Really loved this site! Extremely reasonably priced considering the extortionate amount charged by some places in the area! Loved the superb views to snowdonia national park behind, and the gorgeous views over the bay in front. 5 minute drive to Criccieth beach which is lovely, sandy and some rock pools too which the kids loved.
Quiet site, toilets and showers brand new and spotless, free showers, 50p to use the hairdryer and very nice washing up area with three sinks, clothes washing machine and dryer.
It's a little exposed so be prepared for some winds but just be smart about where you pitch, we found the hedge on the side nearest the sea offered the best shelter. Wasn't gale force the whole time, but was bad at night.
The lovely couple who look after the site are very kind, and drive round to check all is well. We went for a walk around the site and found a little path leading through the fields to a fishing pool, and on the way back we had to scramble across a stream and up a bank, scoffing blackberries from the hedge en route!
Loved the Welsh Heritage Railway which was 10 mins down the road in porthmadog, £15 for the whole family included two train rides, a trip to the engine shed where the kids get to sit in real train cabs and press buttons/pull levers, a must for any little Thomas fan!
Our son and daughter loved it! Would recommend to anyone, it's gorgeous here!

Stayed for 7 nights at this site with its breathtaking views. I would recommend this site for the views and the pitches all have an excellent view of the sea and mountains.
They were fully serviced so take drainage pipes so that you don't have to drain the waste container. Pitches were level, all gravel.
The toilets were cleaned once a day by local cleaning contractors usually midday. The toilets and showers did become dirty by night time and in the morning as some people clearly do not clean after themselves. The showers were piping hot (too hot sometimes for the children) and were fixed in a way that most of the water missed the shower area but they were powerful. There is no soap in the toilets which was a pain.
The site itself was clean and quiet, small play area for children, big field though to play around.
Wardens present but not sure what they do as we didn't seem them around very much.
Walk to Criccieth in around 30 minutes.
Weather was kind to us when we stayed, mostly dry, little wind.
I would recommend this site to others and would return definitely.

Just returned from Mynydd Du caravan site. We stayed for 4 nights in a trailer tent, lovely site, beautiful views, clean toilets & showers,
only down side was there is only just this one toilet block on site. We asked why this was & was told the council would not allow them to build more.
The children's play area is small but then they have the whole site to play in.
Tesco, Lidel, Aldi are close by but you do need transport to get to them. In Porthmadog we found Spooners resteraunt/bar good value for an evening meal, as was the Indian restaurant in Cricceith.
We will be visiting the area again. A walkers & train buffs dream area.

Great facilities, very clean and tidy. Running water is located around the campsite for tents, etc. Showers are hot and open 24 hours.
The camp site is a little bit out of the way but not to bad if you have a car.
Porthmadog is around 15 minutes drive. Surrounding scenery is amazing as the site is located on the edge of Snowdonia national park.
Criccieth itself is quite small but there is a small seafront and a couple of shops which are about a ten minute walk away from the site.
The staff are very helpful and frendly and I think they live on the site themselves.

Visited this site and we were going to stay for 10 nights.
However we could only manage one night.
Upon our arrival we could not contact the owner (we rang over 20 times and left messages, but to no avail) so did not know where to pitch.
Once we eventually spoke to someone (after 35 mins}, he allocated our pitch.
The pitch was the smallest pitch I have ever stayed on. Once the van was on, there was only room for either the car or the awning, not both. You could not park your car on the road in front, as it was too narrow and the next van was in front of. From every view was another caravan.
In my opinion, this campsite is on a brilliant elevation, however they have put too many pitches on. Leaving it too overcrowded and not an enjoyable experience.

This is a pleasant site, stayed in our tent for 4 nights here,
showers/toilets are too far away from camping field, got to walk through touring area to get to them. Nice clean showers and toilets, no soap dispensers at sinks though.
There is a small play area for kids in the tent field. I found it a windy site, we had terrible winds, but had a nice time.
The site owner was nice, drove round the site twice a day to make sure things were ok.
I would not go again due to the winds.

This campsite has the most beautiful views toward the bay of Harlech and Snowdonia National Park. Excellent place for beauty.
Approx 1 mile from the Village of Cricieth and 3 miles from Portmadog.
Good access to main road far enough distance to be away from traffic noise.
Pity the Toilet and washing block was not closer to the touring field.
Very pet friendly, especially well behaved dogs and when owners clean up after them.
We have used this campsite on many occasions and enjoyed our stay every visit.
Will always use this site during our stay in North wales.

Camped for 3 nights Whit week, with another family, who have never camped.
When we booked, it sounded like they were quite strict on where you pitched etc, but on arrival, it was very much a case of pitch where you like.
Nice big field, some of it sloping, with a small play area at the top of the field, and an area for ball games.
Water was off when we arrived, but that's not uncommon in that area of Wales. It was sorted the next day, but I believe it was off for most of the weekend.
Shower blocks were 2 new Chalet type buildings, and were professionally cleaned daily. Couldn't really fault them. Need a bit more water pressure, as you only got a trickle out of the shower at busy times.
My only criticism of the site, was that the toilet block is not visible from the camping field, so children had to be accompanied. Doors have a combination lock on too, which is a good idea.
Close to both Porthmadog and Criccieth, and their is a Tesco in Porthmadog.

Just visited this site and thought I'd add a few comments for anyone visiting with a tent.
This site has some breathtaking views over the Snowdonia mountain range and on a clear day you can see for miles.
The site has a practically brand new toilet block with three free showers, about five toilets and some urinals. The kitchens sinks are also here with a washing machine and a dryer. The only downside it's a long walk from the tent field which is the other end of the site closer to the caravan pitches which already have these facilities. If you have any urgency this might be a problem.
The only other negative thoughts, it doesn't have a freezer for cooler blocks so you would need an electric hook up to keep your food cold and half the field is on a slope so you may end up in the middle of the field in peak times.
Otherwise a nice stay.

Nice clean and tidy site with beautiful views.
Camping field mowed beautifully and relatively flat with water and EHU’s. The new shower, toilet and washrooms are modern, tidy and cleaned to a good standard daily by a professional cleaning contractor.
The welcome from the staff on arrival was warm and relaxed. The majority of the site consists of seasonal pitched touring caravans, the owners of which obviously take pride in their surroundings.
We stayed for five nights and experienced strong winds and rain during which the camping field drained well and it was not an issue. The site is exposed and therefore does catch the wind however this is more than made up for with the stunning scenery.
We would have no hesitation in returning for a weekend stay again during this summer.
