What a lovely campsite! Well positioned pitches (with plenty of space for car and awning) The campsite itself is very pretty, lovely lakes and plenty of wildlife.
Although it is positioned near the busy A1 and a railway line, the noise was barely noticable (so don't let this deter you from experiencing this lovely little site).
The shower blocks and toilets were spotless - they are cleaned daily from 11.30-12.00. The wardens were extremely helpful and friendly, allowing us to pick our own pitch (as it wasn't busy) and even opening the shower for me (as I stupidly hadn't read the cleaning times!). They are a credit to the profession.
The dog walk adjacent to the site is great - our West Highland white, Angus, loved it!
Newark is about 10 mins drive away and well worth a visit. Also make sure you visit the onsite brewery for some crusader beer - it really hits the spot.

Lovely site in very pleasant surroundings. Very well maintained, very clean toilet/shower block, and very well laid out. Some traffic noise from the A1 but this was minimal and was probably worse as we chose a pitch at the far end near the fishing pond. Would definitely visit again.

A very clean level site . It is mostly hard standing, clean toilet blocks.the wardens are very helpfull. It has fishing lake on site and another one next door, it is close to the a1 and railway line but this did not bother us. There is a small brewery next door as well as a small shop, it was our first visit and we will return again !

A great site and very clean. And although we were a good walk away from the shower blocks, we enjoyed the walk and found other campers really nice. I dont think I have ever said 'good morning' to so many strangers.
The weather took a turn for the worse on the saturday night and we seemed to be praying that our friends awning would still be there in the morning, we hadnt put ours up.
It was a lovely weekend and I have to say the owners were exceptionally out of this world, keeping our friends arrival secret from us til they jumped out from beside their van.
We took a trip to the nearby Dolls museum, and although a few of our friends found it a bit scary, you would have to visit it yourself to believe that so many dolls fit in one house.
We will definitely go back to the campsite

On my way home I decided to stop for a few days and Milestone was very handy as I was travelling North on the A1. Just like all comments I found the site very clean and tidy. All the pitches were very large compared to some I have seen. The facilities very clean too, very nice, good place for relaxing and it is a fishermen paradise, ideal for overnight stop over on long journey.

Stayed for a week in February 2008.
Found staff very helpful, the site was well kept with good facilities (loos/showers) and excellent wide pitches with hardstanding.
We chose a pitch with a view of the duckpond (no wonder site has David Bellamy award) Although the A1 is just over a bank at the edge of the site there was little noise from it.
Good dogwalk - not a tatty afterthought.
If you don't fancy cooking try the nearby 'American Diner'.
Intend revisiting in the not too distant future.

Nice site layout, gravel pitches, level and well drained where we stayed.
Toilet facilities were spotless and modern, as well as warm!
Just stayed for 1 night. Not a great deal to do for the kids and the traffic noise from the A1 kept us awake.
Would be a good place to stay if you want to go fishing at the lakes next door, other than that I guess it would be OK as a midpoint stop when traveling down the A1.

We were pleasantly surprised to find the site quite full, despite it being the first week in November. The usual Caravan Club rules apply, and we drove around the site to find a suitable pitch. It is a large site with some holiday homes in situ; the area adjacent to the small lake was very popular as were the lovely landscaped hard-standings. We elected to pitch on a grass pitch, and after erecting our canopy we set off for a walk to explore the facilities.
The reception was helpful and there is a great little info shed nearby for local 'what's on' information. The showers and toilets were spotless, but worryingly small for such a large site. The water, chemical and waste disposals were well appointed too.
The traffic is close by, the A1 just the other side of the fence in places; but it wasn't a problem at our end of the site, although the newer pitches at the far end seemed to get more noise than we did.
The local area is nice, but we just wanted a peaceful weekend break and we found the site to be a pleasant place to stay. We took full advantahe of some welcome winter sun to sit outdoors and relax.
I would highly recommend the site to anyone travelling North to South (or vice versa), as it is ideally suited for a stop over on the A1.
A pleasant site with plenty of space

We visited Milestone Caravan Park in June. The toilets were very clean as was the site overall, bins were emptied regularly. The staff were helpful and friendly. Day ticket fishing was excellent, with a good variety of fish. Pitches were spacious, and well equipped with some hard standing and 16 amp electric hook ups. The village has a general store just outside the site and Newark is only a short drive away offering supermarkets and a market. We will be back. But will not visit the greasy spoon diner on the A1.

A lovely site - we were supposed to stay for one night on our way home from Cambridge. When we arrived the weather was glorious compared earlier in the week and we decided to stay an extra night. The wardens were friendly and very accommodating. The site, in our opinion, was well laid out. The small "lake" was lovely, full of lily pads and ducks and there were also rabbits which made appearances. Although quite close to the motor way the noise was minimal The only thing I would say is - there are two toilet/shower blocks on the site - and we were quite close to one of them, which only had two showers, the other was near the reception - I didn't envy those who were based at the far end of the site as it was quite a distance away from the facilities. The laundry facilities were excellent and not too expensive. A mobile fish and chip van came on site at approx 16h00 and stayed until 20h30 and an ice cream van also made a trip round the site. Would definitely visit again.
