Campsite was very close to alton towers. Easy 1 mile walk into Cheadle where you can find supermarkets and lots of takeaways. Noise levels late at night were unbearable from a group of campers and nothing was done to control it.
Toilet and showers facilities were very good. Nice hot showers which were free.
Food/ bar facilities were terrible. The bar is only open on the weekend and the only food facility was a burger van on site open for breakfast butties and coffee.

Took my 9 year old daughter here over the Whitsun bank holiday and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The play park although not the biggest is more than adequate and was well used by lots of kids. There was also a football pitch next to it with proper goalposts. My daughter spent loads of time on the park.
The snack bar, as previously mentioned, looked top notch and reasonable prices too although I didn`t actually use it.
There are plenty of take aways in the local village (Cheadle) and, as the site is only 1/2 mile away, they do free delivery. I took advantage of this on Sat night. One enterprising takeaway left their menu underneath our windscreen wipers !
We were on the smaller field which had caravans in the middle mainly and tents around the outside. This field is sheltered by trees/bushes and was very peaceful. Most pitches had electric hook up although I didn`t need this.
Plenty of water points and bins/recycling points which was good. Very well laid out with good access.
The bar was in the (run down) hall which although had character was looking a little tired. I think it may have been very grand many moons ago ! The beer was good though and was keenly priced. No complaints there.
Aside from the bar it also had a great Dirty Harry pinball machine and a selection of arcade machines and two pool tables in their own room.
Bingo was played on Sunday !
Could do with a shop although as Cheadle is so close it wasn`t a massive problem. Cheadle has a Morrisons, an Iceland and a B&M shop along with a good cake shop and a WH Smiths etc.
The shower/toilet block is very clean and was cleaned on a frequent basis. Water was piping hot. It looks quite new. Outside there were 4 washing up sinks with large drainers. There was also a laundry room.
The site is only about 6 miles away from Alton Towers and 12 miles away from the excellent Water World which is truly brilliant for kids of all ages. If you`ve not been I`d recommend it.
Would I go again ? Yes without doubt although you do need to have days out planned unless there is a large group of you. The other field looked great for rallies or large groups.
Not perfect, but for the money, a great site. TOP staff.

Arrived 31st May along with tent, 2 adults & 4 children. Reception/Check in we found very helpful & useful for local information.
When we mentioned we may like to stay an extra night dependant on the weather this was clearly not a problem. The site was ideal for our needs esp the playground along with football nets.
The toilets/shower block were very clean, despite somebody jamming the ladies shower overnight. The snack bar was handy.
The only thing for us was the bar/games room was closed during our 3 night stay & it was all a bit hit & miss if it would be open.
Overall very handy for Alton Towers & the nearby town Cheadle which has lots to offer for shopping & provisions. We will definitely return.

Overall we did find this a very pleasant site. We just stopped the one night as a trial for our new unit.
The staff we friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and well maintained, the snack bar on site was particularly useful for cooked breakfast and the playground was a big hit with our 4 year old.
However, this site could really do with closing the park at a certain time as the noise from this (mainly youths rather than children) went on until 12 and the site was generally noisy over night.
In general like I say, a pleasant site but we certainly won't want a pitch near the park again should we return.

Arrived Friday dinner for a 3 night stay over the Easter weekend. Check-in fast and explained where everything was,
Snack bar on site open from morning till late evening didn't sample the food so cant comment. Large children's play area.
Shower block clean and tidy with plenty of hot water when taking a shower, my only negative is there is nowhere to hang your towel etc just 2 little hooks.
Hales hall house is a little run down, went in on the Saturday night for a drink but there was no entertainment on as stated when we arrived. Didn't sample the food from the house but did see a family eating and what I saw it looked quite tempting.
A good site for a base for Alton towers being only 3 miles away.
Overall I would rate this site 7/10 and will return back sometime.

