My family and I have just had the best weekend break stopping on Hales Hall Caravan & Camping Park with our touring caravan. On arrival we found out that the park had new owners who made us feel very welcome. The toilet block had been refurbished and Mrs Wood and her family kept it very very clean. (this makes a change from a lot of parks we have been on) The park is in a good location for visiting a lot of attractions around the area including Alton Towers and it also has a bar on park (not owned by Mr & Mrs Wood)which is handy. My family and I have rebooked for the May day holiday so I would recommend this park to any one from family's to couples

Stayed here last weekend sept , as going to Alton towers , site was ok yes its old but staff were very friendly , the pitches were sloping and seemed to be lots of residents to the site , but all friendly , the shop was old but had lots of character , same as pub! there was no swimming pool, toilets were clean and well stocked , and warm if door was left shut. Its was noisy on sat evening due to youngsters in tents but that's to be expected beng so close to alton towers . We had nice stay and would return if we were off to alon towers again, but not for a holiday.
Oh its expensive at 18 quid a night !

Positives: site staff very friendly and welcoming; shop and bar on site; handy for Alton Towers; good shopping nearby.
Negatives: expensive(£18 for sloping grass pitch); dirty facilities; no pool as advertised; many old statics strewn around.
Would I return? Yes, if I needed somewhere for Alton Towers as I'm not too picky. But if you're planning a nice spot for a holiday, this place is not ideal!

We stayed here for 2 nights because it was close to Alton Towers, and previous reviews stated that they didn't mind groups (we had 11 of us aged 24-27 in 5 tents and 1 caravan). On finding out there were more than 6 of us the manager did say on the phone they didn't like to take groups anymore, however we explained we were all in couples and when we did all turn up and camp together no-body seemed to mind. We were probably the latest up until about midnight.
The womens toilet block had 5(?) toilets and 2 showers. They are in need of updating but were clean and useable, showers were hot but water pressure a bit poor.
We had electric hook-up for the caravan and a water tap near us.
The little shop on site we used for cups of tea and breakfast baps in the morning which everyone seemed to enjoy.
There was a Somerfield, Lidl and Ice Land 5 minutes drive down the road which was really handy.
As well as Alton Towers about 10-15 mins drive, there is Trentham Monkey Forest (walk amongst the monkeys, great for adults and kids) and Ariel asault course about 20-30 minutes drive away. We had looked into where we could go bowling and to the cinema if the weather was bad, there were places in Stoke-on-trent and Newcastle-under-lyme which we estimated to be 30-40 mins drive away.
We would happily go back for a couple of nights if we were in the area again.

A friendlier bunch of people you could not find anywhere in the UK. We've been a few times - it's great fun.
The staff all multitask- the chef becomes the karaoke jock in the evening. We took all our own discs and books and joined in the fun.
It's old fashioned, run down and the swimming pool is condemned, but it all adds to the appeal.
The pitches are mainly sloping (great if you've been at the bar all evening,) piped music to the showers, and it can be a bit rowdy. The plus is that you don't have to keep telling the kids to keep the feet off the furniture LOL.
HIGHLY recommended

I stayed at Hales Hall with my husband and two other couples. We were mainly in the area to go to Alton Towers.
On arrival we were plesantly surprised with the campsite and it was easy to find, with an ideal location to go to Alton Towers.
Unfortuntely our stay didn't go without problems, the showers were dirty everyday I wanted to use them and I had to request for them to be cleaned. Also there were large groups of young boys and girls staying in the field next to us, I understand people need to have fun but I did not appreciate loud music and signing into the early hours of the morning when we all had to be up at 7am and drive 4 hours home!
If you want a no frills camping experience then its fine, but I don't think we will be returning again.

I took my family 2 adults and 4 children to Hales Hall in August. We chose the site as it is very close to Alton Towers. The site was clearly signed from the roadside. The cost was average for the size of my family and the man on reception was very helpful. As the site was busy with group bookings he directed us to the quieter field! he also explained where the toilets, bar and playground were. Although we didn't visit the bar, the building was lit up and inviting. Children were welcome throughout the camp. There are no hard fast rules, and no curfew in place. A few campers took advantage of this but it wasn't a probem. The only complaint we had was the state of the showers. The toilets were clean. The overall feel of the camp was friendly and relaxed I would stay there again.

We stayed at Hales Hall from Friday 24th August - 26th August. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were welcoming on reception. Toilets and showers were adequate, although my wife said queues were very long in the women's toilet and shower block. There is a pub on site which we visited briefly on the Saturday night. Not much seating area, but again no complaints at all. There is a small park area for children and a little shop on site to, which sells breakfast if your BBQ skills aren't up to speed! There is a pool on site but this wasn't open due to life guard restrictions we were told. We only booked the stay a week before hand and were amazed to get in anywhere on the Bank holiday weekend. Hales Hall did not disappoint.

As with some other reviews I have read regarding this site, it is run down and in need of updating, if you want night clubs kids clubs go elsewhere and pay the extra. On the plus side, the staff are friendly and helpful, the shop does all the basics and a mean breakfast bap and tea, the bar also serves good food. Nice and quiet for families with young kids and only 6 miles from Alton Towers. Nuff Said! Would my family go back.Yes

Really friendly staff and really helpful. First night was really dry and alot of insects about. Spoke about asking a little fire to sit around to keep the insects away and they had no complaints aslong as we set up a boundry with logs and rocks. Really good for the town half a mile away. Showers were really hot. Toilets were clean. Highly reccomended for groups and familys who was to enjoy their camping without all the strict rules.
