Used the site as a convenient stopover, hadn't read the glowing reviews first. The number of seasonals also shows that it's a popular site, but it did not suit us. It was by far the most expensive site of our week in east England, yet lacked things we'd had on cheaper sites (like a hairdrier or TV room). The main issue is that we didn't enjoy sitting outside and we slept poorly, because of the A1 traffic: the noise was constant, loud and intrusive with HGVs thundering by all night. The pretty pond didn't compensate enough. We'll find a quieter stopover farther from the road next time.

We visited for 5 nights on the 16th July and as always we had a fabulous time. The wardens and assistant wardens are so friendly and helpful. The toilet blocks are spotless. The site itself is so beautifully kept, it is being maintained to such a high standard with touches that make it really special. The fishing is great allowing me as wife to chill while my hubbie fishes. Thank you so much for making our breaks so good.

We love this site and have stayed here several times. The pitches are massive - no problem for our 8. 5m unit and tow car! The pitches overlooking the lake are really beautiful, especially at sunset. Facilities are clean, well maintained and don't seem to get crowded. There is slight noise from the A1 but that is acceptable and muted by the high banks. It's worth it for the ease of access. The trains are only noticeable through the day, and even then it isn't earth-shaking or deafening. Overall, a great place to stay as a stop-over or for a longer stay to visit Newark and other places round about. Can't comment on child friendliness, as we are now 'free'. :-)

Just returned from a 4night stay at this wonderful site. Very efficient service from booking, arrival and departure. Massive pitches (choice of hard standing or grass). Wardens/assistants very friendly and welcoming, very hard working, but always time to chat without being overbearing.
Toilet blocks always nice and clean, showers unfortunately have the push button system, but this is not off putting at all. Plenty of nearby tourist attractions if you are wanting to tour around and about. Probably one of the most idyllic sites around. We will definitely re visit. Unfortunately can't comment as to if child friendly, as we are now 'Free'👏

A lovely welcoming site. Very handy for breaking a long journey, or as a base for touring the area. Right by the A1, it is easily accessed, but one is hardly aware of being alongside such a busy road because of the clever use of high bankings which shield the site completely. The pitches are large and well-gravelled and the whole site delightfully landscaped, with ponds of their own, and adjacent a large fishing area. For those with dogs there is immediate access to a good dog-walk. Facilities are excellently maintained, and the staff very pleasant. It was our first visit, but I am sure we will be calling in again.

Just spent 4 nights at this site for the first time and want be the last. Well kept site with friendly wardens very busy warden always out and about even at night. We decided to have our pitch near the reception so it was furthers away from the noise of the A1 we had no problem there, for the sound of the trains going past its not that bad you get used to it they don't run through the night so I cant understand why people complain about the noise. When I saw that there was only 3 toilets and 2 showers down at this end I thought it was going to be a problem but it wasn't never had to wait for either. I would say that it would be nice if they had a spray air freshener in the toilets not nice if you have to follow someone else in. We found some fantastic walks from 4 mile to 7 mile or you can go further. We will be returning to this site again no rush to leave either which was great

Just spent 3nights at this park. Very nice indeed, well kept grounds, good hard standing. Very clean showers, although only a couple in the ladies block, so in summer might be busy. Nice walks for the dogs.
Nothing bad to say. Will be going back again soon.
Went to eat at pub down the road, called the great northern in n, to be honest looked a bit dodgy, bit unloved. But when the food came, well it was great well worth the money. Give it a try.

Stayed here for 3 nights. What a super site - good shower block, super showers friendly staff with lovely little dog and talking parrot. Great layout round lake but we chose to be near the toilet block that was open (due to low season the block by the lake was closed) Although we were easy reach of the toilet block the noise from the busy road was loud and the fast trains noisy too. By the lake you are protected from the road noise by a big bank and the setting of some of the lodges (privately owned not for rent) is super - if you don't mind the noise. Newark is a neat town and interesting especially on market day. We bought some tasty bread there. No wifi on site here unfortunately but the cafe round the corner has it and so did the super pub Great Northern Inn we went to which was only a few mins away in the car and right next to the railway line (super fast trains go whooshing past here so that is why the train noise is so bad at the site cos of the speed). The food was excellent and only pub prices though it was like a restaurant and very pleasant staff. If not for the noise we would really recommend it but such a handy and pleasant site in all other respects.

WOW! We loved this site!
We arrived on Friday afternoon and were greeted warmly and politely. We found our own pitch in between the cabins and toilet block and was pleasantly surprised! You can hear the A1 but to be honest the noise either dies down or you just get used to it as the site is lovely and peaceful. The fishing lake is excellent and again quiet and picturesque. The toilet and shower blocks are clean, spacious and totally fit for use!
We cant wait to come back here again!

Situated at the side of the very busy A1 it is a picturesque well run site. There are 103 good sized pitches, two toilet blocks, several privately owned cabins and a good information room. We found the road noise very disturbing and difficulty getting showered until late evening as there are only 2 showers and 3 toilets in each block for each sex.
Because of this constant use and light weight too short shower curtains the floors were swimming in water which made dressing difficult without wetting your clothes.
We resorted to use our own facilities which made this like an expensive CL.
The small village is within walking distance and has a micro brewery, shop and service area in easy reach.
An American Diner is just up the A1 which appears very popular.
