I used this site for a base to walk from and was very impressed. Good service and very clean facilities. 2 block of toilets and showers and they were never busy. Showers have a proper cubicle style so the changing area does not get wet at all.

Bar on site is great and has a good selection of drinks including a couple of real ales. Well stocked shop, and free re-freezing of ice blocks.

One part of the site is quite sloped and you need to pick your pitch well, dog friendly and has a play area for children.

I visit the Peak District on a regular basis and can safely say this site is in the best location I have stayed so far.

We turned up at this site on a very wet day without pre-booking. A stunning setting and good site. Toilet and shower block clean and well equipped. Laundry room and clubhouse (although we didn't get time to use it). Dog walk area - brilliant.
Some pitches could be sloping but we had no trouble with ours. Pitches nicely spaced out and plenty of room for the car. A little expensive for one night but if you made use of the clubhouse and have children, as there is a playing field and adventure playground, well worth it.

Brilliant views in the lovely Derbyshire countryside and not far from the town of Bakewell. Would use again,

Just visited this site for a long Easter week-end. The site is really well situated, just a 20min walk into Bakewell and Ashford in the opposite direction. The site in general has a really lovely and welcoming feeling to it. It is very clean and well maintained. Excellent for families with young children, a great play area for the kids. The Bar is great with seating both indoors and outdoors. The camp also has a well stocked shop for all your basic needs. The Toilet/Shower block is very nice and kept very clean but unfortunately it is not big enough to cope when the site is full, there was a constant queue for showers. This would be my only negative and a small price to pay for what is, otherwise, a really lovely and sociable campsite. Will definitely visit again but may try to avoid Bank Holidays.

Great site - a little windy, but that's something that comes with the views. We went with a large party with a number of tents, and we were able to be grouped together.

The site shop has a variety of foodstuffs and other requirements, there's room to walk the dog, and the staff were friendly.

Toilet/shower blocks were fine- clean and tidy.

Nearby Bakewell is a good centre, though a little lacking in places to eat that are child-friendly (the more promising ones were mainly full to bursting). It was a bank holiday weekend, though.

We'd go again (in fact, we tried to, but there were no hook-ups left for the date we wanted).

Just returned after 5 nights stay at Greenhills nice clean site, toilet blocks very clean and new looking even in the muddy conditions. We stayed on hard standing but plenty on very muddy grass, glad we were given hardstanding.

Showers warm, powerful careful positioning of clothes and no problems noted.

For a large site surprised at the lack of more toileting facilities 8 showers only but plenty of toilets. Night lighting quite poor in front of reception and toilet block slipped twice in the mud.

Play area not suitable for very small children but my 10 and tall 4 year old had a blast the smaller one with assistance.

The field for ball games was brilliant not muddy or waterlogged chance for the kids to let their hair down and run amok.

Shop and Bar on site not open during our stay but was advised the same.

Views from site fantastic Ashford in the Water very pretty and surrounding area brilliant for all outside activities.

Warden and receptionist very helpful and informative, small wooden summer type house houses loads of helpful and interesting information.

Downside was no heating in toilet blocks we got a special Sunday to Friday five night break £20.5 per night 3 adults, 2 children, awning and hook up otherwise it would have been £25-26 per night, we have stayed in sites on a par but with heating and still cheaper.

We would recommend site.

This was me and my boyfriends 1st camping trip (not counting girl guides!) Booked online, no problems. We stayed for five nights in october. We stayed from a Saturday, arriving about 5pm. I must say when we arrive the camp site was rammed. We were told to pitch where we could find a space, which we were fine with.

I discovered if you want a romantic quiet time with your partner camping on the weekend is not such a good idea, there were children everywhere so excellent site for family's with a play area. As from Sunday evening when we got back from a days walk, could not believe it, the camp site had cleared bar four tents, yipee.

Staff were very helpful and nice. We were lent a campingaz cylinder and paid for usage, they don't normally do this but we thought we could buy a new cylinder not having camped before, soo grateful as I needed my cuppa.

Lovely clean site with water taps distributed around the site. Also a big plus is the freezer for your ice packs. Shower blocks were clean. Didn't need to wait for shower in busy period although hot water was a slight problem when there were a lot of people showering over the weekend. Site had a little shop and information area. Staff will recommend walks.

Surrounding area is beautiful. A walk from Ashford in the water - loved the Bull pub, great beer and food, although food was a bit pricey, well worth it. Bakewell also gorgeous and full of camping shops if any extra bits are needed.

Definitely recommend this site, fell in love with the area. Can't wait to go back.

On arrival we found the owners/wardens very polite and helpful. It was end of Oct and the site was very muddy even though not too much rain recently, so if your visiting in Oct / Nov or mar/apr I would advise one of the few hard standing pitches.
Toilet blocks were modern and clean (apart from mud) although not heated, so again cold in late and early months. Shop good, playpark good and safe, stable bar good, serving real ale. Good dog walks, elsan points are direct into a sewer so bit unpleasant and deep, but overall a nice site in a lovely area of Derbyshire and its many attractions and activities. Lots of shops, pubs, restaurants, walks nearby about 1.5 mile walk into Bakewell.

On arrival to the site we were impressed with the space and layout. We were told by staff in reception to pay a bit later as it was due to rain and they suggested we get our tents up quick. Good advice however the rain beat us and we ended up putting up 4 tents in the pounding rain!

Unfortunately the 3 pitches we had were at the back of the site under some trees and at the bottom of a slope, great for privacy but not for the rain which turned our 3 pitches into a mud bath which, because it was in the shade, did not dry out all week. The 4 kids and 2 dogs we had with us were covered by the time our tents were up and I don't think dried out all week. Although it was fun watching one of them slipping over face first into the mud!

The site of an evening was a nice place to be. Groups of families sitting round chatting is nice to see. Yes as some reviews have stated, the chatting did go on past 11 o/c but we didn't find this too excessive and at the end of the day people are on holiday. There were a few youngsters who had over indulged on the cheap cider but it was funny watching them stagger over the mud trying to find their tents. The only downer in our week was my nephew's Nintendo DS being stolen whilst he was playing in the park but that is not a reflection on the site or the management, that just shows the dishonesty of some people.

Overall a really pleasant week despite the mud. The area is beautiful and the site is ideally located for a lot of activities from Alton Towers to the numerous fantastic walks in the area.

On arrival at the site the facilities on this site appeared great - reasonably large toilet & shower block, play area & field for kids and a bar on site.

Like the reviewer before me though (maybe we visited on the same weekend?) I found the site to be very noisy late into the night due to large family groups who let their kids do what they wanted.

As our first day/night wore on it also became apparent that the toilets & showers weren't really adequate for the size of the site/number of campers and this was bourne out by the state of them the following morning.

I'd recommend the site to those with older kids (up to early teens?) but probably not to younger families. The play area is mainly climbing frames with nothing for smaller children.

Having said all that we did have a good weekend & would return to the area again.

This was our second visit to this site and as the first visit we were satisfied again! the pitches are allocated which was good as there were 6 tents with our party and they went out of the way to put us all together

The pitches are quite level and the facilities are some of the best that we have seen! on site pub, very clean toilet/shower block, freezer for ice packs and a great childrens playpark with football field adjacent to it.

The site can get very full and is advisable to pre-book but is well worth it as everyone is very friendly and get on with each other.

It can be noisy with the children about, but in two stays have never had any noise after 11.

I keep thinking of any negative points about this site but hard as I try I can,t find any!

We visit a lot of campsites and have found this to be the best one ever and recommend it everyone and they always come back with the same views as us!

A VERY RECOMMENDED SITE!
