Great site. In February the ground was very wet and very soggy and even though there is hard standing you have to drive across the grass to get to them, I had to be towed off by the little tractor they have. We had twin three year old girls with us and they enjoyed the playground very much, also the bathroom is a godsend if you have young children (£1.00 extra). Was very disappointed that the Health Suite was not open until April (not very clear on there website). Friendly, helpful staff, would use again.

21st April 2003 This site is lovely - so peaceful. It is surrounded by trees and there are plenty of birds and other wildlife around. The amount of trees did mean that it was shady in parts.

Fantastic site! Visited this site for one night and loved it so much we're going back for a week in September. Our pitch was hard standing with an adjoining 'patio' area. Great play park for children (more like an adventure course) plus The Barn which had pool table etc for older ones. The staff were all very friendly. The toilets were fine- not crowded and always had hot water. The best feature was the fitness area. For £10 our family had private use of the exercise machines, the large jacuzzi pool, the outdoor, private hot tub and sauna for 50 minutes. A great relaxing time at the end of two weeks touring Scotland. Lots to see in York and this site is close to the park and ride, whilst being in a very pretty area.

This site is beautiful. The first thing we noticed was the fantastic play area for the kids (and big kids!). We were situated right next to the play area, but by 9.00pm the wardens close the park so it is relatively quiet. The facilities on park are brilliant, toilets are clean, plenty of water taps. If you enjoy fishing the lake is brilliant. We decided to hire the sauna/jacuzzi for 45 minutes and this was fantastic. There were 7 of us so we had sole use. Definitely worth a go. You can catch the park and ride into York from Monks Cross Shopping Centre which is only a 10 minute drive away. Would definitely stay again.

EXCELLENT! We visited this site for 4 nights in august with our 8yr old son. The wardens were very helpful helping us position the caravan on our pitch and gave us loads of helpful tips as we are new to caravanning. The pitch was excellent close to the childrens play area and playing field which leads to a lovely fishing lake-very picturesque! the pitches are flat hardstanding with a patio area. There are plenty of toilets and showers which are very clean and well looked after. The showers have adjustable temperature controls and are constant (not the push button type that stop when you're in the middle of washing your hair!). There is a small but well stocked shop where you can order papers. The play area is kept clean and had lots to keep our 8yr busy he loved it. We had a couple of days fishing at the lake very relaxing-our son caught 12 fish in 2 days! The site has a health spa which you can have private use of its only £10 for 45mins it has a small pool, sauna and an outside hot tub FANTASTIC! Will go again and recommend it to anyone. A great family friendly site easy to find, well signposted, very friendly, loads of local info and close to supermarkets and park and ride to york.

A lot of hard work has gone into making this site a beautiful and inviting place to stay, we really didn't want to come home! The site is decked out with flowers and plants, all over the toilet block and big tubs of flowers between the caravans, a really nice touch. A lot of the pitches overlook the lake (with friendly ducks)and there's a nice walk through the ajoining wood. One toilet block had seperate shower rooms with own sink and toilet, much more private, and the showers are free! They must have had a facelift since previous reviews because they were certainaly above average, even had a heated towel rail. There are plenty for the kids to do, apart from the wood to explore there is a proper adventure playground and a games room with a pool table. Don't miss the spa, you have exclusive use of it for 45minutes and it includes a small swimming pool with wave machines and a sauna, gym and best of all a hot tub out on the patio. Really gorgeous! Yes the shop is small but has the essentials and Tesco is only 5 minutes drive away, a chip van visits the site on Thursdays. I couldn't find fault with this site, it was perfect in every way, you won't be dissopointed.

A lovely site enhanced by fantastic weather! Facilities abundant both on site and close by. Kids enjoyed the play park and plenty of space for them to explore safely. Toilet block clean although will probably need face lift in near future, perhaps with few more showers. Wardens extremely helpful and shop reasonably stocked. Didn't try the indoor small pool/sauna but would do if weather bad. Recommend pitch away from play area as lots of trees which can block the light. York just down road as is Retail Park with Tesco/Cinema and more. Will definitely go again.

July 2005 Beautiful site, plenty of activities for children, showers in need of a facelift, especially the 'chapel toilets' which were very close to our pitch but we decided against using. These toilets are ideal as they are self contained units but they are desperately in need of a facelift. Ideally situated for York and the surrounding areas. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

July 2005 Fantastic Peaceful site with a superb play area for the kids to play in all day long.
Situated around six miles outside York and with a retail park less than 5 minutes drive away with a massive Tesco the small shop on site becomes a bit redundant!
Definately a site I'd visit again and again and again - my first words on arrival was WOW!
Hard Standing Pitches, Well Kept toilet blocks, More water taps than you could shake a stick at! & 25 acre wood to explore and EXTREMELY Helpful staff!
The only thing missing on this site is a small village type pub which would have been ideal for a leisurely drink in the gorgous hot weather we've been enjoying!

April 2005 Visited as site listed in Best of British brochure. We stayed for the Mayday bank holiday, weather not good so site was muddy toilets were muddy too and not very clean although larger toilet block near entrance was better. Childrens play area was very muddy and in desperate need of an upgrade. Average sized pitch not much room for awning and car. Very little in the shop only bare essentials. OK for a family of fishermen, but not for us.
