This was our first touring caravan experience for my husband and I and our 6 year old son. On arriving to the campsite the staff were very helpful and the toilet and showers blocks were very clean to a high standard.
The site was very child friendly with a safe park. We hardly saw our 6 year old and I don't usually let him out of my sight. There was a pleasant walk to Stourport through the rally field and was told you could walk to Brewdly the opposite way which we didn't do this time.
Our son loved the fair and the boat ride, he also went in the little pool by the smaller fair and park which he loved. We also had a meal at the local Weatherspoon pub in town which was very reasonable and brought some lovely barbeque food from the butchers in town.
There are lots of pubs a short drive away for meals out we had a cavery and drink in one for £15 for all three of us, as it was in the week we got some good deals eating out. We loved it so much we have booked again to go back at end of the main summer holidays

My Partner, myself and my two boys recently visited this site. The toilets are basic and could be much cleaner. The kitchen facilities needed a helping hand prior to washing up. The bins need to be emptied regular. The actual pitches could do with being more even. I would recommend this site to young people (older teenagers) certainly not for families with young children or anyone expecting peace, quiet and tranquillity. Although the site does have a small play area for young children the noise of other campers kept my children awake. The bar and café opposite have very good facilities and Porthmadog nearby make it easy for shopping. It would be nice to see the Wardens to request that the noise be dealt with from the rowdy campers. In all a very expensive site with the luxury(?) of all night music, but excellent scenery. Would I go again I doubt it :(

Turned up early evening, was accommodated no problem. Advised not to pitch in the dips, but goes without saying. Even though not packed, still had to be choosy where to pitch due to dips or campers not pitching in a more considerate manner.
Hammering pegs in was nightmare, there was concrete 2/3 inches below surface! The roads could do with resurfacing due to pot holes which collect the rain.
Shower block and toilets were better than expected but could do with cleaning more often than between 12 - 2. Has electric for hairdryers etc.
Paths were dark, could recommend some lamps round the site. Rain collected in pools round tents, not good.
Location good. Yes I would return but only with titanium tent pegs.

Visited this site in June 2012 and me and my wife where very impressed with the hospitality of the camp wardens Neville and Lyz when we arrived. Even though the site was a little bit waterlogged from the rain that fell they where very helpful and caring. As for facility's on the camp the toilets and shower blocks where very clean and the camp was free of any rubbish. The only downside to the site was other campers being rather noisy and the wardens had to tell them numerous times about there noise. I highly recommend this site for its views and lovely beach. Will visit again in the future.

Good and bad thoughts on this site:
Location - excellent - next to the beach behind the dunes with own path direct to the beach
Facilities - perfectly good (if basic) toilet and shower facilities. Bar and shop across the road from the main entrance - low key and quite pleasant if a little strange.
Pitches - some good, some bad - all grass which suffer with large pools of standing water if it rains - which it does in Wales.
Mobile signal - poor which was great because we were offline for two weeks
I did love the site for the location and basic-ness but and its a big but:
Downsides:
It is expensive for what you get - little more than a large field with a couple of toilets and a shower.
Rubbish not collected frequently enough from the bins - leading to massive piles of bin bags along side the wheelie bins which the seagulls then attack and then spread rubbish everywhere.
The site does not enforce the noise rules at all - and if you're unlucky like we were you'll have noise 24/7. The noise is worse at the weekends with large groups of people (not just teenagers - but the older ones as well).
The cesspit from the toilets overflowed twice while I was there leading to raw sewage flowing on the grass in the area next to play park.
A lot of the customers of the site (that we experienced) have no concept of tidying up their own rubbish when they leave, have no concept that other people might not want to listen to their music at full blast - or to their conversation / arguments at 2:30AM. I know this is a problem everywhere - but in my ten years in a van have never experienced anything remotely as bad as it was here.
Don't go unless you can make more noise than the other customers !

Arrived to a nice welcome, given advice where most sheltered and good for tents. Campsite very tidy and clean. Showers, and toilets spotless due to the excellent work of the 2 wardens. Washing machine and tumble dryer available at a small cost. Kitchen room for washing up and freezer to refreeze your ice block at no charge. Plenty of hot water and showers free of charge, at any time. Cafe and bar on site. A very short stroll to a stunning beach. No loud music after 11pm. Great chip shop just a 5min car drive away in the same village. Lots of big bins for rubbish, some for recycling others for food waste. Small play ground for the little ones which looked well maintained. This is a well run, clean tidy campsite and would return again.

Our first impression of the site on arrival was quite a good one. It seemed like a nice family run affair. We got shown to our pitches (us and 2 other families) which were all next to each other. After getting set up (and narrowly avoiding the rain) we explored the site and the beach. Access is direct from the site and the beach is of a good standard. The first downside to the site was when we realised that there were a group of youngsters who were insistent on playing their music excessively loud with lots of swearing and shouting thrown in there for good measure. Like previous reviews have said, there was nothing done by the wardens to prevent this. The shower block doesn't look like it has been changed from previous reviews either although the showers themselves were very good. As the weather wasn't brilliant during our stay we ventured up the road to the Haven site that's nearby to use their playing facilities for the kids which was very handy. Overall I think the families we went with made the holiday/site better than it would have been if we had gone by ourselves.

This site is lovely, right next to beach, fabulous views to all sides, handy for Portmadog, Snowdonia etc. Facilities are very good, plenty of adjustable showers, sinks etc, bar and games room on site, really cannot fault the site itself, unfortunately the same cannot be said for other campers using the site when we were there over the Bank holiday weekend. Staff constantly having to clean up mess left in shower areas - dirty tissues, chewing gum, rubbish etc left all over the place! Major issue with noisy campers - swearing, loud music etc made night times a misery. Although they were the minority they managed to ruin sleep for many until early hours of the morning. Warden needs to toughen up and enforce the rules which include no noise after 11pm. Camping is not cheap here and site rules promise a relaxing time so I really hope rules are enforced before this beautiful site is ruined by these obnoxious idiots.

We have visited this site on several occasions and every time we have lost at least 1 nights sleep through teenagers partying and playing loud music through most of the night, this happens especially at the weekend, this site is supposed to be family camping only. Apart from that the site is ok and might return out of peak season. Lovely beach, just a pity hooligans are allowed to ride their cars at high speeds on it. Wardens friendly and helpful

We stayed two nights at Black Rock Sands campsite during the school summer holidays. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and we were offered a choice of pitches anywhere in the middle section of the park.
The site is very picturesque and natural, bordered by cliffs on one side, sands dunes to the other, and trees and bushes around the site.
There was a nice little play area for the kids, and they also enjoyed making a den in one of the big bushes.
The site is a short walk from a lovely beach, just over the sand dunes, and we spent most of our full day there. We also went into Portmadog for lunch, where there are several pubs and cafes to choose from.
We were very impressed with the showers, which were clean and in good repair. It was nice that there was a hot and cold tap to allow you to set the temperature you liked, rather than the push button showers that are usually a bit cooler than I like.
Just next to the site is a shop/cafe, which we did not visit and a pub called Shenanigans. We did visit the pub, which was family friendly, and was OK, but a bit strange. The decor and furniture was a very odd mix of styles, and it all seemed a bit tired.
Overall we were very impressed by Black Rock Sands, and would definitely go again. Next time we might take the opportunity to visit nearby Portmerion, or have a trip on the Ffestiniog steam railway, which stops in Portmadog.
The only thing that spoilt our stay was the wind coming off the sea. I'm not sure how our tent stayed up on our second night. Hopefully next time we'll have a bit more luck with the weather.
