This was our first visit to Goosewood York and would highly recommend it. On arrive you are taken to your pitch by the warden on duty.
Our pitch was hardstanding and proved hard work to get the awning pegs in but due to the high winds this proved to be required. Our nine year old loved the large play park where all the children met up.
The site is well laid out with plenty space in between the pitches. There is a small shop for basics, papers can be ordred. Not too far to drive to the park and ride into York, we found this to be the best way to visit York.
The only negative would be the toilet block, they could do with updating however plenty hot water and kept clean and tidy. There is so much to do in and around York that we couldn,t fit it all in.

Excellent site very nice wardens, very helpful. The facilities are excellent, very clean. I would recommend the swimming pool, very nice and warm. The fishing is excellent. The place is very quiet and peaceful. There are nice dog walks around the site. Wonderful place will go again.
There is a lovely well stocked shop on site with morning newspapers. There is also a wonderful play park for the children to play and be safe.

Have stayed at Goosewood with both my own touring caravan and a friend's motorhome several times. Pitches are mostly grass and level and ample space from each other to enjoy BBQ etc. Toilet blocks are clean although could do with updating soon. Playground is great for the kids. The Health Suite is a real bonus, especially with the outside hot tub - wow, and well priced considering max 8 people can go in. Additional bonus if you have a DOG - there is a lovely woodland which runs off the site and is great for dogs to have a run off the lead - with plenty of dog bins around. Wardens are lovely, showing you to your site every time and making sure you are ok. Planning on going again many more times :)

We stayed at this lovely site in February 2010 it was a great site the staff were so friendly & helpful. The kids loved the play area. The toilets were clean & presentable. The site is well located for easy access to wonderful York city.
The only problem with the site is the lack of country walks directly from site as we are very keen walkers. The shop on site is quite basic but does stock the essentials. Would stay there again.

Fantastic park we were right next to the park and even though it was always full of kids it was not noisy. Good size and plenty to do. There is an indoor play barn my kids (14, 12 & 9) took one look and didn't go back in! The fishing lake is great even for first timers like my 9yr old who caught his first fish
The toilets were clean and spacious as was the rest of the park
The shop was well stocked and the staff were very helpful and friendly
The only bad point was the cost for 4nights it was £136 they charged for every thing from awnings to pets, to how many children you have etc:

This is our second summer at this park and we still love it. We asked for B36 when booking as it over looked the fishing lake with fountain as I had seen how huge the pitch was on our first visit, and was not disappointed.
After been shown to our pitch the kids played all day in the park which is fantastic for our 10 and 12 year olds. There is a zip line and table tennis here as well.
The toilets are ok but the new owners are going to improve them, saying that, the price has jumped up a lot since last year, £32 a night for 2 adults 2 kids awning and dog is the most I have ever paid!
The spa on site is a must you pay £15 for up to 8 people and you get 45mins. There is a exercise bike, a stepper and a tread mill if you feel energetic. But we loved the spa pool with jets to swim against and the out side hot tub. There is also a sauna. The warden shows you how to use everything then leaves you to it. The kids loved it and your not overlooked at all.
The site is not too far from York and there's a huge Tesco's and shopping area with cinema and two for one pub just off the round about on the ring road. Also the park and ride for rawcliff bar was just off the A19 round about. We found this the best way into York.
You are given all the local info when you arrive. With maps and this was very helpful.
We will still return soon as we love this site.

Goosewood is a nicely sized site and not too large. Level pitches which are large and spacious, enough room for the unit, car and place to sit out. The play park is fantastic, the best we have seen on a camp site and the children loved it. They were asked to return to their caravans etc at about 9pm.
However, this same rule did not apply to the adults! We were allocated a pitch opposite a caravan and motorhome there together and we were plagued with noise and music for most of the night. Walking around the site, there were one or two other groups of people like this too and it really spoils your evening. We are not killjoys, but do not wish to listen to other people's music at full blast! It just seemed odd that the children were all stopped from playing when in fact thay made much less noise on the park!
Shower blocks and toilets were adequate, but not the most luxurious.
No tents allowed on this site, which whilst we use a motorhome, seemed a bit of a shame. Lots of caravans there for the season by the looks of it and some log cabins by the pond.
There was also a large indoors games room which would have been useful if the weather was bad, lots of arcade games.
We will give this site another chance and hope we don't have the same problem. It is a nice site, with a lake and ducks etc and some good dog walks. Lots of good points, but the wardens really need to keep an eye on noise levels.
Our advice would be to give it a go - and cross your fingers that you have considerate neighbours!

