September 2004 A very clean and tidy site, went for two days and had a good time, wardens helpful on arrival. Set well into the countryside - it`s very quiet. Toilets and showers clean and piping hot. Agree with other comments, no shop on site but not too far to find one. Kids adventure playground looked ok. Nice fishing lake for the serious fisherman. If visiting York would recommend the local park and ride very good, would go back for another stay.

July 2004 Found the site clean and very very quiet ,but thats what we wanted this year. We decided to try the cabins this year and leave the tent behind - well we would of had too anyway this site is only for trailer tents and caravans. They have a decent small fishing lake and reception and kids playing area,no real shop.
The current owner has been here about three years and according to a regular camper has let the place slide a bit to what it used to be like, he is adding cabins to the site (ex hoseasons cabins).
Overall its a nice quiet site ,the cabins are approx £500 a week and you cant book in till 4pm but the cleaners are waiting at 10 am sat morning for you to go!

august 03 Helpful, friendly wardens. Most pitches hard standing. Lovely lake with fishing permitted - probably for the more serious fishermen but the kids enjoyed their session! Loos have had loo of the year award and you can see why - someone cares, although the fixtures and fittings are looking a little tired now. New loo & shower block troubled by too much water on floor and trailing dust - also only 2 cubicles - could have been better thought out. Close enough to York but far enough into the countryside for peace & quiet. Well worth a visit.

July 2003 Friendly well kept site. We (2 adults & 2 children) stayed 2 nites, it cost £41.00. This was for a folding camper with elec hook up and awning. Then it cost £5.00 for one adult and one child to fish. The fishing was good and you aren't too far from your pitch. The staff really helpful. Adventure playground was a real hit with the kids but was quite muddy in parts. The showers were a bit on the grubby side. We felt it was expensive for what you got for your money. Not sure if we would go back.

April 2003 This was our first time in a caravan and our first time on this site. Stayed for a week and really enjoyed it , although that was probably due to the very good weather. Our 2 children, 12 & 9 made friends and enjoyed it also but we all felt there were not enough facilities for the price. Countryside very flat nearby, so its a drive for it to be interesting. Handy for YORK though and the 'park and ride' which is fairly close was excellent. Staff helpful and site very clean and tidy. Wouldn't like to have stayed in the log cabins though as it resembled a building site. Luckily this area was hidden by a wood.

We visited Goosewood 30/06 - 01/07/01 for the weekend. Total cost of a trailer tent, 2 adults and dog and 2 days fishing ..... £17 + £12 for 2 days fishing! The only hidden costs was 10p for a sink full of hot water to wash the dishes! This camp site is BRILLIANT! Very clean, very well looked after and GRASS like a billiard table. Trailer tents are welcome there now and the site staff and owners could not be more helpful. (We did not need to be bribed to fill the form in nicely!!!!! ) Camp site shop is basic but good enough until you get sorted out. If you are wanting to fish take your own bait. Forest walk for the dogs excellent. We WILL be back!!!!!
