestled in a gorse-sheltered spot of which there are plenty. The sea runs right up to the site and is superb for dog walking, sea fishing and for the more active boating and swimming.
The site is well run by the caravan club and we have always found the staff friendly and accommodating, and we’ve seen a few. It also visited by a fish and chip van a couple of times a week, a fish seller which unfortunately we’ve never made use of.
There are all the facilities you would expect from a popular Caravan Club site but during the peak times I would imagine that there could be a wait for a shower.
This year they established a wi-fi access but unless you really need it I think that it is a little pricy.
The area is crossed with quiet lanes through undulating hills which appear to support thriving farm complexes and the near attractions include Logan Botanical Gardens, Port Logan, which was used in the TV series 2000 Acres of sky, Port Patrick and the Lighthouse on the headland. For keen walkers a more extensive drive will get you up into the woods and hills of Galloway Forest Park
For serious food shopping then a twelve mile ride to Stranraer will be called for. One can always combine a coast walk from Port Patrick with a trip to Stranraer.
In summary, a great site and I’ll be going back again in the early spring. Now that I’m retired I can take full advantage of the peace this place has to offer away from the bank holiday weekends.

I visited this site for the second time, the last time I was about seven years old and was with my parents! 20 years later and my partner and I were greeted with a lovely site with all the typical facilities and cleanliness you would expect of the caravan club. Direct access to the beach was great, especially as I came back from walking the dog with pocket fulls of mussels for tea!
Only a couple of downsides to the site and they are. 1). Ground not the easiest to put awning pegs into, so bad that we had to move pitches. 2). The water was off to the site for 8 hours a day for two days of our stay, not the CC fault but a call to us prior to arrival would have helped. (to fill on board tank/ buy bottled water)
The local area is great for walking and cycling, not a great deal to do on the museum/ tourist trail but we still kept ouselves occupied for five days. Even went on a day trip to Belfast for a Guinness.
My main gripe with the local area was that I could not get a descent pint of real ale anywhere! So I had to resort to supping in the caravan.
Lovely site and area, shame about the lack of good ale!

Will be returning to this site - excellent location for younger kids with plenty of space on the site for them to run around and direct access to a safe beach. Pity the weather wasn't great for our stay, so we didn't make the most of the beach.
We cycled on quiet roads from the site to the lighthouse (about 8 miles) and on another day over to Port Logan. Having been to the south coast 2 weeks before - We were amazed at how quiet everything was.
We will look closely at the weather forecast next time before we go as there aren't many places to visit without travelling a good distance if the weather is poor.
An excellent place for just chilling-out and doing very little.

An absolutely fabulous site with the usual quality staff and amenities that the Caravan Club are renowned for.
There are only 2 toilet blocks which don’t seem much for a site of this size which has over 150 pitches, but I must have chosen my time well as didn’t need to queue for a shower once.
One of the best things is the fact that you can drive around and choose which pitch to stay on, we chose one of the pitches at the back of the site – we still had sea views and a secluded area which was perfect for our requirements.
The site is situated alongside the sea and you are adjacent to the beach which is great for dog walking and there were several people catching fish from the shoreline and people on boats and kids in the sea and on body boards.
Stock up with groceries in Stranraer 14 miles away as there is no-where local to buy anything apart from the caravan site reception which has very basic foodstuffs.
The fish & chip van visits on Friday Evenings and a wet fish van sells supper on a Wednesday.
The site is a perfect base for exploring the area, we had our bikes with us and took the short cycle ride over to Port Logan along a quiet road opposite the site entrance to the pub for an evening meal it was fabulous sitting in the evening sunlight watching the fishing boats come in.
This village is where the tv series 2000 Acres of Sky was filmed, it is also home to the Logan Fish Pond and Marine Life Centre which is over 2000 years old and gives an opportunity to see the Fish Larder storing live sea fish which was made by adapting the natural rock formation on the shore and took 12 yrs to complete.
Logan Botanic Gardens are also nearby and plants which would not normally survive outdoors in Scotland are flourishing due to the mild climatic conditions. There are many beautiful plants to be seen. It has a Woodland Garden and a Walled Garden and also Terrace Garden with its stunning avenue of Chusan palms. There is a cafe for afternoon tea. Entry Fee is £5 Adults, Family ticket £10
Portpatrick is another lovely fishing village, but it does get overrun with visitors during the weekend.
The Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point, is around 10 miles from the site and affords fabulous views over to Cumbria and the Isle of Man. Do visit the Mull of Galloway Experience, a visitor centre and Lighthouse museum with opportunity to climb the lighthouse. At £3 per visit is a bargain.
The Mull is also home to the RSPB Nature Reserve which is a designated site of Special Scientific Interest.
Day Trips to Belfast are very reasonable and you can go by ferry with Stena Line from Stranraer to Giant’s Causeway by coach, stopping at Bushmills Village, where they make the famous Whiskey, for only £29 return!
This is a highly recommended site, I arrived home after enjoying a completely relaxed break. I will be going back for a longer break very soon and booked my next visit before I left.

We have just spent a week here, for the 2nd year running, and will definitely be back again next year.
The weather was great, very sunny. The site was quite busy with lots of children about but you wouldn't have thought so, the place was so quiet.
We chose a pitch at the back of the site which gave us a lovely view of the water. The toilets are clean, only had to wait once for a shower, go later in the day and you will get a shower no problem.
There is a children's play area and a games room for the older kids with table tennis etc. Wardens were friendly and available but maybe the shop could have a better range of products (It's quite small).
As with previous reviewers, we went to the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse which is well worth a visit, if only for the views. Portpatrick is well worth a visit and the Crown Hotel does a reasonably priced and lovely menu. The beach at Port Logan is good and we would highly recommend a visit to the fish pond. The girl who owns the place was extremely knowledgeable and obviously passionate about her job she made learning a wee bit about fish and the sea very interesting.
