This is the 4th year we have use Westwood as a base to vistit family and friends in Suffolk and Norfolk, having retired to Yorkshire. It is near the A12 and in turn the A14 for easy access to the site and to places around
The ownners are extreamly helpful, living on site with their own children. As they live in a caravan they appreciate the needs of us caravaners.
There are a lot of seasonal pitches, which are not always used so the site is not over crowded.
We apprecite a hard standing with our own water tap and waste pipe!
There is a good supermarket, Tesco, within easy reach or J Sainsbury - if heading into Ipswich on the Felixstowe Road.
The toilet and laundry block is excellent.

First ever campsite we've been to since purchasing our caravan and I have to say I think we are going to be hard beat to find many that match this standard.
Impeccable facilities, amazingly helpful owners and lovely location. Will definitely be going back there again!
The only thing that lets it down in my opinion is that you have to go offsite in the car for walks, pub and food. However I guess that adds to the tranquillity of it

Just returned from a lovely sunny weekend. What a lovely park, excellent clean facilities, play area, games room and dog walk. We were really pleased with the pitch which was a good size, with it's own water, electric and waste outlet. There are many seasonal caravans here, but that made it less crowded, which was nice.
The park is set in the suffolk countryside, set amongst fields that are farmed all year round. Suffolk being renowned for its agriculture.
The towns of Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Ipswich and many beautiful villages are a few miles away and although there is a small shop on site, there are many larger shops, no more than 15 mins away. There are also some public footpaths near the site for dog walking/bird watching. (Many species of birds on park too) and also a fishing lake near by.
The owners are a extremely nice and helpful couple and we will definitely return to Westwood.

Visited Westwood Caravan Park for four nights. Very well run and immaculately maintained site. Very clean toilet and shower facilities. Very pleasant and helpful owners. Plenty of hardstandings most with own taps and hookups. Dog walk as described, play area for the children.
Pub Channon 20 min walk but worth it good food. Not on a busy road but traffic tends to travel at 50mph plus. Best for caravans as you can use your car to get about, no shops for miles, bus stop at the pub, buses very scarce.
Cost £15 to get back to site from Ipswich by Taxi. Did Take the Van to Felixstow parking ok. Height barriers at Park and Ride. Did take van into Ipswich usual parking problems but managed it down on the quay and up at Christchurch Park.
Would use the site again but would be happier if it was on a bus route.

When I read the reviews before booking, the exceptional and spotless facilities were consistently praised, which is just as we'll, as there are no other redeeming features. The park is reminiscent of a clean tidy storage facility. Yes, there is a dog walk, a narrow strip of grass behind one row of caravans, and there is a small functional play area in one corner, but that's it - no beautiful walks into surrounding countryside, and the road the site is on may be a B road, but is nonetheless noisy, distracting and not at all restful, even through the night. The bird scarers setting off explosions in the field opposite did nothing to improve our initial impression. Within minutes of arriving we knew we had made a mistake - and a costly one too.
Having paid £100 for 4 days we decided our back garden was more peaceful and left first thing the next morning, having been told a refund wasn't possible, though a credit note was - not much good in the circumstances. If you are looking for a functional base for your Suffolk holiday, and the drum of passing traffic doesn't bother you, this place is ok. If you are looking for an idyllic country retreat (as described, surprisingly, by the AA last year), this is not it.
To be entirely fair, the lady in the office was very pleasant and helpful on the telephone. However, to be fair to potential visitors, mention should be made on their website about the disturbance from the passing traffic - not their fault, but without a mention, customers cannot make an informed choice.

Lovely, small compact site. The toilets and showers were extremely well finished and very clean. A small shop on site with the very basic items for your needs, a pity they did not sell newspapers though, nearest place was about 3 miles away!
The managers were extremely helpful, if you stay here try to get a pitch away from the main road which can get a little bit noisy.
The Shannon pub is about 20 minutes walk away, excellent food although a bit expensive, especially the wine (over £5 for a large glass). But the food was to die for! We missed the 'special days' where there were some good deals.

Site easily accessible and well laid out, although a bit regimented. Toilets/showers clean and modern however.
Fenced playground available for children but no play area visible.
Some road noise caused by the road which runs at the front of the site. This is a busy cut through from Ipswich to Felixstowe and is, therefore, busy all the time. Tourers are placed next to this road as seasonal pitches are at the far side of the site.
I would make campers aware that if you are holders of Camping Cheques and plan to use them, the site will charge for any canopy at £3. 50 per night.
The village of Bucklesham which is a short unlit, part pavement, walk away has a restaurant/bar, The Shannon, which serves excellent food but at a price. It isn't really a pub anymore and you would be hard pressed to have a drink before 9pm!
As far as we could see there were no shops in the village.

This was our first visit to this site. The facilities are good but we did have a few little niggles. There is a beautiful toilet block but there were only 3 toilets unlocked and one of these had a broken lock and wouldn't lock. There was no safety hand rail in any of the showers and I slipped on one occasion as the shower mat moved as I was stepping out. There was very little lighting round the site at night which was a little scary, but these are only small problems and they could soon be rectified. Also there was very little attendance in the shop.

We spent a long weekend for the August Bank holiday in our tent at Westwood. We were allocated pitch 54 - pitches are allocated in advance.
The only slight negative we have is that we were in between two caravans and felt a little cramped, but it certainly wasn't a small pitch.
Now for all the good:
We were charged £20 per night and that included everything - electric, showers, no extra for the dog and each pitch has it's own water tap.
The toilets and showers were kept lovely and clean and the showers were hot.
There is a small shop on site, and a small children's area at the end of the site (we asked for a 'quieter' pitch as we have no children and a dog and we were situated away from this, but the whole site is pretty quiet and peaceful which we liked. ) There is also a family games room with a pool table, which we didn't use but a nice extra to have.
The location is superb, very easy to find and centrally located between Felixstowe and Ipswich. 20 minutes walk away is The Shannon pub which was very nice inside, allows dogs in the bar area and served great food.
We would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

A small well-kept site with superb shower/toilet facilities that are kept immaculate. Although the pitches are quite big and all have water and EHU we were in between 2 caravans and it did feel a bit cramped. If there had been a car park we would have been quite happy not have our car on our pitch and this would definitely have given us more space.
There was a portable cabin with a few slot machines and a pool table but it was very small and when we were there it was very hot. There seemed to be lots to do for younger ones with a play park and a small enclosed area for ball games.
However we do have a couple of small moans. The main one being that on three occasions the shop was shut when according to the times displayed it should have been open which was annoying rather than a big problem.
We would also have preferred to have been in a designated area just for campers who like us were visiting which we feel is a very different sort of break/holiday than those who are on a site using seasonal pitches of which there seemed to be a lot.
Overall we did have a great time and would visit again if we needed to be in the area for a particular reason but I don't think we would use it as a base for a holiday again.
