Beautifully located picturesque site - fabulous views!
Visited with another family who were in a tent and were very pleased that we could book pitches next to each other. The pitches were very close together but on this visit it didn't matter as we are good friends! Usually use Caravan Club sites which give you loads of room so maybe we have been spoilt but would not return to this site unless we were travelling again with friends.
Showers were nice and hot but cubicles very small - not easy when you have to take children in with you. Also the showers were not very clean but think this was the fault of the previous occupant not the site itself.
Play area good but not much on it for toddlers.
There were lots of tents pitched in groups and our neighbours partied til 1am - didn't moan as didn't want to be a party pooper and didn't disturb us too much in our van but they kept our friends awake who were in a tent!
Would definitely visit again in a group but not a place to go for a quiet time!

When we arrived at the site, it was very rainy and the grass was very boggy! We wondered how we were going to get on our grassed pitch as the car would get stuck. However, the people were very helpful and towed our caravan onto the pitch, using their tractor! Because it was so muddy, the caravan was messed up quite quickly! We had to go out in search for wellies in Bakewell!
The 'roads' within the campsite were more like muddy tracks, with big puddles everywhere. To improve the site, they could maybe resurface the roads to minimize this.
The site is lovely and clean, with gorgeous surroundings. The onsite pub is great, but isnt open enough (only fri and sat nights). The playground is good for the children and you can sit on the pub benches outside as they play.
Toilets and showers are very clean and water is nice and hot.
Bakewell and Ashford are on your doorstep, which is fab.
So many positive, id definitely go again, but not during April.Maybe in the Summer when its drier!

Toilets and showers clean. Showers small but water hot. Shop has limited selection but basics covered. Difficult to find level pitch in campng field. Main site is level but appears focused on caravans and other hard tops. Bar again basic, no food, but with entertainment on weekends. Grass well cut- it took three days for all fields to be cut and strimmed which caused a minor irritant. The site warden was determined that ball games should take place in the field provided rather than impromptu in the centre of the camping fields.
The views from the site are outstanding and provides inspiration for tackling the good walks available in the area.
Ashford just down the road is limited to a small shop and three hotels/pubs.
Bakewell is easily accessable (one mile) and provides all the requirements as mentioned by other reviewers.

Just come back from greenhills, a nice site, great views, showers and helpful staff ( even though they seemed under a lot of preasure )
The camping fields are on a slope, so pitch right or you may roll out of bed.
The toilets and showers are new and spotless, the only down side is the shop only opens 2 hours in the morning and afternoon, you have to ring a bell and get the warden out from reception which made us feel guilty so we did not use it.
The town of Bakewell is wonderful but ask for a tart, they are puddings,

Stayed sun to tues on a special deal excellent value. Lovely site but pub was not open bit disappointed but suppose it was due to time of year. Short walk to Bakewell where the shops etc. are lovely. Will definitely go back for longer and more into the season.Brand new facilities superb.

We arrived mid half-term holidays as the pitches for tents with electric hook ups were fully booked (booked in March too!) so that says a lot for the site.
The weather was torrential rain the day we arrived and there were huge deep puddles all in around the reception area and washing up area so I was soaked as soon as I got out of the car! Wellies were essential. This soon dried up the next morning though.
The views in the large field were superb and the large playing field was great for the kids to play in.
Staff were helpful but bruske and could have been a little friendlier.
Shop was well stocked and there was a helpful information centre listing loads of leaflets for local attractions. There was a free paperback exchange system available too, which is great for those who like a read.
The loos were clean and tidy, showers were very small and busy first thing in the morning.
Bar on the site was small but welcome and the outside seating benches and tables were fab and we could keep an eye on the kids.
My boys loved it.
Bakewell was lovely and we enjoyed looking round the town and looking at the fish in the river.
Haddon Hall is well worth a visit, it is a really beautiful quaint country house where Jayne Ayre was filmed. Very romantic. Maybe not one for small children though. Has a small gift shop and is not as imposing and commercialised as Chatsworth.
I would return here as we had a great time.
Just ask for a level pitch if your in the main tent field as some on the outskirts are steep.
Overall a great site.

Stayed here for a week beginning of June, midweek, in a tent with two adults and two dogs. Very well equipped site even including laundry room which came in very handy and bar with very good offers (Carlsberg £1.50 a pint!).
The first night weather was great but didnt sleep very well due to slope on field but after some slight alterations to our sleeping arrangments we found that we didnt notice the slope.
Never showered in the mornings so cannot comment on hot water but in the afternoons there was plenty of hot water and shower rooms/toilets were empty. The cubicles are small but managable and never had any problems with the toilets running out loo roll.
The staff were lovely and seem to work hard to keep the site in the great condition it was. They were happy to open the shop well after it had closed so I could purchase another chair as stupid boyfriend snapped his in his drunk state!
The shop was well stocked but get there early for bread. We ordered papers on our arrival and picked them up from reception every morning. There is also a very handy freezer for packs for your cooler box.
The dogs were well catered for too, the field for dogs was great, very handy for their first and last toilet visits of the day, very clean too.
Bakewell is only 1 mile away which only took 15 mins to walk. There are about 5 or 6 pubs all with some sort of beer garden or patio to sit with dogs. Our favourite was the Castle, lovley food and nice beer garden. It got quite nippy during the night but the staff let us in the pub even with the two dogs (collie and german shepherd) and they had a quiz on after which they provided sandwiches for everyone.
All in all a very good holiday and before we left we booked our second break in July but this time for a weekend. Loved Greenhills!
P.S If you manage to wake up quite early check out the surrounding fields, it was lovely to wake up to see rabbits running around next to the tent!

Just got back from our second visit to this site, all the facilities are just as described in other reviews. I was dissapointed this time to find no hot water for a shower at 9am, not that the kids minded! I would also suggest taking loo roll, as again several toilets were empty first thing in the morning! This site is great for families with kids, ours enjoyed the playground and playing field. We didn't use the pub this visit as we were a party of 9, with several boxes of wine to drink! Bakewell has a small supermarket in which we found everything we needed, and then headed to the pudding shop for a slice of the town's finest. All in all mine are minor gripes which are compensated for by great walking in the area. Our kids were suprised and loved the Lamas (alpacas?) in a field on the footpath by the river to Bakewell, who would have thought.

This is our third visit to this great site. We come back because it readily accommodates caravans and tents side by side, which some other sites don't want to do! Our party consists of 'vans and tents, adults and children and there's enough here to keep everyone happy for a long weekend. There's a fabulous field for the playing of very competitive rounders ,a great play area for the younger ones, and a small but perfectly adequate pub. The shop sells bits and pieces - sausages, bacon, milk, bread; Bakewell is just down the road with supermarkets and really good butchers for the BBQs (if you're blessed with sun). The site is clean and well organised and plenty of space on pitches. We've never stayed on the tent fields, but they look vicious! Very steep slopes, yet these don't put people off, every time we've been the tent field has been full to capacity. The only downside are the showers, very small and be careful to go afternoons rather than mornings so you get hot water. A cold morning shower is refreshing, but not necessarily pleasant.

What a fab site! Tents with hook up in a separate field. Very laid back and very safe for kids. Shop is well stocked and the showers were adequate. What you would expect for walking country!. The bar on site was fab very in keeping with the whole site (it's a converted barn). Kids had a ball! A gang of young adults were there and played baseball till dusk with them. Will be returning soon, we are lucky because it's only 20 miles from our house!
