We stayed at this campsite on our 'mini' tour of France- we liked it so much we stayed a couple of more nights before making our way up to Brittany. The owners are lovely, friendly and welcoming and were at the end of the phone when we got lost trying to find the site! The pitches are huge and you feel like you have your own little piece of this lovely campsite. The showers and toilets were always clean and tidy and we never had to wait to use a shower. It is very peaceful but only a short drive away from the coast and its lovely scenery. If you want a busy campsite with pool, entertainment etc this is not for you, but it want a quiet, peaceful friendly site were you can relax this is definitely the one to visit. We will definitely be visiting again and it is in our favourites campsite book! 10 out of 10.

We (couple, 50s, UK & Dutch roots), visited this super campsite on a touring holiday down the Atlantic coast. Plan was to stay for a weekend and we ended up spending two glorious weeks here. Why? well, the weather was superb (I later heard the Vendee gets the second highest number of sun-hours in France), there was loads to do in the immediate vicinity (cycle tracks, clean beaches, swimming, salt-pans, quaint villages, catching shell-fish, drinking coffee & wine and letting the world go by. ) and the campsite is a real gem (huge pitches, quiet, enough shade, clean facilities, hot showers and, when we visited just before the season kicked in, very restful. )
If I were to think hard for a negative point, then possibly the presence of unsightly caravans stored at the end of a field would be the only gripe.
Our top tip for visitors: go to the Passage du Gois (submerged road) that links to the Island of Noirmoutier and do as the French do: buy some little rakes and go searching for shellfish when the tide is out. They are easy to cook and surprisingly tasty!

3rd visit to this peaceful, rural site. Other than the trees providing additional shade, nothing really changes here. The facilities are always clean and tidy. The lack of clubhouse and swimming pool mean that the site generally is youth-free! (A boon to those of us involved in education!) The clients on site are generally English and Dutch with an occasional other nationality. Lovely part of France, easy stretch to the coast and some lovely beaches and various tourist attractions. The Isle of Noirmoutier can be accessed by either bridge or Gois. Lots of lovely well attended markets in easy reach. Supermarkets including Intermarche, SuperU and Leclercs within 10 mins drive, petrol all competatively priced. For those with dogs, there is a very amenable vet in Beauvoir. Thanks Andy and Janette, summer was a joy but not long enough. See you 2016.

This was our second summer holiday at this amazing site. Janette and Andrew welcomed us back. The toilet/shower block has been refurbished and was always spotless whatever time of day you visited. The pitches are huge. The site is central to some of France's best beaches. There are plenty of supermarkets within easy reach. We made good use of the BBQ area and the free WiFi. Just like last year we met some lovely people from all over Europe on this friendly site. We love it so much at le fief that we purchased a caravan and now have it stored here ready for our 3 holidays next year (already provisionally booked). We are looking forward to our return visits next year.

Just returned from the most relaxing of a twelve day visit to France and stayed here for 10 of those nights. What a delightful site! The owners, Andrew & Janette were wonderful. As were others such as Heather and her dog Trio. We are a family of four (two teenagers) who specifically wanted a no clubhouse, no play area, quiet site and got exactly that(if you have active kids who want swings and playgrounds, don't come)I arranged for my parents to be joining us half way though the holiday. Janette and Andrew have a caravan that you can rent, so without any trouble, Janette ensured the caravan was booked for us and Andrew kindly brought it on to our pitch as the actual pitch sizes are huge! Plenty of room to sit and relax. The area was lovely to visit nearby places such as Pornic. This site is ideal for anyone wanting to get away from the humdrum of busy lives but you get free wifi around the BBQ area if you do need to be in touch with the outside world! It is exactly the place you can watch the shooting stars fly across the sky whilst listening to the Owl, Crickets or the Kites that soar high above the blue skies and to chat and relax with your family. Enjoy.

