Just spent 4 nights at this site, 6 of us in 3 tents on a well maintained field with extensive views of Snowdonia and Cardigan bay. Considering it was a Bank Holiday Monday, the site was not full or over busy. Locally there are shops and supermarkets and a host of 'touristy' things to see and do just a short drive from the site.

I found the site to be lacking information such as a local map free wifi and the fact that the wash room gets locked at 9PM. Even a bus timetable would have been nice. Just the usual stuff you'd find on many other camp site walls.

The field is serviced by ONE water tap so it's worthy to note that you may need a water container. My personal dislike was carrying washing up pots 150 metres through the caravans to the wash room and laundry. Electric supply is spot on and powered lighting and cooking without tripping or fading. Barbecues are allowed.

On the whole an exceptionally active break, only using the site in the evenings for a meal and get together for 'Sundowners' A hassle free site which I would visit again.

Just spent 3 days at Mynydd Du Caravan Park. Really good site. Clean. Well set out. Great views.

Good for motor homes, caravans and camping. Toilet blocks are clean and well up to date. Easy walk into Criccieth by road or coast.

Only slight problem is they didn't tell us they had free wifi but hayho. Well worth a stay. Will return again

One of the nicest caravan/camping sites my family and I have been to. If you like views of the sea or views of mountains, or both then this site is a no brainer.

The showers and toilets are the cleanest I have ever used on such a site. There are also plenty of electricity and a drinking water points, along with a playground area for children.

There are no pubs on the site which is fantastic so one doesn't have to put up with that type of commotion.

Criccieth is about a mile walk and Porthmadog is nearby with a large Tesco, Aldi and Lidle at hand along with camping shops for all your camping needs. Beddgelert is about 6 miles from the site and you can view Mount Snowdon from two different roads leading out of that very beautiful village.

I can't praise this site any higher as it is superb, however.

When we arrived it was 8. 30pm and asked if there was any room. After being told that there was we paid for 4 nights. We liked the place so much that after our 4th night we decided we wanted to stay for another 3, but were told that we should have left the site by 11am, which wasn't mentioned to us before hand.

We were given ''another office'' telephone number to phone to see if we could stay for a few more nights which I thought was rather odd. So as I stood outside the site office and called the number for the 'other office', the phone at the site office rang and stopped when I hung up. I found that rather strange as I would have expected the people in the site office to answer their phone that I could hear ringing (maybe I am missing something).

My wife and I felt a little hurt by this treatment. If the site had been fully booked, all they had to do was say instead of being told we had to leave, we would have happily accepted that instead of the way we were treated at the end of our abrupt end to our otherwise perfect holiday.

This is why we can't give this site a 10 out of 10, a real pity. We are unsure now if we want to go back there again for the reasons stated.

This was our first visit and first impressions were great. Views from all areas of the tent field are stunning, we chose to pitch in the centre of the field as were were in a group but for campers wanting more privacy there is plenty of room to pitch around the perimeter.

With the spectacular views of the mountains and sea from different points around the site you really feel as though you've got away from it all, however access to Criccieth and Porthmadog with an Aldi, Lidl and Tesco is only a 5 minute (if that!) drive from site. Free wi-fi is also available.

The only negative points we found relate to the toilet/shower block. This is at the end of the site where the caravans are - so the campers without toilet facilities have to walk the furthest. Can be a bit of a pain with small children - especially in the middle of the night! There were no mops provided to clean the shower floors after use so they got pretty mucky throughout the day and the shower water was very hot!

Aside from this, we were really impressed with this relaxed, friendly and well maintained site which we will certainly be visiting again.

Lovely large partially sloping well kept field with plenty of electric hook ups. Although those in middle of field may be a bit exposed.

Toilet block is near entrance to the site, which is a bit of a hike if you`re pitched at far side of camping field! Toilets were reasonably clean and cleaner still if people used toilet brush beside toilet! The showers were free and hot. There was a hair dryer for 50p but was broken when we were there.

