We stayed for the last May bank holiday.
We arrived on the Thursday and were very thankful we did as by Friday night they were really packing them in. Great location for a very big beach (if you don't mind all the cars and bikes on it I suppose) Greeting on arrival was friendly, lovely play area but not visible as its round the back of the toilet block so you need to be with them. Toilet block was nothing great, no soap provided which is a real bind when you have kids. Lots of noise into the evening.
All in all Ok if you are a group who can get there and pitch early, BUT not recommended for families with smaller children - too noisy and youths driving round and round the site.

Location, location, location. This site is great for this, and this is the reason we return here. The facilities are fine, appreciate the freezer in the dishwashing room to freeze your ice packs FOC. Found the showers and toilets fine, only downside is when they are closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon for cleaning you have to use the porta loos provided. Reliably informed by the OH that they were gross! Didnt even go to inspect!
As previous reviews have mentioned despite the David Bellamy conservation award on site I would have thought there would be more facilities for recyling.

Stayed at this lovely site at Easter, we had wind, rain, snow and sunshine. We still managed to really enjoy our stay. The site wasn't overcrowded, perhaps due to the weather. Toilets, showers and washing up area were all spotless. The owners were very helpful and pleasant. The area boasts the most stunning scenery and the beach is just behind the campsite. Our children loved it. Only criticism was the shop and bar on site was not open, which meant we had to drive to get to nearest shop or eatery. Will definitely be going back, again and again

I have visited this site since I was a child and have fond memories .
The site itself is situated in a great spot ,right next to a fantastic beach, the pitches are fairly level and the kids playground is safe.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
However the water supply is not best suited for motorhomes (i think there are 2 taps on the whole site) the taps are the type that have a wide nozzle that is difficult to connect to and you have to keep pressed down constantly.
Although the site has a David Bellamy conservation award it only has a facillity to recycle glass. The bins where full of paper, cans and cardboard (all going to landfill)
Also there were a lot of young crowds (20-28) milling/hanging around swigging from cans of beer and although not allowed, lighting campfires.
There was also alot of noise from sound systems well into the small hours -although to be fair it could have been coming from a beach party and not the campsite.
I felt that overall this was a youth camp rather than a family camp.
There is a cafe/bar across the road but the bar was not open and the cafe was very expensive and a bit run down.
Overall at £20 a night not sure if I wouuld go back again.

We stayed here over the August bank holiday with some friends in two tents. The site is well situated, right next to Black Rock beach. The pitches were of a good size, and were level. The toilet block was kept clean, hot water was plentiful and we never had to wait for a shower.A large plastic carrier bag is useful to put your dry clothes in when showering. The site was extremely busy, but most people were quiet after 11pm. The children's play area was a bit out of the way, but good none the less. Portmadog town has all the shops you need.On the whole it was a good experience, and the location really is what you are paying for. Would go back again.

A lovely site in a lovely location. we visited here after heavy rain, and although parts of the site were flooded, we managed to find a nice pitch. The facilities here are very good and clean, and the staff friendly. There is a bar across the road, but it doesn't look very inviting and wasn't open while I was there. The beach is just 30secs away and you have the sea lulling you to sleep at night.

We oten visit this site throughout the year We get greeted by a yery nice woman ( owner of the site) who actually lives onsite in a static caravan. The campsite is litrally next to the beach so when we want to take alot of stuff to the beach we can smply carry it there or drive. And is in walking distance if you forget the buckets and spades!

Stayed on this site friday to sunday. Fab location, just a walk over the sand dunes and you were on a lovely beach. The site was great, lots of showers and toilets and never a queue to use them. There is a laundrette and dishwashing facilities, water standpipes scattered all over the site. There is a little cafe and pub on site too which was a bit dingy, but served a purpose when it was chucking it down on the friday night! £12 per night for the pitch, which we thought was ok, no extras added on. Weather was great on the saturday and sunday, will deffo be going back soon.

I have stayed at this site before and found it okay midweek. However this trip was totally different, for a start the price has shot up - I was charged £17.00 for me and my 2 man tent to squeeze inbetween tons of other folks.
The toilets and showers were filthy and blocked, there was frequently no water. When I asked a staff member what they planned on doing the reply was "you can't go to the toilet for another couple of hours"
The site was hugely overcrowded and definitely not the families and mature couples that it advertised. There were numerous mini motos and similar being used on the site and late at night on the beach. Some other thoughtful campers were setting off fireworks late at night until the coastguard came calling!
Its a fantastic location which has been spoilt by poor site management and a decline in clientele.

We have been using this site for 3 yrs usually staying 2 or 3 times each year. The location has got to be one of the best in the country. However, the price has gone from high to not worth it and the condition of the showers has got worse. Its £10 per night more than a caravan club site and just does not compare. We love the site so find it a great shame, they are taking a lot of money and putting nothing back into the site. Its simple things, missing door locks, missing or not enough pegs to hang clothes, very often unclean, no paper etc. It needs proper cleaners in each day and some attention to detail. As there is just a simple play area and the shower block on site it's not a lot to ask for such a high pitch price. Just not willing to pay it anymore.