Have just come back from 2 night stay here. The site is well kept, with a good children's play area, with climbing frames etc, and a football area complete with goalposts. The site was quite empty while we were there, although there are several seasonal/permanent pitches.
The toilet/shower block was nice and clean, with lots of hot water from the free showers. The pot wash area was good too, with plenty of hot water. We went into the bar early one evening, but it was quite full of mainly men drinking, so as I had my young son with me we didn't stay long. Didn't try the food, menu 'anything with chips'.
The food van on the site was lovely, reasonable prices, good quality, friendly service. My only negative would be the noise, coming from the bar area/seasonal pitches, and the traffic which seems to be coming and going all the time. Some of this might have been going to the bar. We also had children playing ball games around our car/tent, despite the excellent play area only 50 yards away. All in all, a nice site, but I doubt I'd return, because I prefer somewhere quieter.

We have just returned from spending 2 nights in a tent here, 2 adults and 2 children.
The staff in reception were very pleasant. We had to leave a £20 deposit for the key to the toilet block which wasn't a problem to us although at times was a pain when one of the children nipped off to the loo and forgot to take the key! The toilets and showers were clean and well maintained and there was a washing up area outside and plenty of taps around for drinking water.
There was also a bar area that served food and a games room.
We ate in the bar on our last evening and although the menu was limited it was freshly cooked and tatsy. My only criticism is that it is in part of the old house(Hales Hall I assume)and could do with some renovation as it seems a little un-loved but could be a real asset.
We also found that on our first night a young couple arrived in the dark in their camper van and were still cooking and slamming the van doors at gone mid night
The site was clean and pitches a good size although on a little slope in areas but surrounded by trees with a very pretty view, but we did hear the odd boy racer flying along the nearby road. We used the site as a base for Alton Towers and that was ideal but I'm not sure if I'd return for any other reason.

We arrived at this site at midday on a Friday to stay for four nights. Staff at the reception gave us the choice of two fields one of which had EHU facilities etc. We had the choice of many pitches and I am glad we arrived early as by tea time there were few pitches left and by the evening any late arrivals had little choice at all.
The site itself seemed well managed in that there was always someone at reception or near the toilet/ shower block area. There was a mobile canteen at the entrance to the site which we did not use. There was also a bar in the old building forming the hall which again we did not use. The site also had a small play area for children which my youngest absolutely loved. During the daylight hours whilst at the site we did not know we had her with us as she was constantly at this play area.
The toilets were clean and well maintained. The showers were a little cramped and in an L shape. There were no tables and not enough hooks on the doors which made it difficult to get dried and changed. You are required to give a £20 deposit for the toilet block key to get access late on an evening. They were not the best toilets I have found at a site but they were clean and well maintained.
Over that Friday and the following Saturday evening the site was a little noisy. In particular it seemed to be from the seasonal pitches and this went on the first night to beyond 11.30pm. That said it did not disturb us too much.
The site is close to Cheadle where we found plenty of facilities if we needed them such as convenience shops, pubs, takeaways etc.
The site is also close to Alton Towers just a ten minute drive away. We found that a good many of the other campers were there to go to Alton Towers as we were.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and if we were going to Alton Towers again or the lower Peak District then we would definitely go to this site again.

The site was very clean and the facilities such as showers and toilets were very good.
However, whilst there is a noise policy on site, this did not stop some caravaners from playing Northern Soul music quite loudly all day and into the night. This was then replaced by some dance music coming from a different field which could still be heard at 02:00am in the morning!
Seems a shame that this is not being kept on top of! Also, some of the older 'resident' Caravaners seem to think its ok for their dogs to soil near the park without cleaning up after it!
All that said, it is a very decent site

We stayed here after booking fairly last minute for the bank holiday weekend. We were able to get a pitch with electric hook up.
The site- lovely and well kept, plenty of spaces
The facilities - didn't really use the pub as it was packed and dogs not allowed right in, burger van handy, reception staff very helpful indeed
Toilets/Showers- Excellent condition, the site owners were always in there keeping on top of things. 3 showers and plenty of toilets
Just some very noisy people at night. Lots of large families together, all having a lovely time but it was till late. There was a good atmosphere though and we still managed some good sleep.
We would go here again