Site was quiet when we visited, and although there appeared to be a large number of seasonal caravans on site some were unoccupied.

Plenty to see and do, beach not far at Criccieth, although it is shingle/rocky, best beaches at Black Rock Sands. We went on steam train to Beddgelert, spent the afternoon there and caught 5. 30 train back. A lovely day out, especially if sunny!

Just returned home from a 4 night stay here,

the camping field was quiet and was told to pitch up anywhere

very clean peaceful site and the views, well that's what makes this place special.

The area itself is ideally located for site seeing, the walk into cricceth is around half an hour,

I just wish that they had put the toilet and shower block in the middle of the site, because in the middle of the night it is a bit of a trek, this is not a negative just a bug bare for us.

The price of our pitch £20 with electric outstanding value. Deffo return

This is a lovely site and although the majority of tourers there are seasonal there are a few spaces for caravans. The pitch we were given was quite small and extremely exposed. You WILL need awning straps for this site as it is an extremely windy site even without the gales that we had. It was exterme weather whilst we were there with extreme wind and rain and as long as you can sleep through this you will be fine.

The showers are cleaned daily by an outside company and there is no access to these dependant on when they come. Some times its tea time so can be a difficult time for people coming home from the beach/walking etc.

There is a disabled shower toilet which would be ideal for families but when we asked we were refused entry to it even though we explained that my 6 yr old was actually scared of the showers as they were so hot. They do get extremely hot. There are no mops etc. So they do get very mucky very quickly.

On our final day they 'ran out' of water and so a cold shower was had, this was at 9am! There is a notice saying all children under 13 must be accompanied to showers but this is not enforced and on a couple of occasions I spoke to 'young' girls throwing wet toilet tissues around the shower/toilet block.

The play area is in the camping field. Children are no allowed to play by their caravans at all.

Each touring pitch has its own water, waste and electric which is great BUT the pitch we had only just managed to fit on our caravan and awning. Literally. There were banks either side so it is restricted.

The views are beautiful and you can see Harlech Castle which is amazing when it is lit up by the setting sun. A gorgeous area and a lovely campsite but you need to be prepared for the wind!

Just returned from a camping break at this site - our first time here. Lovely location, and beautifully kept park. What views -breath taking!

Spacious camping field, free shower facilities 24hrs a day on a reasonably priced site-what a change, and contract cleaners come every day (sometimes twice). Noticed from previous reviews about soap dispensers in the shower block - nice to see the owners take note of comments and have had them put in, also a small freezer for ice packs.

Great for children - plenty of room to run around and play. Very relaxed atmosphere on the site we met some lovely people who return year on year.

Overall a very pleasurable break and will definitely return.

We had a fully serviced pitch - luxury so didn't need to enter the facilities on site but they looked clean and modern from the outside! Free Wifi was really useful for us.

Blink and you'll miss the site entrance especially from Porthmadog but once you know where it is it is easy to get to and no awkward turn to perform.

The pitches can be on the small side depending on the size of your unit but we managed a large porch awning and the car on the hardstand but you can park on the grass on some pitches or across the front if you have a full size awning and a long caravan.

Nice slate chippings kept everything clean and tidy for a wet week in Wales.

The recycling facilities are fabulous - some of the best we've seen. Didn't use the children's play area as our little one was content with talking to the cows and sheep surrounding the site.

Criccieth is an easy footpath walk away. Gorgeous part of the world We'll be back!

On arrival at this site, we were initially a bit dissapointed with the lack of information given by the site wardens, however when we pitched we were in awe of the views from the pitch that we were allocated.

Struggled a bit putting up the awning as this is quite a windy site, ( storm strap a must, we had to go out and buy one) but that is in no way a reason not to visit.

A few niggles were kids not allowed in shower blocks on their own if under 13 and should be supervised in the playground if under 12 and finally no soap dispensers in the washroom.

Overall would recommend this site to others but would probably try elsewhere if we were visiting the area again.
