Our first visit to this site and area of the country. The site has a lot of seasonal pitches and plenty of room for tourers and tents, but soon fills up and at times, especially near to the weekend, it can seem crowded but this can add to the friendly atmosphere and it never felt overcrowded, even when we were there during the first week of the school holidays and 25-30 degree heat.
A nice touch was that every tourer pitch had it's very own individual water tap, so no lugging water across the site. The young owners are very welcoming and friendly, not intrusive, but always willing to say hello or have a chat with you if you want.
The site is well laid out, very clean and tidy. A dog walking area is provided but to be honest we took ours around the country lanes of this beautiful part of England which surround the site.
The toilet block was the cleanest we have ever visited, they must clean it every ten minutes to keep it so clean, and the showers had oceans of piping hot water. It might be too hot for younger people (there is no way to vary the temperature) so the owners have thoughtfully provided a lower temperature shower unit for younger people.
There is a children's play area with swings slides etc and if it is raining there is a portable cabin with various games and slot machine games inside.
The road next to the camp wasn't a problem for us, and it is only a rural road so not that busy, we managed to walk along it and the surrounding area every evening and not be too troubled by cars (there is no pavement).
This part of England is so beautiful with so much to see, we explored the castle at Framlingham (amazing) and the finest medieval village in the world at Lavenham, as well as the surprisingly lovely town of Felixstowe. Clacton-on-Sea beach was busy and sadly, very litter strewn, despite an abundance of bins at handy intervals along the beach and promenade.
There were a great many air bases around this area in WWII and a lot of places have memorials and museums which are usually manned by volunteers. Pay them a visit and remember that very many young men gave their future so we could have ours.
Bury St Edmunds is another beautiful town, and the Abbey and grounds (free) are worth a visit.
The area around the site has some lovely pubs which serve nice meals.
A huge tesco is only a few miles up the road and sells just about everything, including fuel, for those of a clubcard disposition. And next to that is an indoor bowling ally and even a Kentucky Fried chicken outlet.
I would thoroughly recommend this site for either a relaxing break, even if you stay on site, but also as a base for anyone wishing to explore our beautiful country.

What a lovely site. Very clean and maintained. The showers were clean and very hot.
The owners were very friendly. All I have is good things to say for this site, loved my 3 night break here and so did my kids.
My kids loved the play area I hardly saw them whilst staying there, the games room was a very good idea. Everyone on the site was very friendly and my kids had no trouble making friends.
The pitches were a very good size and didn't feel cramped.
Will be coming back for sure loved everything about it.

We visited this site as we just wanted to get away for a few days without going to far, the site is easy to find just off the A14, we were greeted by the site owners who were very friendly and explained where our pitch was, the pitch was a generous size with water at the pitch, the toilets were just a few feet away but we never got disturbed by people going to and from the block
Positives
Brilliant toilet block, hot showers or warm showers, always spotless, mop and wipes for the sinks everything had been thought of.
Only 10 minute drive from Ipswich
Plenty of room between vans
Firm but fair owners who quickly asked some less considerate individuals to keep the noise down, a refreshing change!
Negatives
We have two active dogs and the dog walking area is very small, we therefore went off site every time they needed a really good run, and although this as not to much of a difficulty, it would be nice for the area to be cordoned off in the future so that dogs could actually run off their leads. This is my one and only small gripe and would not stop me using the site again should we want to stay close to home but get away from it all. Slight noise from the road but nothing that bothered either of us !
A lovely weekend, thank you

Overall this is a very nice site. We had a very warm welcome on arrival, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The pitches are of reasonable size, however I wouldn't want to return at a peak time as I think it may feel a little crowded with a caravan and full awning.
There are a lot of seasonal pitches but everyone we met was friendly.
The toilet facilities were very good. Seemed plenty of toilets and showers for the size site. There were even notes on the shower doors of which ones were hot suitable for adults, and those that were warm suitable for children.
The park was good for younger children, and the games room was good for slightly older children. Take plenty of change for the fruit machines though!
We didn't explore the surrounding area as we were only here for a weekend.
The only down side for us, was that there wasn't anywhere on site or within walking distance to let the dogs off lead to have a run.
All in all this is a good site at a good price. We will most likely return but not at a peak time.

Just back from a lovely 9 days a part of a small caravan rally (11 caravans)at this gem of a site. The owners went out of their way to make us all feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The facilities were first class, spotless at all times with lashings of hot water in an endless supply to both washbasins and showers. There was even a cooler shower for children.
Pitches were a generous size with no overcrowding. There were 3 pubs all within an easy distance. We only had chance to try 2 both were good.
Tesco is quite close but there is a small shop on site selling the basics you would need.
All in all this is a lovely site and is a credit to the new owners who only took over late last year and have worked hard to get it to the standard it is now.
Will definitely be returning at some time in the future.

