Have been here a few times and agree the views are exceptional with the site being kept tidy and clean, the staff can be very friendly but every now and then can be very military and reminds me of the Caravan club site. Would not recommend when the site is busy as the toilet and shower blocks are small. But overall a well run site. Can at times get very wet and muddy and on our last visit had to be towed off with the on-site tractor with the staff being very helpful.

Arrived on Friday to a very friendly welcome. Wish we had booked hard standing though as it was raining and we struggled with the boggy grass. Staff very helpful - we could not unhitch so I ask one of the friendly staff for help and he said it had happened to someone else that week but at least he knew what to do.
Toilet facilities very clean but the ladies shower area very wet. No hot water just luke warm at 8.30 in the morning for shower or pot washing. The site was not full so I wonder how the facilities cope both in size and hot water supply when full. A very helpful lady told us that she had been visiting this site for years and had learned to have breakfast then go for a walk returning to very hot showers later in the day - not sure this idea suits me but it might work for some.
The views from the site are lovely and for a family site it was extremely peaceful. Walk into Bakewell very pleasant remember that the last weekend of the month there is a farmers market. The real ale from the site bar was an added bonus. We would definitely go again but not in school holidays and we would book hard standing.

Arrived on site on Thursday 25 Oct. Halfway through halfterm holidays. Staff very friendly.
Rubbish and recycling skips were full. Shower and toilet facilities need updating. Only 4 ladies and 4 gents showers for the whole of the site not adequate and not warm. Would use site again but keep to own facilities in caravan. Considering I booked at least 8 weeks in advance and there was only myself and husband we were put right near children`s play area. Wished we could have been a bit further away as children were running around our caravan and playing in the evening.

Arrived on Friday to a friendly welcome, it is so much nicer when that happens, really gets the weekend off to a pleasant start.
Site is very clean, with great childrens playing area and field.
Great position for Bakewell and gentle country walks.
Large site with fields separated into statics, campervans/caravans and Tents.
Tent field has a slight slope, but as the site was pretty empty of campers (OCT) not a problem for us.
The bar is great and has tasty draft beers.
Showers are regularly cleaned. May be a bit small for a busy period.
Shop is OK but we went to the large COOP in the centre of Bakewell (5 mins by car with parking just outside)

If you are looking for a good clean well run campsite which is in easy reach of all the local attractions then this is the site for you.We stayed for a week in September in our trailer tent, the field which we stayed in had great views, the showers are very clean and always have hot water, the bar was handy for a couple of pints in the evening and we found great walks which set off from the campsite.Ashford in the Water is about 1/4 mile form the site which has some good pubs and Bakewell is about 1 mile away which has alot of pubs, restauraunts, cafes. If you are looking for a good pub which does a nice pint and proper pub food at a reasonable price then you must try The Wheatsheaf in Bakewell, alot of the other pubs and cafes can tend to be a bit pricey!
Theres loads to see and do in the area,if you've never been to Chatsworth before you must go for a day in the gardens *Tip for Chatsworth* take a large picnic with you as you can come and go from you car as many times as you like on a day pass and the gardens are massive. Also the cafes in Chatsworth are expensive and in our view not value for money.
One hidden gem is Matlock Bath, thats a good day out too with the heights of Abraham and the pretty little town with its riverside walk which is all lit up at night.

This is a lovely site. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pitches were a good size and well marked out. The children's play area was superb, our boys loved it. There is also a separate field for ball games, complete with goals! The shop was small but stocked all the basics. Showers and toilets were clean with plenty of hot water. Dish~washing sinks were also good. Bakewell has a good selection of shops, including a couple of good outdoor/camping places. Will be visiting again.

We have had a short break with out tent. What can I say. It was beautiful. The views were fantastic. The site was big. The facilities were great. There are walks all over the place.Because of the time of year we went there was only us in one huge field. There were quite a few tents in another field and there was a site for motor homes and caravans which was full.
We shall be calling again with our motor home in a few weeks time.
This site is the best private site we have visited and in some cases it is better than a club site.
Give it a go. It is really fantastic.

This is a lovely site in a beautiful location. We stayed for a weekend on Hawthorne which had clear pitches and night lights around the edge but has a slope on some pitches. We stayed with a group of friends and there seemed to be a number of groups staying.
The 11 o'clock quiet was not widely observed whilst we were there, groups were out chatting until 1.30am, though no loud music etc. So if you want an early night then you may want to take some earplugs. It was a busy weekend so we had to queue for the showers and the toilets ran out of toilet rolls a couple of times but are generally kept clean and tidy. The children enjoyed the play ground and the children's entertainer.
The walk into Bakewell along the road is quite noisy due to the traffic, but you can take an alternative path along the river (not suitable for pushchairs) The site will provide a sheet of instructions for local walks. Bakewell has a good range of shops including a good size Coop. You can feed the ducks and geese near the river.

We've just got back from a short break at Greenhills. The facilities were fine, although as ever, more showers required. The site shop didn't always open at the advertised hours, much to the annoyance of my son and sweetie money burning a hole! However the playground more than made up for that. The staff were very friendly and the site pub very welcome as the evenings were chilly. We didn't walk to Bakewell as this was a not to pleasant route along the A6 which rattles directly past the site. However there is lovely walking to be had. The Monsal Trail, but even better, the Baslow and Cubar edges are just a few miles away and proved very exciting for our 8yr old. Be warned the site is on a slope and fairly exposed, when the wind blows you'll know it. All in all a good time had by all and a return visit most likely.

Very family friendly site. Great views, adequately sized pitches, polite staff. Plenty of sinks for the dishes- (i wonder if dishwashers will ever get introduced onto sites (electric or human), plenty of toilets including an additional overflow portacabin toilet block. Showers were warm too which is a bonus. Good shop but need to order newspapers in advance. The first speedhump as you hit the site is rather fierce, luckily we got the ladder out and got over it. Dog walking area adjacent to route into the park, don't mind paying for the dogs but it would be nice if we were given poo bags or something- it might remind the odd forgetful person to pick their bits up. Will return again and soon.