Just returned from a three night break at Goosewood, went on recommendation from someone I knew a couple of years ago. Was a bit shocked to be handed a Flower of May receipt when we arrived as any previous experience we've had with this group to be perfectly honest wasn't great but hey ho. Anyway apparently Flower of May bought the site in November of last year and have plans to further improve the facilities and surroundings. My misgivings anyway turned out to be completely unfounded !
When we rang to book we advised that there would only be the two of us and was asked if we would like a quiet pitch ( a really appreciated question )to which we requested just that. On arrival we were allocated pitch A13 which was a lovely quiet pitch backing onto fields with sheep in them ( sheep not quiet but you can't tell sheep it's after eleven and they've to keep the noise down can you? LOL!) We were really appreciative of this pitch because the children's play area ( which must be fab for families ) was very noisy especially on Saturday evening, but that said the play park closed anyway at 9.00pm so I wouldn't imagine it would be a bother to anyone but better away from it if you feel it would bother you.
The park has very strict policies around water conservation and they absolutely forbid you to wash your car or caravan on site again only a problem if like us your pitch is under the trees and everything and I mean everything from the caravan to the water hog and EHU got covered in sap, don't opt for this pitch if you are staying longer than a couple of nights or use an awning as I can't imagine the damage this would cause ! I did think the cost was a little excessive at 20.00 per night as there wasn't anything really to justify this cost as in terms of facilities really there weren't any.
The toilets and showers were always clean and we never struggled to get a shower although in total there are only 6 each for ladies and gents over two blocks. I could imagine though if the site has 100 pitches this may not be the case if the site is full.
There is a very small health suite on park which fits into a lodge style building and apparently has a swimming pool and hot tub inside and can be hired for 15. 00 for 45 mins - never did establish if this is per person or not and there is no way you can take a look inside as the lodge is on a secure gate which cannot be opened unless you have. There is also a very small shop on park (just an extension of reception) which sells the basics and you can order a Sunday newspaper if required, there does seem to be some inconsistency regarding the use of cards in the shop though as this was a question I asked when booking did I need to carry cash or were cards accepted and was told not to worry cards were fine. In the shop however we were told on the first occasion that minimum spend was £10.00 to use card and then the time after £20.00 Might be an idea to have cash as no ATM's in local vicinity nearest village about 3.5 miles away and no ATM there either although a Tesco Express who did cash back.
Park quite isolated and nothing to do except the lovely walks in the surrounding woods and lanes and if you're lucky like we were with the weather sit and enjoy the peace and the sunshine!
A final word of thanks to the very friendly wardens who were always chatty and obviously responsible for the cleanliness of the park in general.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at this site, We went for the fishing which at £3.00 per day was good value, some good fish were caught but they are very wary and very hard to catch. Toilets and showers block were very clean and tidy, with free hot water. Small shop with few essentials and papers can be ordered the day before. Fish and chip van calls on Saturday at about 6.15p.M. They are reasonable priced and cooked to order. Pitches were mixture of hard standing and grass and seemed very level. Nice big play area for the kids and a small play barn with pool tables and games machines. Motorhome drainage points and water hoses available. Loads of ducks so take some bread and be prepared.

Just got back from goosewood our first visit to this lovely site, after reading some reviews on here we were a little sceptical. Our pitch was to the back near fishing lake on arrival we were sited by staff and found the hard standing was huge and our awning would struggle to go through the pavers but the member of staff went and got some blocks.
Shop on site small but well stocked. The toilets near the park are a bit dated but clean. The main shower block was spotless with free showers. Some brilliant walks around the site. The lake was very busy with it being bank holiday but provided good good fishing and very cheap at £3 per day.
Fish and chip van came on site at 6pm on the Saturday and was doing a roaring trade.
The site is been improved all the time by the new owners and in a few weeks a new reception area and shop wil be open. This without doubt is the most friendliest and best site we have visited ,we will definitely be going back
