We used this site as a stop over at the start of a weeks touring, the traffic noise was a bit intrusive to start with but seemed to fade in to the back ground. There is a very good dog walk just off site .The local village does not have a pub or any restaurants so if you want to eat and drink out you will need to drive to the nearest village 1 1/2 miles away. A very clean well looked after site with good friendly staff.

Very clean and well laid out site, with plenty of room per pitch. Toilet blocks kept very clean. Good location for Sherwood Forest. Bit closer to the A1 than I thought it was with road noise being quite constant, didn't help with breeze being quite strong, but overall very good site.

What a fantastic site, very clean nice showers and toilets,. Lovely American diner only 5 mins walkaway. Also 10 mins walk is a dolls museum. On a Saturday you can get fantastic fish chips on site dellicous. Yum yum. Feeding ducks recommended. Very peaceful and quiet site didnt have problem with traffic noise. Staff friendly. For 2 adults 2 children with hook up 19.50 a night - well worth it. Going again to visit the air museum only 40 min drive away.

Truly the best site we have ever visited with an amazing atmosphere plus so totally tranquil you would never guess you were right next to the A1 which means it is an obviously great choice if you are trying to break a long journey. Your only problem will be in leaving because you just won't want too. We found this beautiful (David Bellamy awarded ) site by accident a few weeks ago and have been back every week end since. Every facility you would wish for with spotless toilet blocks and showers, veg prep and laundry rooms plus caters for disabled people. The site itself has fishing in a pretty lake while next door is a massive fishing lake if that's your thing. The wardens here are unbelievably wonderful and friendly and will help you with any advice and have made this site honestly so attractive that you need to see for yourself because I would need pages to tell you everything so lovely about it all. I'm not very good with explaining myself so I will finish with both myself and husband (not easily pleased ha ha) totally love this campsite. Oops almost forgot but the dog loves it too and you can buy feed for the ducks and even hand feed Annie the pet goose whilst watching out for the varieties of birds everywhere

Judging by what other reviewers have said, this site must be improving all the time. It really is excellent. The whole place is green, beautiful and creatively landscaped around a small fishing lake. Apparently the carp are worth catching and the ducks are worth watching, although you can find duck free areas if you're allergic to them. Pitches are hard standing with a fine gravel surface that's immaculately clean, or grass. They're all easily accessible, as are the usual facilities a motor home requires. We even had good TV and mobile reception. Shower blocks are kept very clean and tidy by the wardens - and they were warm on a very chilly morning. This is a great stop-off on the way up or down country. The A1 is only a few hundred yards away. The site is shielded from most of the noise by a grassy bank. You'll notice the traffic at first but it's not too intrusive. The site doesn't have a shop, but a little village store is only about 100 yards away and they stock all the basics. (They didn't have The Times, but that's a very personal gripe). We'll happily use this site again.

We went to this site for a New Year Rally (sorry, not a UKCS one!) and were very impressed. From reading the previous reviews, it sounds as if it has grown a bit over the last couple of years as it's quite a large site with some very nice chalet homes on it as well. It is very attractively landscaped and well maintained and there is a walk round most of the site up on the bank around the edge. The pitches are large because they're designed to accommodate a vehicle, a caravan and an awning. You are aware of the traffic on the A1 at first but soon get used to it.
Our only complaints were that we were up at the far end in the diagonally opposite corner to the dog walk and the toilet/shower block was a bit of a hike. However, it was worth it when you got there - nice and warm, even though there was snow outside, and very clean and well maintained. There are two blocks, one at the entrance end and one about half way along the site.
Altogether a very nice site and we would definitely go again.

March 2005 Large site with level pitches for caravans, don't think they accept tents. Owners are extending the site and some work was in progress at the time of our visit. The site itself is quiet though there is traffic noise from the A1, depending on where your pitch is, it is attractive and there are lakes that I would assume are open for fishing and there are fishing lakes in the village too.
There is a dog walk nearby and a shop that sell pretty much everything. There is at least one pub within walking distance and a brewery next door that we were told will let you sample the ale when there is someone working there. Being near to the A1 it is ideal as a stop off to somewhere else or for a weekend relaxing but there is little in the area for a long stay unless you are into fishing.

June 2004 Very pretty site with good facilities. Good amenities for motorhomes too. Very pleasant and helpful management.
One drawback - traffic noise on some of the pitches close to the site entrance.

Aug, Sep, Dec 2003; Jan, Feb, Mar 2004 We have been to this site a number of times - in part because of its proximity to relations in Nottinghamshire.
Needless to say, we like the site - and have always been able to get a pitch, sometimes at very short notice (in spite of the site always seeming to be busy).
It is situated in a lovely village, with a traditional village shop in walking distance of the site. The A1 is close by, and you can hear some road noise, but not once you get inside your caravan. Also of interest to some is that the East Coast mainline is in sight of the site, allowing an opportunity for trainspotting!
Pitches are a good size, and level. Facilities are always clean and warm.

August 2002 My wife and I visit this site every year and have been doing so for the last 12 years. We generally stop for a week at least once a year during the Newark antique fair. For all you bargain hunters it's well worth a visit as it is the biggest in Europe. Over the last ten years the site has been enlarged and improved very tastfully. I have never had a bad year or had any reason to complain. When stopping on this site it's well worth visiting Lincon.