Spent the bank holiday weekend here. The site was full but the facilities were always clean and well maintained.
Had to queue for the shower but not for long.
The adjoining road can be a little noisy so if you're in a tent probably best to ask for a pitch away from that side. And if you're averse to free-range kids then I would avoid school holiday times - the games room particularly was a hub of activity until well past 10.00pm!
Overall though perfectly acceptable for two or three nights.

What a lovely site – so clean and well run. The shower/toilet facilities were excellent and one of the showers had a cooler water temperature for the children, which was a nice touch. Our EHU pitch for our trailer tent was ideal with its own tap and plenty of space. There is a small area with play equipment set aside at the top corner of the site for children– but we didn’t investigate it as we didn’t have any children with us. It was all tents at that end, and that’s where most of the children were. There is a small games room for the older kids - next to the toilet block in the middle of the site, which has a laundry room (helpful for longer visits).
It was May Bank Holiday weekend and the site was nearly full, but wasn’t too noisy. Only 2 wash-up sinks meant a queue, but it was nice and dry and a chance to chat while queuing. There is very little shelter over the sinks, so could be uncomfortable to try and wash up when it’s raining.
There are no shops in the area – but seem to be some really nice pubs that do good food. We couldn’t go as we have a dog which stops us getting to some places. The best selection of shops is probably at Ipswich as there is a retail park with a supermarket (Tesco) and a B&Q if there are bits you have forgotten.
The road alongside the site can be quite noisy – but we live close to a busy road so it didn’t bother us.
We visited Felixstowe – for the first and last time.
The tourist information office at Woodbridge are extremely helpful in giving you stuff about the area.
The owners took over this site in November 2010 and they seem to be doing well. They had a information pack all prepared for us when we arrived, which we appreciated as this was our fist visit to Suffolk. Nice couple who are extremely helpful.
We will definitely return.

We visited Westwood on the weekend of the late May Bank Holiday. Booking was easy and the people in Reception were helpful. We were given an information pack for the local area which was nice.
Positive points-
The loo block was very clean and modern. We did not use the showers but they were labelled on the doors as to whether they were hot (for adults) or warm (for children), which we thought was a good idea.
The ground was reasonably level, we only needed to level slightly on one side.
The site is convenient for getting to either Felixstowe, or Ipswich, or any of the countryside between!
Having water on the pitch was useful as we could use our mains adapter.
The site was quiet at night, despite being very busy (see below).
Not so positive points -
It was very crowded. We were pitched right next to the tents, and the outer wall of the tent next to us was approximately 1 metre next to our van, at its narrowest point. We couldn't go any further over on our pitch without encroaching on the people on the other side of us. Thankfully we only had our porch awning with us, or it would have been even worse. Also, there was a big dip in the ground just where our door needed to be, which meant we had to be very careful stepping out of the van, otherwise we could have twisted our ankle. I think it was probably where a previous 'tenant' had maybe had a dog which had started to dig?
The people next to us frequently stood right in front of our caravan by our hitch in order to play boules (again, lack of space). They also tried to play with some foam balls on a couple of occasions, but gave up as there was no room and kept ended up on our pitch.
By the time we had our porch awning up, and parked our car on the pitch, there was no room to sit out with table and chairs although as it felt like we were pitched in the middle of a packed carpark, we weren't particularly inclined to do so anyway.
The children's play area was not large enough for the number of people staying. Our two children, 10 and 7 years, went over to it a couple of times, but came away again shortly afterwards as it was full of teenagers being teenagers.
I think this site would be better off-season when hopefully there wouldn't be so many large tents crammed in. It was a shame, as I think that has tainted our view of what is probably quite a nice site.

We have just spent one night here on our way home after picking up our caravan.
This is our first caravan and found the warden really friendly helpful, getting us on to the pitch and unhitching.
The sight was quite quiet and we found the facilities spotless and of good quality.
The kids really liked the play area.
Given we were only there one night the only place we went to was Tesco which was only a short drive from the campsite.
We did notice a few people having food delivered and menus in the small shop on sight.

We stayed at this site over the bank holiday, on arrival we were given a warm welcome and were shown to our pitch. Although the site was very busy we found that the toilet blocks were kept very clean and the staff came round twice a day to empty the wheelie bins.
The shop carried a selection of basics and there is a big Tesco store not far away. Just read another review of this site for the same weekend, cant comment on pitch sizes for tents but we found our pitch large enough for our caravan, porch awning and car and would have to say the toilet blocks are most definitely not portable cabins, nor would I expect to find electrical appliances fitted in a bathroom.
Had a pleasant stay and look forward to returning soon
