Lovely relaxed site. Own bin next to each plot, plus I had tap right next to mine. Level tarmaced spot with own picnic table.
Fantastic for the dogs with an adjacent field where the dogs can have a safe run, leading to the Leebrook nature reserve.
The owner couldn't have been nicer. The best free shower I've had on any campsite.
Go to sleep and wake up listening to the birds.

This site is excellent. The location is perfect for me as I am working around the area for several months. The site is very well laid out and maintained.
The facilities are perfect for my needs and Steve has been most helpful and accommodating. If your visit is for a few days, or much longer in my case, I can wholeheartedly recommend this site.

This campsite is an absolute gem. All amenities are clean and tidy. New laundry room is very good. Very well kept site. Owner steve can't do enough to help you.
Excellent site to just come relax. Plenty of space and the pub across road is only a few steps away.

We have just come back from a 3 night stay at The Hawthorn and it is a wonderful little place to stay.
Steve the owner is very welcoming and can't do enough for you.
All the pitches are hardstanding making it an all year stopover.
Looking forward to staying here again

What a discovery! We booked in order to spend a few days in lovely Manchester.
We are a middle-aged couple and had no children with us.
The site is at present small and in some respects is a 'work in progress'. But don't let this put you off! Each pitch had hard standing, EHU and a water tap (with great pressure!) in easy reach. But also, each pitch seems to have a picnic table! How lovely! The pitches are so situated that even if the site were full, you would not feel 'on top' of your neighbours.
The Ladies facilities have been completed and are really lovely. The men's is fine but still 'in progress' and Steve indicated this would be completed to the same high standard as the Ladies in the near future.
Apart from the site being a little gem, the diamonds are the hosts, Steve and Julie. What a great couple! Welcoming, cheerful, endlessly obliging, and really care about their business and their guests. We wish them every possible success.
You can get into Manchester very easily by the Metrolink from Oldham, by the way.
This site is secure, welcoming, quiet, well-equipped, and perfect for a few days visiting the area. Though listed as an 'overnight Stop' one could happily spend a week here.
Well done, Julie and Steve!

Very secure site, will definitely return an recommend. Well done Steve an Julie.

Hello, if you are looking for a Secure and Safe site then this is the one for you. We stayed there from the 29th of December to the 31st of December 2014 and would recommend this site to anyone.
Steve the owner was there when we arrived to help us unhook the car from the Motor home and helped us get some water as all the pipes were frozen from the snow they had had there. Found our pitch and enjoyed three days visiting our family nearby. This site was very convenient for both Oldham and Mossley where our family live. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Steve and we hope to go back there very soon.
All the best for 2015 Steve and Julie from Georgina and Philip.

Having spent Xmas at The Hawthorne, I think it's about time I actually got round to doing a review. This was my third stay at The Hawthorne, and it will certainly not be my last. I initially found the site on here, and was certainly sceptical about a 'Campsite' in the middle of Glodwick. ! I am originally from the area and didn't think it possible. However, after reading reviews, I decided to give it a go.
I wanted to visit family and not have to leave the dogs at home with someone else, so having 'Madge' the elderly motorhome made this possible.
What a fantastic little site. You wouldn't know you were in the middle of Oldham, and what makes it extra special are the owners Steve and Julie. Great welcome (and still so on return journeys) and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay the best possible. They always make my visiting parents welcome also.
I have stayed on 3 of the 5 pitches so far, and all are level and with good space around. There are picnic benches at each pitch which made it easier for family and friends to visit, and nice to sit out in the warmer evenings - and also useful for attaching the dogs to!
Steve has worked really hard upgrading the facilities, and I wish I had a shower like it at home. Even over the Xmas period, they were clean and warm, and lacking nothing.
The dogs have a great play area on the common behind the site, which is accessed by a lockable gate. Perhaps not so great for children, but the dogs love it.
The site is secure, and as a lone female, I had no issues about security or people who shouldn't be, accessing the site.
As for eating out, I can only comment on the Chinese chippy up the road, but the fish and chips are great! As I'm there visiting family, I ususally end up going to their house to eat, but there are plenty of places locally to shop and eat.
On two of the three occasions, I have ended up needing Steve's help with Madge - especially leaving this Xmas in the snow, and having to get a jump start, but he helps without even thinking about it. A rare thing these days.
Two truly fantastic owners on a brilliant site. Don't all rush there at once, as I will be booking again in the near future.

We stayed here for one night to test out our 'new' campervan. It is a small site but easy access, not far off the motorway and hard-standing with hook-ups etc. Not a particularly picturesque location but you don't notice that once on site. Bathroom/toilet facilities are heated and seem good as other people have commented. We ordered online from the Indian takeaway near by and it was excellent, they delivered to the site. The pub opposite is a fairly basic but cosy local - it is changing hands at the end of the year however. They don't do food but that's not an issue with the choice of takeaways within a mile (pizza, chinese, indian, fish and chips, kebab!). The site owner was very helpful in jump-starting us when we had a flat battery in the morning (our own mistake!). £12. 50 for the night if you're not using electric