We stayed at this site for just one night on our French road trip, and actually didn't arrive until about 8pm, as we had been delayed earlier in the day, I had emailed them in the day to say we would be late, but the English owner was absolutely fine when we pulled up, advising us to choose a spot and pitch up.
The site was quiet and friendly, with good facilities, and had lots of things likened to an English site, including books to borrow information leaflets, a washing machine and a freezer for ice packs.
We had a fab and funny game of ping pony too.
Lots of English people at this site.
Its was good value for money €28 for four of us.
The only downside was that there was a bad pungent smell around the toilet area, saying to us that the Foss/cesspit needed to be emptied or replaced.

We fully endorse all the previous positive reviews. Andrew replied quickly to my initial e-mail enquiry and rang back an hour or so after I left a phone message regarding pitch availability the day before we visited. He and Janette are friendly and welcoming but not intrusive, and work hard to keep the site and facilities in excellent condition.
Although rural, the site is straightforward to find following the directions on the web site and close enough to the coastal and inland attractions and towns not to feel isolated, though having a car is pretty much essential to access these. It took us a little while to appreciate all there is to see in the area but after 10 days we feel there is still plenty more to see within 30 - 40 minutes drive. Although not on the coastal cycle path, the site is close to some marked cycle rides and the lanes round about offer almost traffic-free riding - and mostly flat! A highlight of our stay was attending the bread-making workshop in the village of Sallertaine (in the bakery where La Mie Caline franchise had its beginnings), kneading and shaping our own dough and seeing the loaves baked in a traditional wood-fired oven before fetching them home. It was all conducted in French and we were the only English people there but the rest of the group was very helpful and accommodating and we had a great morning.
The pitches on the site are amazing - huge, flattish, mainly open but with some welcome shade and there is just so much space! The electricity supply is 6amp (more than adequate as long as you remember not to run everything at once!) and although long leads are needed, extension cables are supplied. There are several water points (proper taps) around the site. The toilets and showers are unisex (not a problem) and of a good standard - we often use our own facilities but here chose to use the site showers as they were so good. We also appreciated the library and the free wi-fi.
We were sad to leave this site after 10 days and fully intend to return.

We wanted two weeks of relaxation and quiet as we live in the city and that's exactly what we got! Yes you have the local wildlife talking away but that was to be expected in the countryside. It was our first time here and reading all the reviews I thought let's give it a try! It was the best decision we made as the hosts Andrew and Janette were helpful and friendly. Our pitch was easy to find as we were in the back field believed to be at the back of the house and even though we were near the road and sanitary blocks we had no issues and the road wasn't busy! Even had a decent sized pitch! Shower blocks and washing basins were clean with plenty of local information and books to choose from! Our hosts even recommended a creperie restaurant in Beauvoir sur mer a mere 10 min drive away! It is great location for cycling as well and it was great to see a mixture of nationalities in there. Will definitely be back next year as still more to do and see!

I'm surprised that more people haven't reviewed this site, hopefully this plugs the gap :o). This was the 3rd site visited as part of our 3 week holiday in France and it was delightful, lovely and quiet without all the hustle of the larger commercial sites. Janette and Andrew greeted us on arrival and were very welcoming. The site is easy to find and the directions provided are spot on. The pitches are really big and we were spoilt for choice in terms of options to pitch the 2 caravans in our group. The showers and loos are spotless with a good supply of hot water. Washing machine available for e5, free wifi is a nice touch, the area is lovely for walking and cycling on the coastal path, Noirmoutier is easily reachable by car and by bike if you fancy a longer ride, we did both and really enjoyed the experience (great cycle paths) the village of St Gervais has a lovely bakery and fantastic butchery/deli - we all loved it and hope to return.

Sally and I stayed for 3 weeks in June with our two dogs. Yet another great break at this friendly site. The pitches are very large so you are never 'squeezed in'. The toilet and shower block are kept very clean and always hot water available. Great ' free' library in the block along with free WiFi and a table tennis table. Great place for cycling from on the quiet country roads - Passage du Gois is a must see trip, on a bike or in a car. There are two decent supermarkets in Beauvoir or take a trip to Challans. Best local restaurant is Creperie des Halle's by the market in Beauvoir - great crêpes but fantastic steaks. Once you've been there chances are you will keep going back, as we do. Enjoy!
