Got a late booking for the bank holiday weekend and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived on the friday tea time to see how good the facilities were. The staff couldn't have been more helpful on check in and helped me position the caravan. The park for the kids was the best I've seen and with plenty of young families they were entertained all weekend. Showers were great, toilets very clean ! All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. We left early on the monday and the wardens even hitched the caravan on for me.

Absolutely wonderful site! Beautifully kept with a personal touch, the warden led us to our pitch, the grass was immaculate and perfectly level. Really pretty lake and woodland walks. The local area was fantastic, in 2 days we managed to visit York, Whitby, Scarborough and Eden Camp. (well worth a vist - fantastic!) The childrens play area was great and the little shop was well equipped. The only down side were the toilets and showers, they were spotlessly clean but a little old fashioned. The site had a lovely comfortable feel to it, it was a wonderful weekend and we will definitely return to Goosewood. The Rose and Crown Pub restaurant a few miles away was exquisite and the Geese on the field behind our caravan were lovely! Highly recommended!

The setting of this site is great. Very helpful staff on arrival. Large independant gravelled hardstanding for each van with plentifull space for van, full awning and car. Our space overlooked the lake and the very spacious playing field for the kids. There are lots of wood chalets some of which have outside hot tubs which surround the lake. The toilet blocks are cleaned at least twice daily.
We had three totally different days. The first was very windy, the second day we had six inches of snow and the third was absolutely beautiful. Regardless each one was as enjoyable as the other. Fishing allowed on the lake at a cost. There is a private family leisure room which has a small swimming pool, sauna, gym and outdoor hot tub for £15 for a family of four for 45 minutes. The Ponderosa has food and entertainment and is only a 15 minute walk away or they do offer a free taxi service to this bar. We will definitely go back to this site in the summer (if we can get on it) as we think this site deserves another visit just for the scenery alone. Never knew there were places like this so close to home.

Excellent site that offers relaxation and pampering. Most of the units there seemed to be seasonal and I can understand why some would be happy just to return here without touring around. We were pitched at the lower end of the site and that made for a wonderful view over the lake and ducks visiting for some bread. A lot a keen fishermen seemed to stay here, so I took this to mean the lake was kept well stocked, (if you're into that sort of thing.) It seemed all the pitches were hard standing but the ground looked to be very well drained. Because of where we were pitched it was quite a walk back up to the toilet block and showers that were situated near the entrance. These were kept to a very high standard and the water was nice and warm. The on-site shop was nicely stocked and you can order your daily papers. While we were there we HAD to try the 'health suite' and it would be such a waste to miss this. I went in with my 2 daughters, (15 and 10,) and we loved it! A small'ish pool, (about 15 foot,) with jacuzzi at one end and jets at the other so you can swim into the current as long as you want. A sauna and some work-out machinery. But the best for me was an outside hot tub. When I got in there I just didn't want to get out! All this for £10 for 45 mins - you can't go wrong. A really big bonus is its so private when you get in, although the hot tub is outside its positioned high with fencing so don't worry about anyone having a peek. Hubby didn't fancy trying it until he saw it.He can't wait to go back now! Its worth staying just to use it!
The park and ride was a good 10-15 min drive away so I wouldn't call it handy, but its there if you need it.
We went to the Rose and Crown pub in Sherrif on the forest and it was lovely, bit pricy, but worth it.
The site is open all year and I can see us 'nipping' back for the odd weekend over winter to enjoy what this place has to offer. Trust me, you'll love it!

Love it, Love it, Love it even in the wettest July, we woke one morning to find the awning flooded and the caravan surronded by a duck pond (which our daughter loved and spent many an hour feeding them loaves of bread) it was not the site's fault it was just the amount of rain that fell, though the staff did ask us if we wanted to move.
What a great site, excellant playing area for the kids, very clean and well kept, staff friendly and helpful.
Well worth paying £10 and using the leisure facilities, in close distance to the park and ride, we will deffo be back.

Spent 3 nights here in the August bank holiday and was very impressed. On arrival we were told where all the shops and takeaways etc were then shown to our pitch which was on grass but very level. Very clean and and with very nice surroundings. The park for the kids was excellent, too good, they kept running there all the time, but only 4 and 2 so had to follow. Toilets could do with a revamp, but were OK, better than a lot I have used in the past. There is a Leisure suite you can hire for your own use for 45mins for £10. Which included a small swimming pool, sauna, gym and outdoor hot tub. Which we used every day and was well worth it, wife wants to buy a hot tub now. (not going to happen). Overall would highly recommend and will probably go back ourselves next year. 9/10.

We stayed here for a long weekend, and enjoyed it despite mixed weather conditions!. Big play area for kids with some good equipment for all ages. Our toilet block was well kept, we were a little nearer to another but it had a push-button door lock to which we were not given a code. We loved the hour we bought for the hot tub/swimming pool, and was not bad value for 2 families. The only criticism was the siting of the caravans, they just seemed to be randomly plonked around the field, with some looking very close to others, and some too close to the play area. It would be better if hedges were planted to segregate the caravans a little.

We stayed in the parks Woodpecker Lodge. Lovely little lodge, everything you'll would need,Except tea towels. The single Bedrooms though, I don't think are suitable for adults, quite small! The staff are friendly and the site itself is very well cared for. My kids loved the play park and the fishing was really good. The health suite was great, can be hired for 45 mins for your exclusive use. The shop is very limited but 2 Tesco's are a 3 mile drive away, one open till 10pm the other 24 hour, except weekends. Don't expect to be able to walk anywhere, its very secluded. A Fish & Chip van visits the site twice weekly Thursday and Saturday I think. There is no on site pub, which is a shame, its all it needs to make it a perfect site, with the nearest being a 3 mile drive away its not ideal, Our friends teenagers were very bored at night, although Bowling and cinema a 10 min drive away. If its peace and quiet you want this is the site for you, if you've got teenagers who aren't easily amused, think again. Would definitely use the site again.

Just returned from this site, stayed for three nights for the end of may bank holiday at the cost of £26 per night and have mixed feelings about it. The park for the kids is great with plenty for them to go at, except they close the park at 9pm so the kids were a bit put out by this, as caravanning is for the kids as well as the adults. I think the pitch we were on was right under the trees next to the park and next to the in road, so traffic was passing at all times of the day and night. The pitches are level and paved for both the caravan the awning. The shower blocks in my view are in need of revamping as the small toilet block next to the park had two shower rooms which incorporated toilets and wash basins, which always had a pool of water inside the doorway each time visited. On the day of departure at about 10.30 the wardens do their rounds as to remind you that you must vacate the pitch by 12 noon, so there was quite a few people rushing round to get packed up in time. All in all though a well presented site, well kept grounds, but in my view I don't think this site is worth spending £26 per night on.

Great Site. Toilets and showers were kept very clean and plenty of hot water. Play area was excellent as was the games room and there was an area for playing football etc. Plenty of friends for my children aged 10 and 13 to play with. We enjoyed booking the health suite for a 45 minute session especially the hot tub outside. Wardens were very friendly and recommended a very nice pub called the White Bear for dinner. The site is very convenient for York and the park and ride is only a short drive. Well worth a visit was Whitby which was about a 45 minute drive. Also close is Waterworld with slides and wave machine, bowling, cinema, restaurants and shops including a large Tesco. Would definitely go back again and there is so much to do in this area.
